I'm fairly new to wearing boots but this is a golden rule I've learned: buy boots that have blake stitching or a goodyear welt. These methods of construction are superior to glued on soles.
USA made Danner boots are my go to since the late 80’s as a hiking kid. My adult versions have been resoled many time and feel amazing. My Redwings are hit or miss. I spent $280 on China made and they were trash. The same as the one pair of foreign pair Danner I bought tbh.
Most people don't realize how low quality YSL (and most high-end fashion designers) boots are. For that price, you can have 2 pairs of a real boot, built 3 times better than those YSLs, and for less than $1000 a partially hand-built fiddle-size and much better leather like preview CF Stead Janus but If the logo is important to you, take the Celine or YSL but poor quality for the price
They run a little big. I was fitted for a 10 US in the Red Wing Iron Rangers when I typically wear a 10.5 US in sneakers. They have a size chart on their website that covers all major shoe measurements if you want to take a look yourself.
Redwing has great tech in store. They have a sizing stand that comprehends all the features of each foot individually and then you can find a boot that fits accordingly. For instance, my right foot has a wider toe box EE. I was buying E for years. Accommodating for that one foot made my boots all the better.
Thursday boots are a great cost-effective choice as well... Also for those who like Doc Martens, take a look at the reviews done by "Rose Anvil" and "Stridewise" on the Doc Marten boot.....
It’s subjective. I hike long trail. Maybe looks wise they aren’t as nice looking, but functionality for the price I disagree with you. I did the entire AT in the ankle version without replacing them.
Cowboy boots. Just get a pair of Luchesse boots. Classic design. Very well made. Get it in smooth leather in plain black or dark brown leather, croc, or bullhide. If you have the bucks, splurge on a pair of Caiman croc. Looks great with jeans or plain slacks and even a suit if you live in Texas. Or get a pair of lace-up packers. A pair of Chippewa lace-up packers are classic. Tough, long lasting. You can go horse back riding, tromping in the woods, or just walking about town. Looks great with jeans.
Okay but they are right with Solovair>Doc Martens tho Tecovas are kinda mid. I'd compare them to the red wings, or Chelsea, just for the aesthetic...yeah it worked that SINGLE time but....
That’s not surprising at all. They seem to have gone for the more iconic pieces. Thursday being good value has little to do with this video, I think. It’s a younger brand than everything here.

I mean yes, if you want boots reviewed for their quality. This is GQ, of course the perspective is style. I think the intended audience is quite clear.
Sorry. But if you're going for dress-up boots, then okay. 'Some' of your choices were okay, at best. For an everyday man, wearing an everyday boot, just not for going to workin, for a very comfatable boot, you can't beat the orignal Dr. Martins, or even the Tan Brahma Mens Defender, or tan Wolverine's WITHOUT the steel toe-caps. Just MY opinion of course. I gave you a like for your presentation. But Sorry, I didn't agree with your choices.
Definitely need the Danners for the trails of NYC

RM Williams is the boot of white collar professionals in Australia. Particularly Doctors.
I’m glad that my goofy daily driver Merrells are considered cool by GQ
It's wild
Chukka boots are my favorite I want to perfect them in my own way and put out my own brand
Never liked those hiking style boots (like the Danner) with the big bulbous toe, but once I saw how Reiss styles them, I don’t hate them as much.
Kick you toe on a rock just once, and you'll understand why they're "styled" the way they are....

Shout out to Truman and Grant Stone.👍🤘
I have had my bean boots for years, they the are they truth! I have the ankle ones and they go with everything!
How are the Red Wings sizing wise? I use a 44,5 EU/10,5 US in sneakers.
And bear in mind that they are TOUGH BOOTS. The breaking period is not the most pleasant, but after a while they become very comfortable.

Idk how they can say the MOAB 2 are the best hiking boats ever, there's so many better companies and boots

It doesn’t matter what boots or shoe you wear if they don’t complement the rest of your outfit
What boot would be best for the snow?
Some will say the LL Bean. I'll disagree. It depends on what you mean by "in the snow."
In the snow on sidewalks? I the snow traversing the plains?
Rose Anvil where you at
Georgia boot romeos are the best boots.
No Timb classic yellow?
Fair question
Only seen one good pair of boots. It is the Redwing Moc Toe boot others were subpar

Jim Green and Thursday need to be in the mix
Everybody is wearing Doc Martins these days🫤
Tom brown os just a copy of Tricker's stow. That was weird choice

Cowboy boots! Be different
Boots, then the jeans.
Must have not seen the Rose Anvil video where he cuts apart those overpriced Danner boots if there on this list.
NGL I’m surprised they didn’t cover Thursday Boots. Great boot for the value.

Not even an honorable mention
Overpriced for the quality
Solovair is made by the OG Doc Martin makers. New Doc Martins quality plummeted, unfortunately
Every Danner boot I’ve tried is trash. And I’ve tried about 4.

Dr. Martens are great if you want a boot that'll fall apart in 7 years
If you’re getting Red Wings then go to a store and check them out well as their quality control is awful.
you talk about solvair but not doc martens in full?? smh
