Hi- you both are very brave to take on this kind of adventure! I say this with sincerity and kindness. I discovered your first video today about Chang Mai where my retired Mark and I are seeking out the possibility of taking on a similar journey to the one you described in this video. What I have learned from your video's has been very educational and helpful so I thank you for that. Please continue to post video's of the areas that you are visiting because I will look forward to seeing them. Take care and wishing you a healthy and happy adventure😃
We have a *ridiculous* amount of things in common: mid-50s, empty-nesters, SoCal, even the way your plans have developed over time. Our adventure begins at long last next August, and your videos have me more confidently pressing the pedal on the gas. Thank you!. It looks like you’ve already hit monetization here on YT, so good on ya!!
@@TheTravelTurtles It sure sounds like we have a lot in common! Congratulations on your upcoming August launch! Maybe we will connect somewhere along the way! 😊

Hey, good luck you two! We stumbled upon your channel and are blown away at the similarities to our lives. We are 57, empty nesters, tested Portugal (Lisbon and Lagos) before leaving and just started 3-5 years of slow travel in July, when we headed to Strasbourg France to start. We then went to Bristol, UK, saw Cornwall, the Cotswolds, and are now in Broughty Ferry, Dundee Scotland for 2.5 months (we brought our daughter up here to start her PhD program). We sold our house and one of our cars in NY during the pandemic, moved in to a condo in Savannah GA, which we rent out, sold / gave away most of our stuff before leaving, cancelled our subscriptions, signed up for T Mobile and Cigna, gave our remaining car to our neice to drive 1x / week and off we went. I type this after heading to Aldi's and Sainsburys this morning, but the rest of the day is open. Looking forward to seeing how your channel grows. You both have a nice / fun / respectful way about you, so we think you will do well. Your twins, minus the golf, Andrew & Christine

The biggest access to wealth stability is a paid off home! Most states allow you to protect it from medical bills, etc. Why is it the best stability cause it provides something you need, a place to live that will only cost more in the future! Wanna travel, do it by keeping your home, can't afford it, save til you can! Cause in 10 yrs, 20 yrs when you can't or don't want to travel anymore how are you gonna afford to buy homes that have gone up in rice by multiples!

Good luck!!🎉
Thanks!!
Great video! Congrats! Subscribed.
Thank you so much! ❤
I will be following along! My husband and I were planning to launch in February 2025, but have been delayed a little by the impending arrival of twin grand babies. We’re thinking we will stick around for one more year to be a help to our daughter and son-in-law as they will have 4 under 4!!
@@christysalinas124 Oh! Twin grand babies!! How wonderful! I can definitely see why you would want to stick around a bit longer before heading off on your adventure! Congratulations! We can’t even imagine! ❤️❤️
Happy to follow your journey 😎
I’m so glad Peter! And maybe sometime in the near future, we can meet up again, in Italy maybe? Rick and I are still having Cadbury treats every night for dessert.
Congrats on the jump into adventure! I’d like to know more context like ages, careers, pension, where are you from in US? My wife and I are subscribers👍
Thank you for subscribing! We are from Southern California and are 55 and 57. I was in education and Retired Rick was in law enforcement. We both started our careers later in life and then retiring early greatly reduced our pensions, but we are thankful for what we do have!
We sold our house just over 3 years ago with the intent on slow traveling for two years. The way it’s going I don’t see us stopping within the next 10 years.
That is encouraging! I hope we are able to say the same thing in a few years! Cheers and safe travels!
So can I ask what you did for jobs before retiring? Retired Rick looks like a chips highway patrol officer. Favourite TV show growing up in the U.K.
This made us laugh! You hit the nail on the head. He is retired law enforcement. :)
@RetiredNomadAdventures We're in Cascais just up the coast from Lisbon having already spent time in both Lisbon and Evora. On the strength of your Portimao video we're going there on Wednesday, just booked an apartment for a week. Bolt is the Portugese Uber. And from one major city to another the flix bus is cheap and often faster than by train.
Daphne & Rick congratulations curious what jobs did you guys retired from and what are your ages? Where are you guys from - which State?
My wife and I retired at the end of last year and recently came back from a 4 mth South East Asia we retired at 61
Rick you sound like myself the excel budget guy! :)
We are from Southern California and are 55 and 57. I was in education and Retired Rick was in law enforcement.
We have never been to SEA and so eager and excited. I hope you enjoyed your 4 months there.
Thank you for watching!!
I will have to keep my eyes open in case I pass you on the street.
Yes!!
