Golden age FMX right here! Tsunamis looks better without backflip..! The eager and hyped commentary! It is so different nowadays, sounds like they are watching golf or something.
No doubt, this was the first freestyle comp I ever saw. Felt like I was in the arena with them. I meant to get an upload done over the weekend but I have some transfers to finish, then we’ll be back to it ✊💨💨💨
Very cool channel and can't wait to dig in. I was never mad into riding but loved FMX for entertainment and games. Did you also hang on the freestylemtx forums? Cheers from Norway!
@@ErlendBuflod yep! I remember when Garrett Ahlf posted a pic wanting names for his new bar trick. Someone commented “Paris Hilton” and the trick is still named that to this day 😂
@@bradenhallocksfmxarchives4985is this the whole thing? Where is Travis pastranas run? I remember from grade 6 watching this and Travis is the only one riding a 125cc and the announcer says "that thing sounds like a chainsaw! " Lol is that this one?
at the Gravity Games in Newport, RI in 2000 when Cary Hart pulled the first competition backflip, *I WAS THERE* and he fucking Supercrossed the step-up jump about 15 times before his final approach his dad also designed the course at the 2000 Gravity Games… But, by hitting the lip and feeling the jump out so many times before his actual attempt, he did two very important things _#1)_ he learned the shape of the jump & had a better idea how the bike was going to behave… _#2)_ he wore in the face of the jump & by already learning the feel of the it he knew how to position his body for the flip…
That is insane you got to see that live in person! Yeah credit to Tom hart for designing and building a lot of the early freestyle courses. I have the full gravity games broadcast uploaded from 2000 ✊💨💨💨
@@bradenhallocksfmxarchives4985 Well, my point is, his dad designed the course for the gravity games in 2000, and because he Supercrossed the step-up jump like 15 times before he made the attempt _(Supercrossed_ in context meaning jumped it without making a trick) he wore the face of that jump in & he *KNEW* how it was going throw him, he hits the X-Games jump totally *COLD* and it wasn’t long after Hart made an attempt, then Pastrana attempted not long after, then within a year, Mike Metzger was throwning it down in his competition runs & he wasn’t doing it off the step-up jump, he was throwing it down from traditional ramps…he had it dialed…
@@lect0n7 got that tape as well but someone already uploaded flipped out. Dawes uploaded Metzgers first attempts out in the dunes off a ramp. Dudes were gnarly 🙌
So crazy to remember these were the big moves then. Nowadays if you pulled these moves in a competition they would think someone messed up their run and just put something down. Like “okay. He did a nac nac…how many flips with it? -None..?- give him a 3…” lmfao
Way better energy in these days. I feel like all the riders had their own style. Miss it. More uploads coming soon, was trying to get the rest of this comp before I continued but it might have to wait. ✊
Probably meant to say 01. Big air came right around 2000 but wasn’t in both x games til 2001. Error I’d say. 01 winter c was the first time they had Moto ✊💨💨
This was 2 years before the 3 but yeah Deegan landed the 360 a run or two before Travis in the 03 freestyle comp. Watch “unchained the untold story of freestyle motocross” for some behind the scenes of the event 🙌
These were the coolest guys on earth when i was a kid.
Same. Some are cool, some turned out to be not so cool 😂
love the video bro, nice to watch old fmx video. really enjoy every second of it
Thanks bud! 🤙
Awesome, so fun to watch. Appreciate it

I don’t mean to laugh but Jerry Bernardo cracked me up when he told the story about Jake’s bike. I never knew that lmao.

Somebody needs to make an fmx game with no backflip, 360, frontflip just upright tricks so it has an old school feel to it.
I’m all about it, bring style back 🙌
