she is consistently fantastic. One of the greatest poets and songwriters of my generation. I saw her live two years ago and she is so much more intense and powerful in person, its the only concert to ever bring tears to my eyes.
@@kerryfairyhed Idk, but I think you could apply these lyrics to the fragile egos of like 90% of all men on this planet. I say this as a man with a fragile ego of my own to battle against, of course.
I think she does an interview and says that she wrote it about her experiences dating an older guy when she was 14. She started writing it then and kept adding to it with similarly relevant “inspiration” from, agreed, 90% of fragile men 😂
She was never pop, she hit once the billboard charts but that is about it. Actually 90's billboard pop was kind of bad. Imo today is much more diverse and interesting.
Don't you plead me your case Don't bother to explain Don't even show me your face 'Cause it's a crying shame Just go back to the rock From under which you came ... Genius
It's like god reached down and put the lyrics in her brain. I'll never get over how lines that put even the best lyricists to shame spilled out of someone that had only been processing emotions for like a decade.
That's exactly what I used to tell people in middle school when they would ask me why I don't talk. I have nothing to say to you. c: Glad someone else knows what I meant.
Wow, I've been in love with a snippet from her interview with Leno for ages; but, never did I know, she performed *Sleep to Dream* that night as well... My favorite apple song ❤️🔥 This performance has lifted my spirits this evening!! -Mr. Books (June 16th, 2021) 💋
i havent thought of her in forever and for some reason, last night she poped in my head and i wondered what she had been doing for years. i havent played this CD in a long while and kno wnothing about her anymore. wierder tho, after thinking about her in nearly 8 years atleast, someone mentioned her this morning. so i thought id check her out. i liked a few of her songs.
Yea........ she was very young there. So, the end part with not wanting to talk......... you gotta forgive her for that. When the host says he wants to talk to you, you should not say you are being tactful because you have to be appreciative that Leno had you on his show. So, just suck it up and talk to him for a few seconds. But, wow, that was weird.

"I just don't speak when I don't have anything to say". Amen to this, the world is lacking people with such attitude.
I thought that was really funny to say to Jay who talks a lot without really much to say lol
Facts. If you can’t improve the silence, leave it alone
The degree of control she has over that voice is scary. She makes it sound chaotic and emotional, but she's 100% in command all the time.

She is gen x generation.
elder millennials listen to her too, cheers
the power she must have felt at 17 years if age sends chills to my spine...:)
Finding vintage Fiona Apple performances is like finding really rare wine. I demand MORE! pretty please :-D

haha ikeep finding u in comment sections of her old live videos
Fiona is a once in a lifetime phenom... I love you Fiona!!
This chick supposedly wrote these lyrics when she was 14. That’s absolutely insane.
Who was she singing about i wonder

@@beverlyhillzchihuahua it is pretty dang poppy. and that's nothing bad, especially when she does her own unique thing.

she is fantastic. I also have my own hell to raise.
What a sassy babe. She inspired me to start singing when I was a teen.
Fiona Apple: freaking epic performance. Jay Leno: “Nice job, we’ll be right back after this” ( commercial break)
When she sings she has plenty to say!! ❤️
So young at this
1997 year's here
she really was, like, a prodigy to have such writing and vocal talent so young

Just finished a tour and will be on another soon.
She has actually gotten a lot better.
Which blows my mind, because she was amazing then.

Damn shame what the industry does to geniuses!!!

Was this the whole interview? lol.

It’s just so fucked up great

How did we go from this to Britney Spears in just three years?
How about we don’t pit women against each other??
@@emmakaplan7508 I don’t see it was pitting women against each other. It’s pitting talent against product.
@@christinacascadilla4473 Both are quite talented in their own respects. That’s what matters most
