In my opinion, other than Radiohead, she is the greatest artist of the modern era.
She is an absolutely brilliant lyricist, an amazing vocalist and an amazing songwriter.
She is Nina Simone, Joni Mitchell, Van Morrison, and Jeff Buckley-all rolled into one.

I remember buying When The Pawn on CD the day it came out in the autumn of 1999 while I was living in NYC, just graduated high school in the midwest a few months earlier and was living this amazing life now, walking around Chelsea and Soho listening to those songs, rain and orange/red leaves everywhere. I love Tidal but WTP has so much nostalgia for me., every song is amazing. Love Ridden destroys me. This performance perfectly captures the atmosphere of this era of Fiona. This album and The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill are two of the greatest albums to ever exist.

@@scoobooyt the comparisons happen with every artist. Tidal was transcendent. Something will happen to bring Fiona back to prominence, whether that's her returning to music, someone putting her music in a movie, or her eventual demise. When this happens, Tidal is what will be talked about. When the pawn is for us fans, Tidal was for everyone.

Is that Matt Chamberlain on drums back there? I’m almost pos. that he performed on her official “When the Pawn...” album which was ©️in 1999. Fiona is my 2nd all-time fav musicians (that is outside the gr8s Chopin, Grieg, Brahms, Rachmaninov U get the💡). Tori Amos got her musical hooks into me 1st when her solo career started +>5yrs B4 Fiona (w/the 🎹as her medium). Tori relied on Chamberlain for both recording & 🌎 tours in those late 90's-00's as well. He worked on her albums “From the Choirgirl Hotel,“ ”To Venus & Back” then into ”Scarlet's Walk“-I think. I don’t know if he did any other Fiona albums. How prolific was he @that time? I know I'm only focusing on 2 «branded» musicians & not inc. any others he might’ve worked with as well as independent projects or solo work. Anyone know how he worked @that time & what he’s doing now?

H I’m glad u like him as an artist so much. The only reason I stuck w/these 2 other than being insanely gifted musicians -fiona for song writing & how she fits chord structures w/melody -Tori for layers of meaning w/in many songs, diverse themes (both in what she writes about, & her melodies/harmonies) -her prolific writing would kinda make u write more than just 1 theme; & her insane talent as an artist on the piano which she attributes to her ”muses,“ etc.
Being a classical pianist myself dabbling in their 🎵 as well as 🎵 I ❤️from certain films, makes it obvious u are a drummer if not then certainly percussionist/instrumentalist (yes, I know that inc.piano).Do u follow his works? That’s the one instrument, if u're not a singer nor in a band as well, as to how u follow a drummer. But I can hear the difference b/w run of the mill vs one who’s insanely talented. I haven’t inc. ”instrumentalists.” How did u become a fan of his works -playing w/or for other (obviously) artists/orchestras? Are there other drummers u ❤️for their talent? This is now something I’m gr8ly interested in, being those that are talented in instruments not often followed when u're not the lead ”staple” artist. Does any of this make sense??

@@n8vsprt315 Saw both Tori and Fiona in the prime time of 1999-2000. Matt Chamberlain and Jon Brion are just crazy talented. Would die to see Fiona again and witness her passion and emotions that she just pours out.
Clive Deamer is also one of my absolute favorites.

Chamberlain also played all drums on the unreleased (and better) version of Extraordinary Machine. Sadly he was replaced by a mixture of other people on the eventual miserable release.
