I think I am waiting. The next potential FF crossover might be huge. Lots of people are thinking FF10, and I'd love to see Cloud in Tidus' outfit and what crazy ability his signature weapon would bring. It might not be FF10, but still, I think I will want to spend more on Cloud/Seph/Aerith/Tifa for the crossover.
I'm waiting on a weapon that does Veil on all allies and another good effect before I start investing in Angeal. If that Greatsword A did (as it's an aoe weapon) I'd have gone bonkers for Angeal as it would have seemed so cool but veiling just himself seems very awkward because you'll then just use a weapon like tranquility to provoke and veil anyway but I feel like I'd only want a provoke weapon if it also had veil as well (otherwise you're pulling in damage without extra defense). It's similar to Aerith and others, they had weapons like Prime number and Fairy Tale that did just healing then they got more advanced weapons like the bahamut rod and centipede later that did that plus defense up. I feel like Angeal is in an early stage where I want to wait for better versions of the weapons because even with 2 good weapons it feels like he's missing something. Core parts of a team are utility (status removal, buffs, extra effects like haste etc.) damage to clear stages and healing. He seems to have utility but I struggle to get him to have utility and damage or utility and heal. Red XIII does utility and heal but Veil at present is in a strange place to me, it's difficult to use for multiple enemies and doesn't work for all allies mostly. It may depend on peoples playstyle but at present I'm not the hugest fan of Angeal myself, could still be worth building for his great support weapon stats but I just want him to do a bit more myself. Stalwart Integrity is his best weapon to me so far but don't like the 70% cap. (did sort of miss great sword though, that looks like it's a universally good weapon that should work on anything but pdef down resistant enemies, considering most patk weapons hit solo targets though it seems like having somone else with pdef down could work anyway).
Aaah, love this type of comments, can't thank you enough your time writing this!! I fully agree with you, after trying Angeal in anger, Provoke + Veil feels good but it doesn't feel enough, Veil ALL is really needed, AFAIK that's only present in his LB, which clearly limit his power as a new unit, I think they should have been bolder from the start, also I get the feeling that sometimes bosses just ignore Provoke, because they already put their target over someone before Provoke happens, which defeats the purpose completely!! Provoke should make bosses re-think about who they want to target, sometimes in guild battle a random unit is getting hit when I can see the effect of Provoke is still up, it feels weird - maybe I'm doing something wrong - Another point where I have been struggling is as you said: Utility. Neither Vincent or Angeal can really compete with Red / Barret / Tifa / Lucia in terms of options, they have their niche situations of course (guild battles and whatnot) but they need a lot more banners before they can be really useful to clear more content with them. For example, in terms of elements: Angeal only does Earth down, same as Vincent, which feels silly, they should have had different elements... I think you are doing the right thing not investing in Angeal, and since there is a cross-over with more Water Sephiroth, seems like the right call to wait!! Again, thanks a lot for your comment! Appreciate you!
@@pliyo Thanks and I've not tested him properly to see if provoke can be ignored but it would be a bit of a shame as it's already got a counter with AOE attacks anyway, I can imagine they don't want it to completely throw off all single target enemies though. Hopefully they tighten up the AI and mechanics of it to work better in the future then. I have come to really like the strategy of 2 damage dealers and one healer, when the healer can do the buffs (mdef up or pdef up) necessary and the damage dealers can do the debuffs needed (res down or defense down etc) it typically all that's needed and an easy strategy to follow. I do agree though I think the more utility a unit has the better so Angeal is appealing on that side but I also think they didn't go quite hard enough on him initially. I'm sure he'll be pretty good down the line looking at his kit though, I was a bit disappointed they had a few magic weapons and a few physical though, made it harder to decide which way to invest and that was the straw that broke the camels back. I'm focusing on damage dealers and healers mostly, tend to let utility slide unless it's amazing but here's hoping Angeal will see some great stuff down the line.
Pero quizá, hear me out!

Was there ever one where it wasn't? It could be FF10, but I'm hoping for 6.
