Cocoon is a parable.for growing old, dying and rebirth. And done in a way that only the Masters could tell. Namaste.
@@creativecatalyst777 Speaking to us from a fundamentalist Christian angle?
It's about aliens
What a wonderful, beautiful movie!!!
Crazy that Wilford Brimley was like 50 here. I turned 50 last year, holy smokes
This is the happy ending for old people.
I went to see "Cocoon" in theater in 1985. Along the with "LifeForce." Even though I was extremely young, both films gave me unique perspectives about living, dying and the energy that separates them.
This is the rapture

A rapture only for the elderly?
@Vortex 👍❤️🎥
By 1985 America became very convinced about extraterrestrials and their UFO spacecrafts visiting our planet, and our world-This movie gave the perspective that aliens coming to our planet, from other parts of the universe, may be here to assist us,and to learn more about us-Instead of harming us!!😇😘
Didn't Lifeforce have some nice boobies in it?
Really love these 2 movies l sometimes wish I could go off somewhere and come back feeling so much younger and energetic
Med beds coming
I have a feeling that the ship taking the seniors back to the aliens' home planet could be seen as an allegory for Heaven or, at the very least, the afterlife.
I showed this to my father and I said would you like to live forever too? He said yes. He has now left us and living productively as ever.
I didn´t recall Steve Gutemberg utteing "May the Force be with you" when I saw the movie at the theaters back in 85... so glad I´m seeing this now! Nowadays it´s so cliché, but back then, it was a nice touch! And I´m always moved by the PHENOMENAL soundtrack by the master James Horner. It´s triumphant, it´s magical, it´s bombastic, it´s pure 80´s sci-fi scapism...
Apart from this scene the other one burnt into my mind is the quote " No Italian food it makes me Fart"
Those UFO lights are why I’m here!
Respect our elders!
Because of a movie featuring a UFO?
They got more experience in some things then we do.
Fun fact: Actor Willfred Brimley was just 49 years old when they signed him as the main 'Elderly old man'
RON HOWARD really stepped up his game a year after "SPLASH"
God please give us a movie like this in 2023
An inspirational movie? The Sound of Freedom and Barbie.
@@charles1203 utter garbage.
Please take Joe Biden with you.
@@brett19890 don’t want him, any man who trusts Garth Brooks has fundamental character flaws
Today is Hume Cronyn’s birthday.
I loved that movie...even if the eggs were fiction.
Hate to burst your bubble but....the whole thing is fiction
@@DweeD1516 nooooooooooo 😅
@@DweeD1516 How do you know ? .... especially with all the UAPs/UFOs lately... maybe reality is more extreme than this. Actually i would say, slowly this is becoming more real than the movie 😀
They say "where the h*ll did this come from?" and then we hear "My God". Jack says "may the Force be with you" (as an in-joke).
But teh angelic smile of the late Brian Dennehy tells its own story...
I love you
This may have been a sad ending for David (the boy) and his mother, but it turned out to be a happy ending for the old folks after all.
David knows that his grandparents are flying on a spaceship is space.
@@dominicliner1609 And that confident look on his face when he's at the funeral on the beach proves it!
Wilford Brimley was only 50, yet he looked more like 75 or 80.
Seriously, I'm 61 and I thought he was way older than me in this
We all believe!
Annoyingly the second scene from this movie on RUclips that is cut short. Who goes to the trouble to upload a scene a chop off the end?
He was younger, in this movie, than Paul Rudd is now. Paul looks 25 in comparison to an 85 year old Wilfred in cocoon
Wilfred lived a rough cowboy life, probably smoking and drinking since he was a boy. That’ll age you fast.
Futurama!

What are they going to do with the boat in space.
Sorry ,,,,, loved you
I'm surprised Jack still had his captain's privileges in the sequel. You'd think he would've had them revoked after this.
They may think that Jack was just a crew member on the boat they may think he's not the captain of the boat.
@@dominicliner1609When the Coast Guard checks his identity, they're probably gonna find out he's the captain of the boat.
@@waynemacfarland1546 the Coast Guard will laugh at Jack when Jack tells the Coast Guard that a spaceship came from space and pick up the boat and flew off into space. In the sequel Jack did say he got in lot of trouble for taking old people away on his boat.
It's too bad Bernie never went along. It would've been the perfect start to a new life.
そうそう!!この迎えに来るシーンが最高に感動的なんだよなぁ(ノД`)・゜・。
Can't believe people actually think that's what antarean look like lmfao.

Who’s he waving to?
Old Joe Biden and Mitch.
And then they got experimented on by the aliens. It was all a ruse. The end.
