Magnus and Fabi and the top GMs grow their hair out as wild and high as possible to sense their opponents thoughts like antennas/aerials. Hikaru is successful by dwelling in those spaces to literally get in his opponents’ heads.

Never mind the nay sayers... The effort you put into this by posting daily, after work even, taking time away from your family on top, is to be commended. The jokes do get repetitive, but you can't get new material day after day. I would suggest covering other players more, so it's not just Magnus and his jokes. That might help. Great job anyway.

I haven’t watched much of your channel but the Lufthansa made me laugh and I really like the style of your commentary. I get what people mean by the jokes but honestly as long as you keep the wordplay subtle and only for attentive viewers I think the humour is great.
Also you could use humour for illustrative effect (I.e. when Levy talks abt the bishops being in an apartment with no windows) as it definitely helped with my conceptual understanding of this game when I was starting out back in the day. Great job well done!

Maybe learn just one opening each for black and white until you'recomfortable with the variations. Fischer played mostly Ruy Lopez and Carlsen mostly Queen's Gambit. Play actual games as much as you can, especially over the board, the pieces and POV will look really strange to you in a game OTB if you only play online. Know that you will lose more games than you win, but try to remember as much as you can why you lost and don't get discouraged. Most of us suck, we just love the game

not a comment on the video, but a belated happy 34th birthday my fucking dude! in honor of your great heritage, i'm throwing down with some hard metal tiddlywinks, but instead of using small / large disks we're using chainsaw blades. A lovely tradition, remade for the modern world. Might I suggest a russian tradition? Vodka and chainsmoking while talking about everybody you know who lost a limb in [insert armed conflict, which could be anything given your generation-for me, it was the Soviet effort in Afghanistan-only to move to America and see them go to the same damn country and lose even harder-might I suggest trying our hallowed tradition of drinking to the point our liver sends up a white flag of surrender through the esophagus and out the mouth in an attempt to save the host body. Also, don't play roulette with Russians; there is no way to win, but - if you do - play with nerf guns or a super soaker, which is what we use in the old country to bathe ugly children.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, birthday boy! Just wait until thirty-five, man. You'll feel off the whole year, since it's the only instance of an odd number, where both are odd, and yet it feels fucking even by some voodoo.
Oh got a recommendation for you mate. A puzzle book I was able to complete recently-Cain's Jawbone, an elaborate literary puzzle wherein you have to know the subtleties of english language history, literary allusions which span thousands of years, and put together abstract double entendres to work it out, and you do so by ordering the hundred some odd pages in the precisely correct order. At the time of its release, Cain's Jawbone was only solved by 2 people in the UK and now, nearly one hundred years later, it has been recognized as solved by 8 people … and as of yesterday, *fucking nine* . The first people to solve it were awarded 25 pounds, which has the purchasing power of 750 USD today. Once it went out of print, it became a sort of literary legend that you'd hear about, for example I was introduced to it in my lit 101 course in my first year at Cornell. It was rediscovered in the 21st century and published again in 2019. At the time it was put forward as a puzzle for anyone to solve in a year, with anyone who could do so winning a thousand pounds. It's a mind boggling puzzle and it took me 6 months to put it together, and the author Edward Powers Mathers (he goes by the nom dés plume Torquemada, which … has a certain spark to it ;) really has created something unique. To solve it you have to re-order the book's one hundred pages to discover the identities six murderers and their victims; since it is 100 pages it can be arranged in … oh, just 32,000,000,000 possible combinations.
I think now 9 people have solved it, and I would really recommend it. My fiancè (she said yes!!) and I spent some months on it before she gave it up to watch reruns of The Next Generation but, to be fair, TNG is awesome, especially Data playing around as Sherlock Holmes even though discount Beverly Crusher Dr. Kapalski thinks him unable to actually use deductive reasoning, which he absolutely demonstrates on numerous occasions since she's a hack.
so, Edward Mathers' - Cain's Jawbone would be a really fun puzzle for you to work out. Since you enjoy chess, and it is-despite the number of fucking gobshites involved in the game today-a thinking person's game. Maybe you could make some progress. Shit, if I can do it, you should have no issue! I am simple working American man, I work one hundred weekly hours in hamburger mine to buy the rock and roll disks like true patriot.
And if you can find it, work on it with your wife man. There's a satisfaction to bringing many disparate threads of a larger, more expansive whole together, bringing into focus a nebulous, diaphanous image to see in sharp relief what had been only blurred, opaque. Like a bitch of a chess puzzle designed by Stocktopus.
sry once again, too lazy to stop once I start typing! It's been a pleasure to have been able to speak with you and get to know you, not only to enjoy your videos each day. I left the channel I worked for, and have put together a team to launch my own channel as the chief creative director since I'm tired of making rich people richer. I should be that guy doing that for me!
Peace man, and thanks for all your hard work. I'll drop a line to the channel when our first video goes up (I'm writing an essay on how Paul from Dune gradually becomes a monster over the second book Messiah and how his son, in children of dune, takes over and reigns for 3,500 years as a giant worm with the humble title of God emperor of Dune. The channel hasn't really got an official name yet, but i wanted to call it Fish Cannot Carry Guns but worried youtube would strike us with the banhammer for including the dead-seed propulsion device. It'll be dedicated to video essays on art/history/science fiction like dune, star trek, Asimov's foundation, etc, as well as whatever the fuck i want, and not anymore LOTR so help me Eru Illuvatar). Maybe something like Aperture or visually speaking or, Kamikaze Life Insurance, LLC, or the Yiddish Detective Agency… more to come. . . XD
g'night brother, live long and get dem bags son!

A general comment, for which I hope you will forgive me. Your analyses of the games are interesting enough to keep me coming back, but your attempts to make them more interesting by supplementing them with characterizations that remind me of attempts to get a three-year-old to eat a bite of food (here comes the train, choo choo choo) are just annoying. Prawns and banana hammocks and horsies and gobble gobbles. Ick. Just ick. All right, done ranting. Maybe most of us think it's funny, after all.

I've never played Chess in my life apart from a few games when I was a kid but I predicted the Bishop move at the end. I guess I couldn't do it in 2 seconds flat though.
