This looks like a way more solid way to move laterally! Thank you for breaking it down so well too!!

Thank you! I miss roller derby so I think maybe next year I might come out of retirement to play a few fun games 😆

Love seeing alternate ideas for roller derby skillz. The smarty shuffle never made to much sense to me because as a blocker I cannot take or give much impact in the spread Eagle position.

Thank you so much! This drill has been killing me at practice and seeing you break it down really improved my lateral steps.

I love this alternative! In Vegas, my team calls lateral glides “type writers” and I could never hold a spread eagle well enough to glide smoothly/stably. I feel like it was always an uncomfortable position for my short legs. I will try this out for sure! Thank you for the video. 🥰

This is really helpful as i cant quite open my hips enough to side surf in a straight line.

I find the side surf position for roller derby isn't a very stable position to be in for a long time

My hips definitely don’t work for the big lateral glides. I’m going to try working on this instead. Thanks for breaking it down! ❤

    Does this damage wheels?

Not if you have the correct wheel hardness for the floor surface you are skating on.
