- Just a quick video of driving the truck on the freeway with the new Texas speed stage 2 cam. It’s really quiet in the cab when just driving normal but when you get on the gas you can hear it!!

Only mods done so far are air aid tube intake, oil catch can, granatelli spark plug wires, Range technology, and a Borla atak exhaust kit...

Houston TX my neck of the woods . Also 45 south and Beltway 8 . Packing up today and driving there tomorrow. Got a 2016 gmc Denali 6.2 FBO Houston House of Power tune driving down there for a full head and cam package
How did that go? Any issues? How bad did your mileage go down? Worth it?
Does your temp go a little bit above from where it usually sits ? When stepping on it or giving it throttle for a while ? But then comes back down quick?

Love the way it sounds do u go to truck meets or so I have the same truck just kind of lifted on 35s and 20” rims but it’s completely STOCK and that sucks need to do something to it I wanna at least tune it for now then headers and the cam etc...

Sweet truck man, what hp gains did you get just from the cam? Before and after hp?
Haven’t had the time or chance to get it dyno tuned but I think it added about 67 hp and 16 lbs of torque from the spec sheet.

I just dropped a lifter in my truck and plan on doing a stage 2 kit, any problems with the check engine light? and could you give me a estimate cost of what ill be putting out to get it done at a shop?? Thanks
No engine lights since the lifter failure. Cost just depends on shop and I’m sure parts are a little more now. Probably 3-5k to do the cam kit and torque converter and tune

I have 1-7/8 long tube headers and had a single Csrven R series muffler. No cats or resonators

So two probably very dumb questions lol. I am getting my trans replaced right now. I am thinking of going with a Texas speed cam for my l83, if I where to do that would I be able to get by on the stock converter? Also the new trans comes with a 3 year 100k warranty would the cam completely void that?
It may void the warranty since it’s not already installed prior to work. And I recommend an after market converter from circle d specialties.
Did you end up having to put a stall in?

@@chasec4478 how much did that run ya? I’m planning on doing a DOD delete, replace the lifters and get the same cam you got. The 5.3 is a good engine but AFM lifts are a joke. A part of me wishes I stayed with Ford, but a coyote 5.0 will never sound as good as a cammed 5.3.

Is this video back in the days of the carven R? Wouldn’t be nearly as loud with the TR the truck has in it now right? I have the carven progressive (TR) dump style and long tubes on the way rn & eventually going to be doing a cam and I’m bummed out it looks like I might have to get a bigger muffler cause that’d be a little bit too loud for my personal preference.
Landon Hill yea this was back with just the R but the TR is still pretty loud as well. If you want quieter you’ll need something like borla ProXS or magnaflow. I’m about to switch up my exhaust to something more quieter while driving but still loud when I get on it.
Spaded Ace-Chase C I hear ya it’s tough to get a nice audible chop at idle without it becoming a little bit too loud all throughout the band. I was kinda eyeballing the gibson super truck muffler in their catback sidedump configuration. It’s a pretty good size muffler and I’m a sucker for a side dump. Hopefully the TR won’t be too loud with long tubes.

Nice truck! I'm going to be doing the same build in about a month to my daily. AFM/DOD delete and TSP stage 2, but i'm not sure what stall converter to put in it. The guys at circle d recommended the HP series 278mm 2600 - 2800. Have you done the 3200 yet, and is there a reason you're considering such a high stall?
I haven’t added one yet but after talking to Texas speed they recommend the 3200 stall.
@@chasec4478 My trans is the 6L80E. I'm very interested in seeing how yours performs with the 3200 stall in it. I don't want to be disappointed leaving it stock, but I can't imagine a daily that leaves a red light at 3000 rpm.I'm hoping a 2600 stall will be the best of both worlds.

The biggest bang for your buck would be a Texas speed stage 3 vvt truck cam, trust me when I say it do not delete vvt I don't care if it's more work to get setup it's the difference between a 330hp l83 and a 400whp l83 the pain is absolutely worth the gain
@@chrishansen7004 what do you mean by deleting the VVT? Shade tree mechanic here (aka part timer YT mechanic lol) and I'm new to the digging into the engine world. I'd like to cam my '14 L83 Sierra in the nearish future, but I've never heard of deleting this "VVT?" When I say "I would like to" I also mean doing it myself.

Cesar Ceja just a Texas speed stage 2 cam kit, long tube headers with Y pipe to single 3” exhaust with carven R muffler. Adding a circle d stall next month.

Can you recommend me a “drop in cam” for my 2014 LT Silverado 5.3 flex fuel? I don’t wanna change my converter or major parts, just a plug and play style cam, and a tune after, thanks!
LS & SXT_Proud most times even with small cams you’ll have to change the springs and push rods because stock aren’t designed to support the mods. Replacing the timing chain is usually recommended as well. Don’t do a cam install if you don’t want the supporting mods to get the best gains for your money.
If you really had to be that basic which I wouldn't the tsp stage one and 2 low lift cam would be fine with just springs no stall or anything but most definitely should do other supporting mods for the best and most reliable hp

Edgar Gzz not yet but gonna put a 3200 circle d on soon. It drives fine on the freeway and non stop driving but when I’m in traffic and at lights I have to put it in neutral. It wants to jump from like 900rpm-1100 every now and then.

What mpg do you get ?
Depends on how I am driving lol. But usually between 10 mpg at the lowest to 12mpg-16mpg. It gets good mileage on the freeway

movemean thanks. I wouldn’t say big gains but it’s definitely a different truck now with the cam. Haven’t had it dyno tuned but the guy who tuned it said it’s probably pushing 390hp. This thing goes now though when you touch the gas.
