What a lovely song in every way. I have been listening to it for 47 years and I enjoy it more each time. Thank you Grace, for contributing to the soundtrack of my life. I am forever grateful.
Joni Mitchell , Janis Joplin and Grace Slick remain the three reference female voices of those years . Manhole is the album that consecrates and gratifies Grace Slick for the great work she did together with the Great Society first and then with Jefferson Airplane
Grace was a uniquely wonderful rock star. And I'm so glad she survived into beautiful and dignified older age. As did all the band. Love everything Jefferson Airplane.
I had only the lyrics "crawl like a baby" in my memory. I looked up and listened to every song on every album that Spotify and Apple had for the airplane and it was not there. Finally found it here after much effort. Cheers mate and thank you
I am getting chills from the sheer beauty and poignancy of this song. I have been listening to it for 46 years. I will love Grace forever for herself and for the great gifts she has given me.
I bought this album called Flight Log and this song really caught my ear , I used to play it over an over back in 80'. Loved Slicks voice . Nice pictures to the song .This is the first time I heard this song since thanks 4 posting .
"Miss takes are maid because worlds are miss under stud It's all in vowel you talk. Waking over somebody's body Isabella strangle thing to do It's all over if not softlee you stalk Seams like they fight all the bend when you climb They'll rip on out again in your next body unwind Wear it again, tear it again, body flying its way through time Soft rest repair repeat inside through quiet sublime." Words by Grace Slick as published in the lyrics booklet with the album 1973
I got a chance to see this sung live in boston- right after the record Manhole was released- with Craig on fantastic lead guitar- and david friberg - was there too- and they did the entire Manhole theme live- all 17 mins. approx. - what a thrill to see this done live- what other band would even attempt what they used to ???? at Boston music hall- 1974 maybe?
@@susandonelanburke1699 cannot be a lot of us left- we met Craig after the show- we only heard grace in dressing room - can't miss that voice- maybe if thinking- we could have asked chaquico-to introduce us? - but blew the chance- Barbata came by said hi to us- while we were outside dressing room-
I was at that show too. As I remember, maybe not correctly, they played Boston after opening the tour in Providence Rhode Island. Was thrilled to hear them perform the Manhole album, then followed them down the east coast. This music is as fresh and unique today as then.
@@tedheslin9777 pretty difficult for most of us- to follow bands around- i was actually employed full time- and often up at 5 a.m.- and i know that Radio city in NYC- was all a favorite stop for them. Looking back- just finding the tour itinerary- was tough enough- done mostly thru FM stations- WBCN- was the key source - sure do wish i owned a mini-disc and decent set of mic's back then- of course it would have cost a Month's pay- if even Available back then- ???
If you have the lyric booklet from the album "Manhole" where this song is included, you will discover that the lyrics printed in said booklet are a bunch of gibberish - just like the song intends.
Always loved that song.nice job with pics.were so lucky to have the jefferson family.long live the queen.!
One of the few great rock women of the 70' and 80. Approaching the end of my life, i think I've been lucky to have lived in thise unique decades.
Шикарная песня, красивая музыка и голос!
What a song. What a woman. More than all, the beauty, the voice, the music, so clever.
What a voice, love everything she sang.
We were the luckiest generation !!

With a great Grace poster of her model good looks.
I bought the same album in 1986. In those years, the debate was similar to the Aerosmith debate: They did better music when they were stoned.

I saw them at Winterland in SF play this. I was just a kid and I loved it! Their first tour as Jefferson Starship. 1974!

That's quite the tribute to Reba McEntire at the beginning......😅
Good little tune. MUCH better than her only charting single, “Seasons”. That peaked at just No. 95 on the Billboard Hot 100 in April of 1980.
david freiberg wrote this with grace. he plays the piano part

I'll have to check that out on my vinyl "Manhole" version .... :-) :-) :-)
Just cuz it said "miss under stud" instead of "misunderstood" you call it gibberish??
maybe that is part of art, what I see in it, like that rorscharch ink blot...
She sings a mystery...
Best song she ever sang...
Manhole, there might be a double meaning to the album name.
I like this song, but I dont like the "arrrriba" shout at the beginning of it. That should have been cut off
I prefer her AOR era,but is cool anyway!
