Recently both nations have collaborated to respond to the Houtis who did their best to upset international maritime traffic. Our long term goals remain as one against the old adversary, Russia. Its not about the size of the navy, its about the quality of the men and women who serve aboard Royal Navy ships.
The UK has fended off numerous opponents whilst outnumbered and the Royal Navy has won numerous battles during its service to the United Kingdom, yes due to cuts and ships being mothballed we are not quite where we once were but we're still capable of defending not just the UK but also our allies, the seas and all interests.

Absolutely agree. The Royal Navy may not be the biggest in the world anymore but they are still 100% the BEST. They've been best for... ohh.... five hundred years now and will continue to be for centuries to come.
Check out Drachinifel's video about the voyage of the Russian 2nd Pacific Squadron. Near the start of that voyage the Russians mistook the trawlers of Hull Fishing Fleet for Japanese torpedo boats (yeah.... they did.....) and opened fire managing to damage a couple and sink one. The Tsar immediately apologised and made restitution, but until the crisis was settled the ships of the RN Channel Fleet and Mediterranean Fleet were ordered to stand to and prepare in case the two sides ended up going to war. After Admiral Beresford, commander of the Med Fleet, studied what had happened and saw the ABYSMAL Russian gunnery (one ship firing more than 300 rounds and not hitting ANYTHING) he wrote that he was preparing a "chivalrous" response, and he'd send four of his battleships to deal with the Russian fleet. The Russian fleet that had 29 warships.
Yeah. Even all those years ago the Royal Navy STILL had a sense of humour.....

The Royal Navy is the shop window for BAE Systems. Both the European navies and Russian shadow box all the time, its a pantomine based on the MAD principle (Mutual Assured Destruction). Ourselves, the French and the US in NATO all have sub launched nuclear missiles. There are many other countries (unofficially) have nuclear tipped deployable missiles.
Most of the modern navies have the technology but not the locker of weapons or personel (serving and technical) to actually deploy their fleets. The UK can maybe deploy eight escorts, three subs, and some glorified fisheries protection vessels (River Class). If it got into a shooting war it doesn't have the auxillary ships to re-supply (Europe certainly doesn't). There are three higher technical and skilled (smaller) navies in the world that can actually deploy ships in numbers, none are in Europe. They are Japan, South Korea and Taiwan.
Sorry to burst the bubble of eneryone but the Royal Navy (and I'm British) is not as strong as everyone thinks. If it wasn't for US backing it would not be able to deploy the aircraft carriers (essentially second decks for the US Maine Corps) and subs (the engines and missiles are all based on US technology transfer). Type 45 may look all very nice but three are always being repaired and the UK doesn't have the money to actually arm them for conflict. Oh, shooting down cheap Iranian drones doesn't count.

Again as a Brit I am please to see our naval capabilities modernise, but as well as acting alone the Royal Navy is part of NATO. A force that Russia does not want to take on. I would say Putin’s war on Ukraine has proved how inadequate his military is and suffering a 20% loss of ships in the back sea to a country without a naval force again points to Russia’s over estimation of it’s capability.

Rah Rah Royal Navy. Im British BTW. While the RN does have some good and very good ships. It does not have nearly enough of anything. Typical penny pinching and head in the sand thinking from the politicians. The rule of thumb for warships is four. Number One on station doing its job. Number two working up to replace the first on station, or be surged out. Number three is in pier side maintenance . Number four has its guts strewn across a drydock in refit. The UK has six Daring class ASW Destroyers. We were supposed to have 12. With 12, that's three out doing its job. It all goes to hell if a single ship has an accident or is sunk with six.
More hulls means less wear on ship and crews. So both last longer. The US Navy has been effectively running on a Wartime footing since 2001. With a third of the USN at sea at anyone time. Which is why ships are wearing out and crew retention is falling.
The RN and The USN are in the same boat (ha). Neither have any cheap plentiful ships to show up and show a countries interest aka showing the flag. We both have to sent billion plus tier One ships. As that's all they both have left. So more wear on ships and crews racing all over the planet to show the flag.
The UK needs to return to its national strength. Boots on the ground has never been the British strength. The UK can never generate a realistic ground force due to the population numbers. The Cold War British forces in Germany where a historical aberration.
The UK need severely expand the RN. Its politicians rushing British Forces all over to look "tough". The RN does not have the ships to just peel off a Daring to zip across to wherever for some politician's whim.
    Rant almost over :)
If the RN had the ships as specified when first ordered (12 Darings and three QE Carriers etc). We would have enough hulls to do everything being asked of the RN with some slack.

I tam surprised that the USA is not starting up another bunch of Burke Class (Ticonderogas maybe?) with a hull extension to take missiles as large as the minuteman..... for ballistic interceptors that can be deployed forward, or very deep magazines to increase fleet ordnance supplies afloat.

The Burke hull is tapped completely out. Its a 70s hullform. Just look at what it was like when launched and now. The flight III Burkes are hauling 1300 more long tonnes around then when launched. Burkes are a Sardine tin now. Any and all available space has already been used for upgrades. What's needed is a new hull design. If the Zumwalt infrastructure had not been canned. Thats the hullforn the US should have continued with. The Zumwalts have the space and power generation for a huge weapon fit. Its the usual suspects that canned it. The hullform and engines design works fine. Its only the Koolaid weapon systems it was supposed to have that are vaporware. If only the the block III Burkes weapons and sensor fit have been "slapped" on to a Zumwalt. You US would not have had to restart Burke production with a crash programme.

In a perfect world, this would be a really uplifting video, however.Even if our military naval hardware are as state of the art as claimed, there's a few massive problems. Our Royal Navy and it's fleet of fighting ships is so pathetically tiny, it's going to be useless against any modern, substantially large military naval forces it may have to fight, unless ( as with our army and royal air forces) they can miraculously be in 10 places at once. The other thing is...... Because the building and assembly contracts of our modern fighting ships are given to the cheapest bidders,a LARGE percentage of them are constantly not fit for purpose and being repaired. I often listen to people complaining about the number of foreign people who have settled in our country and I have to tell them something very important. This country has now got a population of well over 60 million, which means a hell of a lot more taxes and duties being plowed into the government, so...If the NHS has been stripped and stretched to breaking point, and our once mighty armed forces have been all but destroyed by the British government, where's all our money gone and going???????

There is no doubt that technology plays role and at current state Russian Navy is no match for the Royal one. But when fuming Kuznetsov is putting shame on Russians we do have to ask how often is Queen Elizabeth air carrier is out to the sea? Repairs are taking longer than active duty. Then the next question is how many Astute subs are available and how many are functional? I do not believe that they are a match against quantities of Boreys and Yasens Russians have. And frankly, I think that the latter two are great boats - even Americans agree. But the biggest concern is that if it will come to direct battle then 6000 nuclear warheads Russians possess are somewhat overwhelming disbalance over 200 British ones. I wonder if this accident, God forbid, occurs will all these boats have a harbour or even a whole island to return to. Can we discuss what happens if one single Sarmat falls close? So what is the purpose of this spectacular Milky Way ad?

it is about the size over the MSN. if youvstatehjcally place fleets all over the World and establish dominance you can attack anywhere with multiple strikes and the new subs will be with each fleet every singke thing you see on thr Arial Navy seems to be American built. The m134 mini the Chinooks the f35s Bushmaster 30mm the browning 50cal so obviously if they are using alot of American made things then seems to make sense that The US probably didn't give them everything sell them everything it's nice to see them using the f35 program as they replace the Harrier. If you watch videos of what the US SOCOM uses and develoles its crazy theres all sorts of new maned and uunmaned small vessels and subs even for the Devgru the seats hsve several crafts sone that act as a delivery system and drive back to base others can drive right up into a destroyers park. What we have is Nato abd wd share our technology and information and protect bodies of water for potential threats and unwanted colonization piracy and harassment to commercial vessels. It's shown to be in extreme up in the north where countries like Norway Sweden are terrified and must protect their coasts and I'm sure Gb would come to their aid as the US would. who would go head to head with china's Navy. I believe it's an upmost importance to avoid conflict on both sides.
