David Lynch is the only filmmaker to capture that dreamlike quality. So much that something in Twin Peaks: The Return was something I saw in my dream. As I was typing this, you mention him lol. I wish Lynch would remake this movie, as a big fan of both Lynch and these films.

"Mother, they're still not sure it IS a baby!" I was 19 the 1st x I saw "Eraserhead." At the Ken Cinema in San Diego. Mgmt threw a private screening party w/kegs of beer in the aisles. I was on vacation, 1st x in CA, visiting school friend whose bf worked there. Free beer, fun company, great film - I was already a little weirdo, so Master Lynch was rt up my alley!

You have to look at the first Nightmare as its own film because the sequels weren't planned and there was no rules in the franchise set yet so Freddy could do anything with dreams. To me the obvious implication of the ending is that the whole movie was Nancy dream she thinks she wakes up but doesn't and Freddy kills her the mom going into the door was just a last scare moment for the audience.

The molestation aspect of Freddy was removed by Wes Craven because there was a set of real life molestation cases at the time and he didn't want tonbe accused of capitalizing on those cases. But the molestation aspect was left in as subtext they hint at it but never say it outright to avoid taking it to dark for the target audience.

When it comes to slashers Freddy is the only one I like. Jason's a snore, Chucky is kind of dumb, Michael is only cool for the William Shatner mask (that being said I REALLY want to see a short Halloween parody starring Jamie Lee Curtis and William Shatner). I go for more classic horror like Dracula, Frankenstein, The Invisible Man, The Cat People, etc.

I love the Freddy movies, later ones get a bit dull, obviously I dont like the child killer bit but you dont really see that. Freddy strangely entertains me and because its dream land related its creative. I really liked the dream warriors movie and enjoied Freddy vs Jason. Ive had Freddy dreams and they are always silly because thats how I see him, going to see Robert Englund in comic con next year :D so excited

Freddy is my jam! This was my very first horror movie. Now all I watch is horror or comedy. Like I've never seen Titanic. No interest. And why watch movies that make you cry?? I personally don't get it. I wanna escape that shit when I watch a movie. 😆 The first Wrong Turn..... that was the scariest movie ever! It got me bad 😱 😘 Luv ya!

Are you gonna watch The Hills Have Eyes?

I think the guy who did Pan's Labyrinth is pretty plugged into the dreamscape, too - Guillermo Del Torro is it? The movie isn't meant to be scary but some of those visuals are too weird not to be offputting. Who the fuck thinks of a guy with eyes in the palms of his hands? That has to be some weird folk creature.

  • @Kerosene.Dreams

Now, before he see's another one, make him watch the remake. The originals are meant to be comical and kind of cheesy and I love them. But the remake is much darker and much more serious. And yes, Freddy is a child molester but they down play that for obvious reasons. Not quite so much in the remake.
Okay, so he didn't like Child's Play, go to Bride of Chucky. Those are like totally different movies from the Child's play series. And you HAVE to do my favorite horror series, Hellraiser. I wish that I was going down this path of adventure with you. I get so excited when sharing horror with people I care who haven't taken the dive.

Jerad, if you aren't into Gothic women and women with piercings and things like that, I'd be shocked given your view of beauty in dark things.
