This is completely normal in the music industry. Pop artists claiming that their work is original really probably aren’t telling the whole truth.
I mean yeah but it's kinda ironic that she said she was creating a whole new genre of music when she didnt even create the song she was singing. Also I think more than a few people were a little disturbed by the music video. A good 90% of it is a thinly veiled goth/KISS themed, clothed sex tape and even though most people are latching onto the part where she humps her dance partner aggressively, the majority the music video is only slightly better than that scene.
Also, sometimes they retire to become song writers themselves and make a decent living on royalties

The three people who wrote the original “Karma” by Brit Smith (excluding Miley Cyrus) also were the writers of Karma by Jojo Siwa. I think that Jojo Siwa’s team got permission from the writers to use the beat and lyrics of Karma by Brit Smith. So that’s why they are listed on the credits of Jojo Siwa’s version. They are probably also getting a certain percentage of the song revenue.
I firmly believe that NO ONE should deserve any hate. All of us make mistakes and should not receive hate or backlash. I hope that you have a great rest of your day.

I generally think youre right. No one deserves the level of hate Jojo is receiving. However if no one ever received hate as a reprocussion or consequence of a bad decison or mistake, there would be no motivation to learn from said mistake.

"God Is a Woman" by Ariana Grande was originally Camilla Cabello's (who even recorded a version), but Camilla passed on it and Ariana got it instead. Miley Cyrus' "Party in the USA" was Jessie J's first. "We Can't Stop" was intended for Rihanna, before it became Miley's. "Britney Spears' "Toxic" was written for Kylie Minogue. Rihanna's "Umbrella" was intended for Britney Spears.
It probably wasn't so much a "secret" as that... neither she nor anyone on her team thought it's a big deal. Because it usually simply ISN'T a big deal to anyone.

She just did this to another girl.. at a concert Jojo said "i wrote this song about my ex" and played the girls song, vocals and all. The girls name is Emeline and shes a song writer, like singers use sometimes (rihanna, beyonce, cardi b have all had songs written for them, as long as its not ALL your songs its fine), and Emeline said she wouldve sold the track to Jojo but Jojo just claimed it as her own, publicly, on camera.. so she has to do something about it.
Jojos gonna lose everything she worked for pulling this shit, everyone's saying shes trying to pull a "Miley Cyrus" to get away from the kid image and act more her age.. but this isnt a good look. They dont even compare, Miley was a marketing genius with what she did and had everyone talking about her for months, but she was still performing her own music. Jojos going out bad with this..

The clip you are referring to was at a listening party. She specifically says “It is about my ex”. That clip was strategically cut, because the full thing Siwa says is this:
“I want you to listen to a very special adlib, because it is about my ex. And I will point it out to you when it comes, don’t you worry. Here is ‘Choose Your Fighter’.”
When not cut, it is obvious that she is saying the “it is about my ex” part about the adlib - which is a short piece of improvisation. She is not referring to the whole song.
Now, we don’t actually know yet what is up with the song itself. Emeline did say she did not give Siwa permission, but she ALSO said that Jojo “did nothing wrong”. Emeline said she would make a video explaining everything but has not done so yet (as far as I know)
So we came only speculate what is going on. Possibly Emeline sold the rights to the song to someone or to a label who then gave it to Siwa? We just don’t know yet.
