    Overall, daily driving and driving to and from trails overlanding etc, which hemi is best to swap into our jk/jl, the 6.4L or the 5.7L? Which is more reliable, less issues overall?

    How much of a nightmare is it to hemi swap a TJ Rubicon? Worth it to go gen 4 with the 8 speed? Love my 2019 Ram's Hemi with the 8 speed and 3.92's.

      @jeepspeedshop  2 года назад +1

      We have never done a 2009 and newer Hemi in a TJ because you will not have the stock gauges work. If you don't care about the gauges it can work.

    • @SasquatchBenwa
      @SasquatchBenwa 2 года назад

      I'm just finding better low mile deals on the gen 4 pullouts, if an aftermarket gauge cluster will work then the gen 4 would probably be the way to go.
      If I can find a decent gen 3 then I may go that route, but not much sense rebuilding that setup and in the end pay more for it over a gen 4 thats already ready to go.

      @@SasquatchBenwa I'm sure we can do it, It will take a little work. using the 2009 and newer you will need to get a gauge setup figured out ....

    • @jeepspeedshop
      @jeepspeedshop  2 года назад

      Yes you will need to go with a aftermarket gauge cluster, if you are using a VVT Hemi engine.

    I highly suggest he take that LS to a shop that knows LS’s and the in’s and out’s of aftermarket support to keep it running. That wiring on the other hand….

      That is the funny thing, some of the best people in the business have been helping him, I'm not a tuner.. So now the white Jeep is up for sale and the Red Jeep we are pulling the LS and putting a Hemi in it. The LS is going into a 1968 Camaro with the 6L80 and all of the LS parts for the Jeep JK are for sale also..

    I can relate to this guy. Went through lots of issues on my rig.
    Wished I was close to Todd and have him work on my rig from the get-go.

    I know three people who’ve done LS conversions and all three have up and sold their rigs. It just doesn’t work.

    • @jeepspeedshop

      I don't think it works well, now if you get rid of all the Jeep JK stuff and run it like a Hot Rod, the engine is fine. But i think if you want something trouble free i would just go with a Hemi and a 8 speed, I think that the Hemi is the way to go..

    The problem is not putting an LS in a JK - the problem is having someone who doesn't know how doing the swap (usually on the cheap). My Motech turn key L94 swap has been a trouble-free daily driver for years with full gauge and accessory functionality. The install is not a messy disaster like that - it uses an unmodified GM harness and all the original JK accessories (AC compressor, alternator, etc). He should have just had Motech do it to begin with.

      Good for you bud. But you see, not everyone can afford a plug and play Motec(not Motech) standalone ECU. Not everyone knows who or what shop to trust.

    • @jeepspeedshop
      @jeepspeedshop  2 года назад +9

      Well i hate to tell you this, this is a Motech swap and it was done at Motech and this Jeep is a 2015 so it was done after that I don't know when, but what i do know he gets no support, all he gets is just send it back and we will fix it. At one time the wiring was a big problem and we had to rewire the power side and this Jeep has had many engine and transmission updates. Also this Jeep will never be smog legal.

    I'm just finishing my 5.7L Hemi swap with the JSS bolt in mounts. My wiring isn't even close to the amount being used in this Jeep. That looks like a nightmare.
    All the Chrysler stuff just plays better together. Doesn't make any sense to me to do anything but a Hemi.
    Unless it's a buggy and no integrations are needed.

    LS in a Jeep is just twisted thinking from the start. If that is what you want to do, you are already missing the right frame of mind to own a jeep.

    • @jeepspeedshop

      I do agree, there is nothing wrong with the Hemi platform and it works best in a Jeep JK..

    There’s a few issues but the main issue is the gm computer runs the batteries dead, and it’s a general PITA to work on bc of the dual computers / wiring mess.
    I’ve definitely seen wiring done better, but is there really no fix to the gm computer problem?
    I know y’all didn’t do the swap so not accusing you all of the mess, just curious if the problem is actually fixable or it’s something most ls jk deal with.

    • @jeepspeedshop
      @jeepspeedshop  Год назад +1

      The problem is the GM computer will not shut down all the way, I have found that the GM engine in a JK is more of a problem than it is worth. I have Hemi Jeeps and this LS Jeep (Red) the Hemi Jeep is so much easier to deal with and has more power..

    • @kameronkales
      @kameronkales Год назад

      @@jeepspeedshop I agree with you on the LS / gm headache not being worth it. I just don’t technically understand why the computer not turning off can’t be fixed. That seems like a solvable problem. Why does the computer not turn off (if you don’t mind explaining)? I’d think cutting power by turning vehicle off would (eventually) lead to computer cutting off. But I’m guessing somewhere between the wiring of 2 computers there is still a draw that causes battery drain?
      Doesn’t solve the mess of running an LS in Jeep tho

    • @jeepspeedshop
      @jeepspeedshop  Год назад

      @@kameronkales I never solved the problem, it took 7 days for the battery to go dead. At this point we have pulled the LS and we are putting a Hemi in the Jeep..
