3.6L Jeep, this is a good one.
Doing a 8 speed swap and found an oil leak, looks like the oil cooler. So we get the 8 speed done and go to the oil leak. Pull the oil cooler off and find the oil sender leaking, but we did the cooler anyway and replaced the oil sender and when we did we found oil in the wiring harness and plugs.

Very Weird 3.6L problem.
Просмотров 759День назад
Thermostat fixed the overheating problem, because this 3.6L was running at 245 degrees and need a tune up. The air cleaner was full of oil because it was pulling air out of the crank case with some oil. The under hood insulation was covering the air filter intake tube and cutting off the air to the engine.

The 5.7L is a better value. We could not find that big of an improvement running the 6.4L

    I just replaced mine. Fortunately, it wasn't leaking into the harness but it pegged by oil pressure at 99 #. I replaced it along with the oil temp sensor. I also fund a cracked lower intake so I updated my lower intake to 17+ as well as 8 hole injectors. Runs great. I have never seen a oil leak into the harness before though.

    I believe it if it was mishimoto. their stuff sounds like the most amazing concept for jeep jks . they answer viable needs in a niche jeep performance sector for models which there aren't a lot of solutions out for ( oil senders, coolers, radiators, fans, caps, etc.) so garner business; the thing they fail so repeatedly miserably at is execution. everything , everything they make develops a fault somewhere down the short road. I admin'ed a forum for Jeep JKs for 10 yrs - trust me, I have heard so many failures of Mishimoto parts) . I actually have their silcon radiator hoses on my 3.8l and from the fist mile have had a folded shop towel under the neck of the upper radiator which seeps occasionally

    Nice update JSS (keep the videos coming)… At first glance, you would think… Oh Wow, an Aluminum Oil Cooler! That would be Awesome… But very rarely is it the Housing that Leaks. It’s the O-Rings that have gone bad. And the Aluminum is a terrible at Heat Soak, and will run Hotter, and stay Hotter longer than the Plastic Factory one. And I had seen this before, and it’s hard to believe that the Oil could run through the actual wires… But it can, and does 🤔

    Aww sh*t...don't tell me that!!! Lol I literally just installed that same Mishimoto oil cooler like a week ago. But I did tighten the sensor a bit because I didn't feel like it was tight enough when it was sent. It was sticking out a but more than the stock one I took out. So I tightened it until the threads showing were about the same as the old stock one. How many miles did that customer go before he noticed the leak?

    Nice video. When I bought UD60s for my JK I was stuck deciding between 4.88 and 5.38 gears. I went 5.38 to support running up to a 40in tire in the future and didn't have plans for an engine swap. Currently running a 38in Nitto. When I had to make that decision your 8 speed swap wasn't out yet and had it been I would've gone 4.88 and then done the 8 speed. If I ever have to change the gearing I will go higher (numerically lower) to 4.88s and then can set sights on doing the 8 speed swap. From what I gathered following you these past few years, the Jk 3.6 with the 8 speed and 5.38s would not be good combo or at least would not be much better than what I already have. The 5 speed NAG1 w/ 5.38s makes using the jeep for daily tasks a less than ideal experience as it is.

    • @jeepspeedshop
      @jeepspeedshop 6 дней назад

      Using the Nag1 and 5:38 gears you must be running a high RPM, the 8 speed will help on the RPM side and should lower the RPM about 400..
