People seem surprised by how good Oldman's Aussie accent was, this guy a true chameleon, accents seem like a walk in the park for him.
Wow, that's a fantastic Australian accent, very impressed! When most people try they sound very exaggerated like a Steve Irwin-type, but Gary's definitely got the subtleties down!
Yeah, the Aussie accent tends to be a lot subtler than people think, especially in the main urban centres where most Aussies live.
Much better than Meryl Streeps attempt!
+Samuel McGregor Americans suck at accents...
unless you're Depp or Day lewis.
+GamerDares wins When did Daniel Day-Lewis become American?
KingKaitain He's not American?
I’m Australian and I can say that he did an amazing Aussie accent 👏🏼🇦🇺
Depends, East Coast northerners and southerners have slightly differing speech the further inland ya get. Our accent is proportionately heavier as the population density becomes more sparse and the regional centers more remote. Occupation, class status and neighborhood all foster some difference though there can be outliers with high education from the most unlikely occupation/class/status family setting, and compelling family history backstory, just as new money can still produce bogans with the insight of a rock.
Seriously, does Oldman have an on/off switch for these accents. He's so flawless. What I would do to be coached by him. (sighs calmly) I think pigs flying would come before that ever does.
Baltazar Martinez
Well, we can hope.
Matthew Moran
you don't like Gary?
Baltazar Martinez
What????? No! No, no, no, no.
Matthew Moran
oh.. Okay. Guess I read your comment wrong. I thought you meant "we can hope," as in we can hope he has an off switch "so he "shuts up." cuz apparently some people hate him/his accents.
Baltazar Martinez
I know. :(
As an Aussie...the way he varies his tone in the second attempt is absolutely spot on. Perfect.
Ι have watched many times Gary Oldman being on many TV shows with other actors and showbiz persons and he's unfailingly, without fail, all the time, absolutely generous with them, passing themes to them, giving them his time, paying attention to them. A most gracious man.
Gary is one of my favourite actors in the world and his Australian is simply amazing. Coming from an Australian.
Still not as good as Meryl Streep however, in Evil Angels.
The role he played in "Leon the professional" still haunts.
So scary still gives me nightmares
it haunts "everyone"
You need to see the Analyzing Evil video about it by The Vile Eye. It’s great.
It was a sublime performance.
Whenever an English person is in America for along time they come back Australian.
+Miguel Rodriquez why?
+Woei-Sheu Wu listen to oldman's voice. its a weak australian accent by default now.
No, it doesn't
Doesn't sound anything like an Aussie accent!
Miguel Rodriquez Have you been to Australia before? You should go it's really nice
I'm Aussie. That was a good Aussie accent.
Holy crap gary oldman actually does an aussie accent.
Usually attempts at australian accents piss me off so much because it makes us sound like we are all yobos.
Aren't you?
@@modgrip805 beat me to that lmfao
As a fellow Australian, I resemble that remark ;)
Try being a true cockney then!
Yeah we get the same in NZ. Really hard accent to nail.
It took me nearly 20 years to figure out where the hell he came from. I mainly was a fan of his because of his ability to nail even the most obscure accents, like the old school West Tennessee/Arkansas accent he spoke as Zorg in the Fifth Element.
I went to school with him south London
Gary oldman has melted my butter, for like 30 years 😍🤭🙌
Love Gary Oldman. Excellent, classy actor. Glad he was finally given an Oscar.
I'm so totally in love with Gary Oldman.
Me too
Who isn’t? Right?
Gary…my absolute favourite actor!
Gary Oldman. My favorite actor of all time.
Gary should have gotten an Oscar for his role as Dracula He was so good, giving creepy a entire new vibe. I can t believe he was overlooked for his performance in this role
Should have gotten one for Immortal Beloved.
Oscars are more like knighthoods and damehoods: they do not give awards merely for excelling in a field.
Actually, awards would be declared deserted more often than not, were they only about talent: acting talent has it even harder because it is heavily reliant on the script, reason why bad actors get nominated or even win Oscars for the good parts they are given.
I've heard that in some of his creepy roles he was referred to as "scary Gary" by some cast members. If you saw "The Professional" you'd know what they meant.
Master of accents, amazing actor.
Just watched "Leon, The Professional". Can't believe it's the same Gary Oldman.
+DudeSkywalker That my all time favourite movie and I still have a hard time seeing him in stuff like the Batman trilogy and realizing its the same guy.
Watch "True Romance" and "Murder In The First" one after another. They were made only a year apart. While Christian Slater looks and sounds exactly the same in both movies, you would be amazed how different Oldman's pimp and warden are.
Yeah, some definite Mickey Mouse bull squash there... 😉
Whooow!!! Danny was the best Policemen Officer I had ever seen!
Love Gary Oldman, in darkest hours...⭐️
I've been in NW England for 9 years now (I'm American) and get confused for all sorts: Aussie, NZ, and lately, quite a few have asked if I'm Irish. Things just slip, as Gary says, into the local dialects, etc. And when your "birth-accent" begins to mix with your "adoptive accent" things can get interesting.
Most of my family is Yorkish and my grandpa is literally the epitome of an old yorkie bloke.
I emulated that and, living in Norfolk, had the mickey taken out of me for years.
I'm Irish but have lived in north England for 7 years, and I've had a few people think I'm Canadian!
***** That's interesting! Because Michigan is my birthplace, and it borders Canada. So accents may be quite similar.
Interesting
I'm from London and struggle to understand someone from the north of the UK.
Gary Oldman’s Aussie accent is really good
the most underated and the greatest actor of our times.
Underrated? He's quite well-loved and respected in whatever he does.
@@pirimpallopirimpalli4932 exactly. The word "underrated" is possibly the most stupid term on the internet at this present point in time.
"They come for our blood, but drown in their own!" I'm not much of a movie nut but the first incarnation of Reznov was one hell of a character, Oldman was flawless.
Gary Oldman is a Legend!
Gary Oldman's voice is the definition of uncanny valley.
Gary Oldman is the best voice actor in the world
Toni Collette is nothing but just stunning... I I fell in love with her at murals wedding..
I never got an invite....
Muriel. A mural is a wall painting.
From an Aussie, he nailed it!
Gary Oldman: LEGEND 💜
Love the three of them. All awesome actors
i always thought gary sounded australian, even as he speaks now! funny that he would do one in this interview
Gary Oldman great artist!
I love Gary Oldman! He was utterly fantastic as Sirius Black from the Harry Potter series and as the dragon guardian of fire Ignitus fron the Legend of Spyro series. Just his normal speaking voice is enough to make me melt. :)
HOLY SHIT, I didn't notice that Legend of Spyro thing and I've played that game several times before! Cool :D
LEGEND : Gary Oldman.
What a goddamn gem this man is!
My favorite actor Gary Oldman :)
He doesn't sound British in this...he really lost his British accent and that is insane.
+broomsterm I've lived in many different parts of the world and known many Americans in those different places and I've never come across an American who lost his/her American accent. Never.
broomsterm If they're really young, but this guy lost it in his late 20s and 30s.
MetteC5 I don't remember the film but there was a film that needed American actors to portray American characters in a British film yet all the American actors in britain had a slight British accent so they decided to hire British actors to pretend to be American on film. It happens.
David Harrison Mel Gibson lost his Aussie accent. My sister who migrated to the US in her 20s lost her accent and acquired an American accent. Younger people usually are better with new languages and accents but people with a good ear no matter what age can acquire another accent after some time
nenabunena interesting! Thanks for widening my horizon (no irony) :)
nick frost.... totally nails it, incredible !
*Happy 60th Birthday Gary*
Goddam Toni Collette does such a perfect American accent I always forget she isnt one.
Very accurate accent. I can sympathise with most people who can't do an Australian accent because it is very difficult to replicate. For a very good Aussie accent you need to know the subtleties and try not to go really exaggerated which is easy to do.
People from Australia think I sound English, people from England think I sound Australian. And I can't claim to sound like either. So when I try my birth accent (Australian), I go really broad.
First time I saw Gary was in "Air Force One" maan he was so good at playing Russian Loyalist. I went back to the movie theater 3 times because of him. He was so good at being the bad guy in that movie that I wasn't even paying attention to Mr. Ford who was portraying America president.
How dapper is Nick Frost with the reddish beard and that wonderful suit!!!
It is not a wonderful suit.
Suits are horrible.
This is why nobody invites Abigail to parties.
This is the only talk show on the planet that is actually worth watching.
The trouble with Graham's show is, once you start watching it on RUclips, you can be here for hours watching more episodes.
He will always be Sirius Black to me. ❤❤❤
Gary Oldman sounds Australian with a hint of a Cockney accent
Apparently our accent evolved from the cockney accent.
As an Australian! That was damn on!
love Gary
Isn't he Zorg from 5th element,loved that movie :))
His Australian was amazing omg !
Three of my favourite actors on one settee
Toni Collette and Gary Oldman are two of the best performers for accents you will ever see on screen
According to me Oldman
Has proven to be a great professional.
Agreed!
thats actually a good aussie accent
i lost it slightly when nick slipped into his danny voice
I had no idea Toni Collette was Austrailian......!
+Lydia Burns Yes. Toni is best known for playing the lead role in the movie "Muriel's Wedding". She also appeared on the Hugh Grant movie "About A Boy"
Oh yes, I remember now. And she played the little boy's mother in 'The Sixth Sense'. She
is amazing.
+Melanie-Joanne Haughton She's amazing, hahaha! "Give it a crack, hun!" I've seen more of her in interviews, ceremonies and guest spots than I have in films, but I think it's time to see something she's been in and my sister will undoubtedly be over the moon because she's always threatening to make me watch Muriel's Wedding :D
If you haven't seen "Muriel's Wedding", you really must. She is so great in it...you'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll cringe.
check out Hereditary
lol gary oldman is a legend
Wow Toni looks fabulous!!
Thanks for posting.
Gary oldman is the best!
I love this woman
Jesus Christ Nick Frost is HUGE ...
Only 5'7 actually.
@@Kerorofan1990 Yeah he's got a much bigger cushion to sit on than everyone else... his ass is one hell of a size.
@@Kerorofan1990 wtf my brain fried
This is apparently what my family thinks too and yet my American mates think I still have an accent 15 yrs later!
Gary, which accents do you like best?
EEVEERRYYOOONNNEEEEEE
Great actor
The thumbnail looks like a still shot from a pretty chill gangster meeting
I 1st saw Gary Oldman playing an American and assumed he was an American, when I saw him playing a brit I thought ' mm, that's not a bad English accent from a yank ''
Damn Nick Frost is HUGE in that first shot.
"Smiley's People"
Wish they had filmed that as well.
"Keep firing...keeeeppp firing"
If you live a long time away from the country or region you were born and raised you adapt to the new pronunciation.
Frost has a great beard
Toni Collete is breathtaking!
Toni Collette looks great here 🦊
a chameleon!!! he is brilliant!!!
Toni is all class!
Gary old man should do an Australian comedy 😂😂
Oldman is quite probably the best actor of his generation. He's in Oliver Reed's league to me...
And Gary Oldman has a very slight American undertone when speaking in interviews. Cary Elwes and John Mahoney really adapted strong American dialects. Cary Elwes a strong American undertone, a hard mix of an American and English accent, and in the late John Mahoney’s case a complete change into an American accent.
Is Nick Frost huge, or is everyone else really tiny?
He is 1.70m
He is a big dude, but Toni Collette and Gary Oldman are average
He got HUGE. He's a heart attack waiting to happen.
Toni Collette is SOOO beautiful
Are you fucking blind?? She looks like a man. Her face has so many masculin features you have to be gay to find her pretty.
Mark Jones Her fucking man-jaw! Her huge masculine features like the rugged nose. It looks like a guy in drag, I was at some point looking for an adams apple. Who would find this troll beautiful??
Mark Jones 'Out of my league'..?? I wouldn't want her even if she threw herself at me. Good for you that you like her and think she's gorgeous, you really shouldn't care what I think. I like way more petite and feminine women, like say Marisa Miller or sporty women like say Torri Wilson.
Mark Jones Fair enough! Have a nice day, sir!
@Mark Jones gang tattoo, awesome lol
He does a lot of American characters and lives in America so I can see how he could lose some of the British accent. He is an amazing actor no doubt it.
I know an Irishman who lost his accent after being in America for 40 years. I would try never to lose my accent if I were in his shoe's because it makes you unique & gets you laid.
Well if he's been there 40 years I assume he is around 60 so, like, forget pussy mate.
My best friend's wife is from Ireland and they've been married and living here in the US for over 50 years. The only time her accent comes out now is if she gets agitated - so I feel it's my duty to get her animated about something every time we visit them.
Nick Frost is massive
+logical fruit with tiny arms.
like a T-Rex
that has a beard
Awwe Toni Collette looks so pretty 🌼🌸💐
Gary a brilliant
Nick Frost, by the way, was born, raised, educated and played rugby in the parts of Essex that are now considered East London. (He said where he wasn't from but not where he was from. Thought I'd fill in the gap.)
"EVERYONNNNNNEEEEEE!"
My favourite character he played is Jim Gordon
To me he will always been Sirius black- love Gary
A little bit of a disservice to him, Oldman is arguably one of the greatest actors of all time, you should really check out his other performances, they will blow you away. I dont think he can really have one character tied to him, hes been perfect and truly disappears in every single role he does
I know I loved him before the role of Sirius black but my fav role of him was Sirius black out of all the roles he ever played so but what I wanted to say is that there would never be another Sirius black even when I read the book i pic him in the character
RyanGiggsOBE tbh the first time I saw him ever was as the villain in the fifth element which is one of my fave movies.
meggie Black Norman Stansfield for me
+meggie Black " Sir Ian McKellen, you will forever be remembered as Gandalf. How does it feel to have 35 years of superb service to theatre and film just shitted out on to a large pizza shovel and baked in to obscurity?"
They never seem to air my interviews...
I don't know why but listening to him speak stresses me out
EVERYONE!!!!!!
Gary olman was my fave in leon
Toni Collette remembers me to Emma Thompson...
"Kevin, there's a shark in the water!"
In awe at the size of nick frost
When I saw the woman's shirt I thought I was having double vision LOL
Gary Oldman 😍
