* SCALP QUESTION ANSWERED * I explained why I use shampoo and it’s to remove product build up from my hair strands so they can open up properly and absorb moisture instead of being weighed down. Usually when I rinse I massage it into my scalp but my scalp is sensitive to shampoo so if I put it directly on there my scalp will itch or burn. If I need to do something to my scalp that will be on my scalp treatment day. The natural hair community made this massive rule that either you don’t use shampoo or you only use it on your scalp. Break away from those rules and find what works for you. Please don’t ask me why I didn’t put shampoo on my scalp, I do what my hair & scalp needs me to do...not what the natural hair community tells me to.
Amen sister... I use a ACV/water mix most of my wash days and save shampoo for after protective style or long periods of laziness 😜 I've heard so many opinions on how often to wash but I listen to my hair not RUclips!
Why haven't I found you earlier. Have been peeking at other natural hair channels and a lot of the common procedures that get advocated, make me irk at some point. Finely someone who slightly touch on the "scalp vs strands" dilemma. Know it is a subject among Caucasians (predominantly among straight and wavy types), but is this even prevalent among us curly/ kinky girls? My scalp is also sensitive, maybe slightly worse. " Oil or shampoo their scalp" is the equivalent of opening the gate of hell in my case. The tantrums of my scalp can be unbearable. Because of the sensitivity, I have to strictly let the 2 inches of hair closest to the scalp free from styling, moisture and oil products. If not, hell will brake loose. My hair isn't exactly found of shampoo either, so that has to go. Even clay as replacement can be problematic, unless it has been 2-3 month without. Thankfully, I can at least live with soap plants, oat milk, vinegar and salt water (in moderation, solely for the scalp) as cleansers. But this requires a regimen free from silicones, petroleum and heavy gels and waxes. So far, so good. Will keep an eye on your channel 🙂
Chazzzisawesome i havent finished the video so maybe you mentioned it and im not there yet, but do you have a video on your scalp treatment day? How do you cleanse your sensitive scalp?
I wish me and my hair had an understanding. We still trying to get along after 7 years but we slowly moving in the right direction. Maybe next year we can be best friends, we'll see
I have coarse medium porosity hair, and it's refreshing to see that there are ytubers with coarse hair. It seems a lot of hair ytubers have fine, super shiny hair, and a lot of times when I watch them I have to remind myself that my hair is coarse and will look different.
I don't detangle my hair while it is wet. I keep it in a stretched out state during the washing process (bantu knots) and then I wrap it in a t-shirt, take that off and let it air dry most of the way. Then I put on a product with slip and detangle it at that time. Makes the detangling process SO much easier.
When you said twenty minutes to wash and STYLE...my wig almost disintegrated 🧐SIS HOW Can’t relate. Show me this natrulista voodoo witchcraft magic spell book. I have a similar texture and curl pattern, from what I can tell through the video, and it takes me at least a day of just staying home. I clean up and do homework while deep conditioning or with whatever treatment I’m doing but never in my life have I done my hair in 20 minutes. I love your videos tho I just can’t relate I’m sorry.
This video isn’t about relating...it’s about learning. I’ve been doing my hair for almost 7 years like this. It’s the best way I found to do my hair and I’ve gained some speed over the years. This is what happens when you find a routine that works for you. When I was 3 years in I couldn’t “relate” but over time with experience I learned.
I love that you actually embrace having type 4 hair. I feel like too many of us keep trying to convince ourselves that we have "curls" and that our hair is curly when it's not. And I also feel like people put way too much stress on curl definition. Our type 4 hair just doesn't do that, and it's okay! So I love how much you just embrace everything that type 4 hair is.
Type 4 hair is curly when it has an abundance of water. Like how chaazz hair looks in this video. But usually type 4c hair looks kinky and coily but moisture is key.
ITS SO DIFFICULT I HATE FREAKING DOING IT!!! That’s why you guys don’t see that many washing videos from me 😹😹😹 see these youtubers with money have pretty bathrooms to film in...I don’t 😹😹😹
I wanted to comment on letting your hair dry before styling (I've been doing this for at least 5 months). I have noticed my hair likes when I air dry my hair with a turban for at least one hour before adding a styler/leave-in and then I twist or braid my hair. The product seems to absorb better and stay moisturized longer during the week. It also doesn't take forever for my twists or braids to dry when it's not soaked in water. My hair type is 4C, dense, and low porosity.
Chazzzisawesome Another hair RUclips person said it on a wash day routine and I said I should try that. Honestly don’t remember which one because I watch a lot of channels. I’m hoping this will help me retain more length because I’m still in short Afro stage. Thanks for all your tips 😊
my biggest hair issue is detangling...You often mention how your hair is trained to always be sectioned and always detangled. watching you pull that comb through a large section of hair with a conditioner you described as not having very much slip made me double take. Your comment about your wash day taking 20 minutes was equally as shocking! What did you do to "train" your hair?
I stuck with the same regimen for years 😹😹😹. I don’t venture out which is good and bad. The bad is I receive breakage in the same areas so over time I have some broken areas that are extremely short. It doesn’t bother me so do beware.
Me too!!!! I was having that issue, with trying to style my hair when wet and was wondering why I had so much breakage. Since I started styling my damp hair i have noticed less breakage and a normal amount of shedding.😁
I love these types of videos. I see the real adventures of 4c. I’ve been training my hair in this similar fashion and I’m relieved to know I wasn’t just being extra. 😂😂💙
I am happy you made a point of dry styling. I have recently gotten out of the TWA stage and find that a "wash-n-go" works better for me if my hair is dry or somewhat dry. Many days I will wash, condition, do a leave in or moisturizer and twist it in sections. In the next couple of hours, or days, I would style it like I would when I had a TWA and my hair does better and I use a lot less product on my hair. I love the advice that you give in your videos and how you explained the different stage of hair growth. You helped me to know that I no longer have a TWA. (but some days I wish I did)
Do you have a video on “training” your hair on wash days? I want to be able to go through my wash day as quickly but safely as possible and would like your take on how you do it! I’m also a lo-po 4abc mostly frizzy and non-silky texured haired girl just like you :) I will also try the “toweling” method . I might’ve unconsciously done it before but haven’t really noticed whether it was better than styling soaking wet.
I will be! I never noticed it either to be honest. Styling my hair soaking wet is so EASY!!! However I did notice I was starting to suffer from breakage and that’s when I found this idea.
Akilah George maybe because your hair isn't moisturize enough try to put on a plastic bag to add some heat or add to your conditionner some oils for moisture
@@alldatzyall7356 I have tried, trust me! only a good deep conditioner seems to work, unless I can find a really moisturizing conditioner cuz my hair is really coarse😳
You shared some very useful information. Most people don't realize hair is at its weakest when it's wet. Since I've been natural, I've been detangling my hair dry. I prefer to detangle with oil as a pre-poo. I'm not bold enough to apply shampoo to my hair without detangling it first. I started that practice back when I was relaxed.
Oh my gosh been watching natural hair videos for sometime wish I would've found you like two years ago it's March 2021 PANDEMIC and I have been struggling with my natural hair for awhile I will binge watch to find out new techniques I am type 4 course and very thick low porosity I think my hair stays dry all the time no matter what I put in it I use every kinda moisturizer and it seems thicker not longer I use no heat thanks for the great tutorials
I can relate I have to towel dry my hair to able to have product absorb into my hair. Then spray my hair for sections that are too dry to manipulate. I don’t my hair get all the way dry but I can’t style soaking wet hair.
I definitely agree, I'm a new natural and understand I need water but to much doesn't work for my low porosity type 4b hair. I use my micro towel before I detangle and add product
I use the shower combs to detangle just like on the video and my hair is shorter than this. My ends aren't very old because I cut them regularly. I'm glad to see nourishing shampoos used that allows clumping to occur at the ends.
Thank you for this. My hair does not like water at all it makes it hard, so I have always dried my hair this way. And whenever I spritz my hair before product it always sucks and shrinks. I need to stop doing other's routines seriously and do what works for me even though it is not the norm I guess. This video has just reinforced this to me 👏🏽
Beautiful hair Chazz! I wash my hair in smaller twisted sections though. I just plait the sections to keep it stretched as it air dries and then the next day I style.
I’ve been struggling. I hate doing my natural hair! 😩😩😩 So, I’ve been straightening it with a blow dryer and flat iron. I haven’t lost any length. I’m not a hair person. I can’t do it. I enjoy watching you and Bear though.
Aww thank you!!! You might want to try it out. Your curl pattern has probably loosened up a bit which will make it 10 times more easier. However if you don’t, what you are doing is fine. As long as your hair is healthy and you aren’t using a relaxer it’s all good.
You and your hair are beautiful 😍. I'm glad I found you. Ten years ago, I don't think there were many RUclipsrs with my hair texture on RUclips. I use to do alot of the steps when I was growing up. Now I'm transitioning back to natural. Seeing if can add anything to my n natural hair arsenal. Thanks for sharing your tips and tricks!
I use this method mostly. Shampoo, deep condition. I towel dry my hair (not completely, about 70% or more) because my roots would be wet for too long. I live in Guyana so any towel is used. Depending on my mood, I can let my hair shrink and style the nest day or stretch it with braids then style later in the week. I'm still learning my hair and how to style it.
Can one of you guys PLEASE do a video about the Detangle Eye?!?! All of us do the Detangle Eye without even realizing it and it must be addressed lol. Much love ❤️
Opp I’m sorry. I will doing another video explaining it. Basically our hair is super weak when it’s wet but as a natural we think the only way to detangle is on soaking wet hair. If soaking wet hair is extremely weak, which means prone to breakage, why would we even attempt to do that. I started styling and detangling my hair on dry hair.
Once I started drying my hair, it became so manageable and my styles came out so much better! Never really thought about until I heard you say something about the water damage.
Chazz! Yes! You have said two things now on this channel that seem weird but I completely agree! This is one of them! I have always said my hair prefers products when its dry. My styles are better. My hair stays moisturized longer! N I get pillow soft hair! Second thing you said that I was like subscribe immediately...you noticed your hair prefers snotty custardy consistency products! Oh my word! Yes!! Third the shower brush is ride or die! You make videos that have new and update ideas about type 4 hair. I'm here for it! Thank you
I don't know if it was because the video was sped up.. but it seemed like you focused on your hair with the shampoo vs your scalp, even when you said you were going to rinse it out, you could see along the part in the front that the scalp had not even been touched. Is that how you normally clarify your hair or is there something we missed off camera?
Shampoo dries my scalp out and I said I would be removing product build up from my hair...therefore shampoo needs to go on the hair. I’m not necessarily trying to cleanse my scalp. I have a hot oil treatment for that. However do keep in mind I’m filming blindly. I don’t know what I look like and I’m not trying to get water or soap in my electrical cords or equipment so I do the best I can. You can put on your scalp or not. It’s up to what’s best for your hair. When I rinse out I massage the rinse onto my scalp but that’s about it.
I’m definitely going to try out the Aquis turban. I been looking for another alternative to drying my hair because I noticed that using a regular towel breaks off some of coils.
you know Chazz...that was something I realized on my own. i dont comb or brush my hair wet unless there are other products in it like conditioner or whatever. i do moisten the strands with my aloe water 1st if my hair is completely dry but not to the point of dripping wet just a little moistened and then i add the product. i do lco method mostly. i find with the damp hair the products absorb better or is easier to work in. I dont have that brand towel but i have another microfiber towel that i use 4 my hair but when im in the need of a new one ill look into this brand. thanks for the knowledge my fellow type 4 naturalista
I literally just saw you on Instagram and said omg she has my hair type. I found your page and subscribed!! Finally!!!!!! Omg i thought i would never find someone with mixture 4 hair and low porosity 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
My hair always snaps and breaks when I style wet/damp. I always thought that you NEVER detangle on dry hair you always have to use a spritz bottle...never worked for me. I thought my hair was just weird lol I'm glad you talked about it.
I will definitely be purchasing the turban. I have type 4 hair and have been natural for two years, also low porosity. I can not seem to retain length. Maybe, this will help! Thanks for sharing.
thank you so much i have never been into detangling wet hair-- i personally dont like to do it when its dry either, i like it to be damp, ill settle for dry, but I def dont comb when wet
I came to the same conclusion!!! My hair feels so weak as it’s grown and when it’s wet, coming out as I detangle. I’ve started doing damp to dry. I think my hair will bounce back to it full and thick self.
YOU ARE AWESOME CHAZZ! I cant begin to thank you enough for recommending that shampoo brush! I was skeptical at first because i have strong 4c hair but i bought it and its the best thing that has happened to my detangling life! Soo easy to use and hair just glides through!! OMG im so happy! thank you!
I also don’t put conditioner on my daughters scalp , and never allow creams or anything to touch her scalp , but I do use a little tea tree oil on it from time to time , I also believe adding more water takes away from the products 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
I do something similar i don't de-tangle until the end... I wrap my hair in a towel for a few minutes, put in my leave in and then de-tangle so simple..and if there are a lot of tangles i add shea butter and i can pull the strands out easily (i've been transitioning for 18 months also so you know the struggle it real)
I don’t do complicated hairstyles 😹😹😹 that’s about it. I’m so lazy that I rip my hair out with combs and stuff when I get frustrated or tired so I make it a point to keep it simple.
Lately, actually, within the last 2-3 months, my hair has broken of tremendously. I am type 2 diabetic, and Lately, my skin and especially my left foot is extremely dry, Then about 2 weeks ago my scalp is extremely dry and itchy. It reminds me of a baby cradle cap. I also have been wearing scarves to work because of the job, but it also went to me wearing them all day. But anyhow I have lost about 8 inches of hair of about 12 inches. I have 4C hair type I think. about 1/2 inch of my hair roots is baby soft. It runs in my family all 19 of my sibling have the same type of hair. My hair was doing fine and then it just started breaking off. I am 59 years old. Or maybe it's stress. What can I do to save my hair? I'm not one for extreme hairstyles, maybe once or twice a year for a special occasion. But right now as of 12/25/18 my hair and scalp need help.
Hey! So happy to find this channel! Love your videos! Where can i find that shampoo brush any ideas? I use denman but it doesn't feel so right with my hair, my hair is similar to yours however a lot longer which makes it harder to detangle. Thank you and much loveeeee
Hi Chazzzisawesome!! I wash my hair like you over the tub. I know you're a loose natural and my hair is locked, I find that shampooing my hair this way helps me to get it cleaner!! You hair looks awesome by the way!!
Just ordered the turban 😀hope it works I have fine strands n very prone to breakage. N I’ve never considered it maybe me working with my hair aka Sasha lol while she’s wet🤞🏾🤔 thanks
Girl I just bought the hair turban from Sephora... I used a towel all my life and decided to make the switch so I was looking on amazon for a hair turban . So glad I came across your video ( just subscribed btw) . Have you ever used the other Aquis hair products and how to they work on our natural hair ? PS ... I think I may have to binge watch all your videos offer the holidays ... those that I have seen so far are full of useful content , unlike some others I’ve seen and had to ask myself .... but why though ?!!! Thanks for being real !!!
I can't afford that towel yet! Lol, but I'll definitely will use my t-shirt more. One thing that I learned from this video is that I don't have to use water to throw in my styler and leave-in. Thanks for this information!
I’m always afraid when my hair parts easily because then I feel like if breakage were to occur, that’s where it’s going to happen lol. Anyone else feel that way? And when I get to the end of my transitioning period and cut these ends off, I will be the luckiest girl in the world if my hair is as thick and beautiful as yours
I personally discovered the longer my hair got the worse 4 sections perfomed on my hair.my tightest/dryest part (crown) wasn't getting any love so I had to adjust my parting/grid

I can relate I have to towel dry my hair to able to have product absorb into my hair. Then spray my hair for sections that are too dry to manipulate. I don’t my hair get all the way dry but I can’t style soaking wet hair.
I was doing that for so long and I’ve received so much breakage! Y’all should’ve said something ! 😹😹😹
I have high porosity hair so you think it would work lol @@Chazzzisawesome
I definitely agree, I'm a new natural and understand I need water but to much doesn't work for my low porosity type 4b hair. I use my micro towel before I detangle and add product
Same here i like to detangle on mostly dry hair and i have started spritzing wiith rosewater and aloe vera juice instead of water. My hair loves it
Finally someone with almost exactly my hair type!!!😊
I use the shower combs to detangle just like on the video and my hair is shorter than this. My ends aren't very old because I cut them regularly. I'm glad to see nourishing shampoos used that allows clumping to occur at the ends.
Thank you for this. My hair does not like water at all it makes it hard, so I have always dried my hair this way. And whenever I spritz my hair before product it always sucks and shrinks. I need to stop doing other's routines seriously and do what works for me even though it is not the norm I guess. This video has just reinforced this to me 👏🏽
Good point re: water damage. I never dry my hair either. My hair doesn’t drip wet for long and I leave the water for moisturizer and styling
I really found this video helpful. I washed my hair today; however it felt like to took forever to get it done.
I have a hair turban I’ve been using for years even before I was natural. My hair also hates water for moisture it actually makes it more dry.
I've tried urban hydration's bodycare products and love it. I'm gonna have to try the haircare products
Right! Especially since it’s so inexpensive. I got it from Marshall’s for a steal.
@@Chazzzisawesome that's where I found my products!
I like how your guyanese and actually type properly. Everybody I know is a mess 🙅🏾 even my momma 😂
Can one of you guys PLEASE do a video about the Detangle Eye?!?! All of us do the Detangle Eye without even realizing it and it must be addressed lol. Much love ❤️
😹😹😹 you are killing me!
Ha!!
Can you please talk about the tower drying thing more cause I had no idea what you were talking about 😅
Opp I’m sorry.
Thank you
Omg I hate when my mom wash my hair like that kneeling against the bath tub and like my neck is in serious pain I just can’t do it 😂 like it hurts😂
I love your personality so much. This videos was so helpful and entertaining ❤️ thanks girlll
😁You're so funny to me! You're the only one who makes the faces I make while dangling! Kudos to you for going through this every week👍
Just bought garnier lock moisturize combo and that ish is the truth for my break a comb nappy of the nappiest hair.
That makes sense, because personally my hair is easier to style and manage when my hair is damp and not soaking wet.
I think my hair will bounce back to it full and thick self.
the fact that i remember your big chip and now you're at this length yes ma'am
I will definitely be starting to use the hair turban and not using water as much💯
YOU ARE AWESOME CHAZZ! I cant begin to thank you enough for recommending that shampoo brush! I was skeptical at first because i have strong 4c hair but i bought it and its the best thing that has happened to my detangling life! Soo easy to use and hair just glides through!! OMG im so happy! thank you!
You have beautiful hair.
I can’t wait till my hair longer , when it was long soooo much easier for me wash detangle An style then on short hair
Ehhh kind of.
I love watching your vids! It seems like we cut off out hair at the same time so when I see your hair progress, it helps me measure my progress too😁❤
Aww snaps that’s cool!
Yass a new video im french and i very like you chanel❤️😁
Oh wow your French! Thank you so much for watching!
You are naturally beautiful! Hair, skin, and eyes!
Lol still watching your videos even though I big chopped like I said I would ♡
YAY!!!! Thank you!
*I have been **_waiting_** for this!* 😄
Girl I can agree I got the same texture all type 4 and I have both high and low
I like how shine and soft your hair looks ❤️❤️😊chazzz you’re growth ❤️❤️😍any secrets how you retain your length 😊😊😊
I don’t do complicated hairstyles 😹😹😹 that’s about it. I’m so lazy that I rip my hair out with combs and stuff when I get frustrated or tired so I make it a point to keep it simple.
Girl you caught as I was about to get in the shower! Love the video ☺️
Still waiting on that low sleek bun with your hair 🙂
You right you right 😹😹😹 I need to get to work.
Hey! So happy to find this channel! Love your videos! Where can i find that shampoo brush any ideas? I use denman but it doesn't feel so right with my hair, my hair is similar to yours however a lot longer which makes it harder to detangle. Thank you and much loveeeee
I just want to say I'm so happy to have found your channel its like finding another fellow type 4 natural hair ista :) I no longer feel alone lol
I wish my hair and I had an understanding
It takes time, patience, and love don’t worry you will get there 😹
Thanks I'm going to try your method. I think my hair is breaking because I spray my hair. I didn't grow up doing that.
Can you please start putting the products you are using in your information box?
I am so happy I found your channel we are literally hair twins 😭😭
😹😹😹
It has grown sooooo much😍😍😍😍
Hi Chazzzisawesome!! I wash my hair like you over the tub. I know you're a loose natural and my hair is locked, I find that shampooing my hair this way helps me to get it cleaner!! You hair looks awesome by the way!!
Hum🤔 I will give the no water come out a try. Thanks for vid❤️
This lady is preachin!!!!!
I can't afford that towel yet! Lol, but I'll definitely will use my t-shirt more. One thing that I learned from this video is that I don't have to use water to throw in my styler and leave-in. Thanks for this information!
hola! so I want to ask do you recommend to ALWAYS pre-poo your hair before shampooing?
I’m always afraid when my hair parts easily because then I feel like if breakage were to occur, that’s where it’s going to happen lol. Anyone else feel that way?
And when I get to the end of my transitioning period and cut these ends off, I will be the luckiest girl in the world if my hair is as thick and beautiful as yours
Brit Ferguson yes, I have two “dips” in my hairline because I always do side parts.
I personally discovered the longer my hair got the worse 4 sections perfomed on my hair.my tightest/dryest part (crown) wasn't getting any love so I had to adjust my parting/grid
