I usually do another protective style, bc I get single strand knots whenever I let my hair out. But now, I'll just do loose twists for about a week, then right back into protective styles. I dont let my hair out all like that bc I just dont have the time. I'm an engineering student in college and my free time is usually my sleep time or eating time lol

I put in braids without additional hair and leave them in for 3 mths at a time. I wash my hair every 2 weeks and ONLY redo the edges every 2 or 3 weeks as needed. My hair also mainly tangles at the roots so I just take my time with it after the 3mths has passed. That's made me retain a lot of length but what works for me may not work for others. Now that i'm about mid back length I only braid the roots and loosely twist the rest. Now that it's in twists I'll redo all the twists omitting the roots once a mth. Then after 3 mths has passed again I'll take out EVERYTHING.
After this protective style i'll normally leave my hair in big twists for about 2 weeks before putting back in the braids, or now loose twists with braided roots

I did go back to back for 10 months. I was doing crochet styles because I lost most of my hair due to sepsis. My intent was to regrow my hair and increase density. Due to the ayerverdic treatments and me only leaving a style in for 3 weeks max, I achieved my goal of fuller thicker healthier hair. I did a moderate chop after that and continued the practices. My hair now is about 90% back to the way it was. For regular situations I leave the protective styles in for 2-3 weeks and then I won't revisit for a few months. I do low manipulation styles often.

It’s rare that I wear it out because of single strand knots/ I don’t like for my ends to be exposed to friction. Even when it’s in twists, it’s usually up or in a low bun. I can't stand that feeling when I shower after, my back feels gross, esp from the conditioner. Also I mostly wash my hair on its own, instead of when I shower. (I have a chronic pain condition, so I try not to combine too many things at once). My poor back, but that's just how I've done it since childhood. I only lean back when I'm at the hairdressers sink. If it's a hairstyle without extension like mini twist or braids, which i tend to keep 2 months i will just do after it a bun for few days (3 to 5). And finally if it's a zero manipulation style like crochet braids, as i normally keep it for 2 to 3 months, i will do 6 big braids that i will keep for 2 weeks.

My hair is not really on a schedule so I don't necessary protective style considering whether or not I should do another one. There are benefits though in going right into another p style. Last year I wore twists for about 3-4 months. I washed my hair in my twists once a month, moisturized, and twisted them over as I took them out. My hair grew and retained about 1 1/2 - 2 in. My hair is past bra strap length. It has never been this long and it's in good condition so I'm not opposed to back to back protective styling. I'm going to do it again for the summer 😁. Your hair has improved so very much. Are you still using 4C only. I tried Strands of faith. I like this line. Then went to Kinky Tresse. This line has worked better for me. I still have a lot left. I bought quite a bit. Trying to use it up and try the 4C only brand. I'm concern about spending so much on product and that has stopped me in my tracks from getting the line yet. I don't want to spend all that money to just get ok results. I want something to Penetrate and help More strides my severely dry hair. Make it more healthy. I have tried so many things and I'm still not where I want to be. My hair is dry, course, and tangles a lot. I have just about everything to help with hair. Like tools for hair. I deep condition my hair once a week. I don't use heat other that deep conditioning under hair dryer. I don't put hair color in my hair. I use Jojoba oil on my hair. I can't stand having greasy scalp. Coconut oil, don't do well with my hair. Aloe Vera plant make my scalp itch and hair dry. This is my second attempt at being natural. Have been natural for 3 years now. The time it was 3 years as well. It was a nightmare. Had to go back to perm. This time I said I won't let myself be defeated. I get knocked down, but I get back up. I'm trying...😊
    P.S. I'm loving your hair...great job!

After a long protective, I normally do "granny" plaits (if I'm too lazy, twists) at least for 1-2 weeks then it's on to the next protective style. If I'm going out between those 2 weeks then I'll pop on a wig but without any strong adhesive

After my protective styles, i normally put my hair in a low manipulation style for a week or two. I mostly time i just comb it in on backward twist the ends and tuck them away for a week if I keep it in for two weeks I ensure that I moisterize my hair .

Great video as usual sis.... I usually use aloe juice every wash day, but I wear my hair in twists for 2-3 weeks at a time (I blend the aloe in a bullet until its frothy and then run it through a sieve for my juice). Then I apply the juice to my hair and scalp after cleansing along with my leave in and sealant oil. I usually dont have to remoisturize for 5 days to a week.

I usually do a couple of cornbraids do that I can deep condition every four days for about three to four weeks before going back into a another protective style.

After a month long or more protective style I will leave my hair out for about a week. The next week is a low manipulation hairstyle for about another week to two weeks. My single strand knots are the worst but, I also have female baldness on both sides of my family so I frequently worry about too much tension.

If I had a protective style like box braids (they were a fav) or twists, I let my hair breath. I was that person leaving my protective styles for a month or more, so I would just leave my hair out after that for a month (at least, sometimes longer) to let my hair (especially them edges) breath.

Your hair type looks perfect for locking. Have you considered locking your hair? It naturally wants to tangle anyway.

I find that the auveydic herbs work pretty well for my 4c hair, when I just use the herbs and deep conditioner my hair is good. If I shampoo, use auveydic herbs & condition my hair is really dry afterwards.

I have some knotless braids in now. I’ll wear them for a couple of months and then I let my hair breathe and ‘heal’ from the ordeal. Braids can be drying and installing them causes some breakage as they are being installed and removed. I won’t be getting another set of braids until September

I usually do flat twists for about two weeks before another protective style. That's usually the way I let my hair rest.
