Gooodddd this hurts. I once read a fanfic that was majorly inspired by dementia. Nightmare didn’t exactly understand things after the incident, he was violent and seemingly didn’t care for Dream at all. It became nearly impossible for Dream to love him. But, sometimes, Dream would find him sitting quietly and alone and they would just stay like that together, neither saying anything because one is in a moment of vague recognition and the other knows that this is the closest to brotherhood they’ll ever get again.
This animatic reminds me of one of those moments, and that hurts
