I love how his quirks and personality was always consistent since the pilot. His impenetrable fortress, mentioning an insect collection, his brief remembering right after his fortress is stolen and his short memory joke. Such as screaming at realizing they are there when they were the whole time. All of this was part of his backstory. You even see his wife's door crossed over when they pass through the hall of their rooms.
I think Kinger's behavior is like a defense mechanism, he lets it all out and be goofy, an airhead, abd crazy to not descent himself into madness, and also the darkness calms him down and he became his old self again.
HERE ME OUT. When that one scene where Kinger had the bucket on his head, it's showing THE DARK WHERE HE CAN REMEMBER HIS MEMORIES! Then, when Kinger opens the bucket, he says, "Remember what?" Edit: You said it!!!!! :P
I’m honestly so happy that we got a Kinger focused episode considering I always thought he was interesting from when I watched the Pilot(especially on why he was so crazy and how he hadn’t abstracted yet). This episode is by far my favorite out of all of them so far, 9/10
The fact that this show keeps getting better and better has me very excited to see what happens next, I’m glad it hasn’t been like Hazbin Hotel so far where the pilot is really good and has great concepts that don’t get expanded on in a well-written manor for literally every episode after. Not that the episodes after the pilot of Hazbin Hotel are bad, but they’re not good either imo. The songs also add nothing to the story, and usually just repeat everything you already know without adding any insight to character development, the characters motivations, exposition, etc. literally all the songs do is restate the obvious and they’re not even good. The pilot genuinely is the best episode of the series, and it had very good potential imo it just didn’t live up to said potential
1:02 I have to disagree with this. Background characters are like their name suggests, just in the background and not doing anything except decorating sets. Kinger is more like a secondary character
Kinger honestly feels like a person with dementia or alztimers. he's loosing his memory's and perception of reality, but right now he's able to find a space ware we can remember and ground himself. but if he gets worse, even the dark wouldn't work anymore :(
Kinger was always my favourite character from the circus when it started, I somewhat knew there was more to him than meets the eye, and I can't believe I was right.
Seeing the part where kinger says "You look beautiful today, honey" with the context of his wife abstraction that I put together after seeing her door crossed out, I said "THAT'S SO F*CKED"
Kinger is insane = Kinger is broken Pomni is traumatized and anxious = pomni is the strongest of all characters Jax is a jerk to everyone = Jax is desperate and scared Gangle is too shy = Gangle is the smartest of all characters Ragatha is too nice to everyone = Ragatha is the scariest of all characters Zooble hates herself = Zooble is the most sensible and reasonable of all characters.
@@PandaOfferingWater how did that phrase go? I forget, but it was something along the lines of “hell hath no fury like women do” I felt that was pertinent to your statement
@@Eonblaster946 I do not remember neither, i wanna point out, that quote is true, now referring to Ragatha the worst we would SEE or feel with Ragatha. Is her dissapointment
I think the show might dive into caine more later, since especially in the therapy scene we kind of see how he’s not able to understand humans well and when he’s told that no one likes what he can do, everything stars glitching, that may be a lead for later?
As a person who's fav character is kinger i am so so amazed yet i feel sad for kinger, he's destined to be called insane and to forget important stuff in his life
I have a theory that’s a bit crazy, but I think Jax is going to abstract in one of the later episodes. Think about it, the people who abstracted allegedly were isolated, gave up, and were driven to insanity. Jax is shown isolating himself from the main group at the end of episodes 2 and 3, and he is clearly hopeless in episode 1 when he states several times there’s no way out. All that’s left is for him is to be driven insane, and he’s abstracted. Maybe pomni will save him before he fully abstracts, but it ain’t looking good for him.
Zooble’s parts changing episode to episode is explained in this one too, them changing their parts over and over again cause they can’t find anything they like…about themselves
Another thing that could be foreshadowing is in the merch trailer that came after episode one released. When Caine described the adventures of the next episodes, for episode 3’s adventure, instead of saying something goofy like “a haunted manor oooooooh” he simply says “Kinger with a shotgun” possibly hinting at the Kinger stuff that goes on in that episode. Idk though I might be wrong
Kinger has quickly become my favorite character. In this episode you can get a better glimpse at who Kinger used to be, presumably a goofy yet genuine guy with a passion for computer science. I like the cute detail of him hating computer bugs but end up becoming fascinated with real bugs because of his wife. His goofier side was probably developed as a coping mechanism and the truama of losing his wife and being in the circus for so long affected his memory, but I feel like Kinger always knows who he is and know matter what wants to be there for his friends, its just that the dark makes him think more clearly and brings him back to an older state of mind
As an animator, knowing to processes animators go through give you an even greater sense of the story. It's a bit hard to explain, but I feel you get more out of the story and the artists' choices.
I really like Zooble as a character the way glitch makes a topic like gender identity approachble and normalized is great(although I'm a cis male so idk) It is really interesting how the character avatars seem to reflect deep routed insecurities or flaws.
I think Kinger made the circus. think about it, Jax says in episode 1 he has been there the longest, Kinger says in episode 3 he was a computer engineer for 7 years, and he AND his wife were in the circus which is odd when you think about how the others got in. And no they probably didn't get married after they got stuck there because if you look in episode one as they are walking through the hall she is on a door and she looks like Kinger.
Tape guy describes himself becoming jumpy before accidentally killing his wife. my first thought was how it reminded me of kinger's jumpiness. combined with the "hows your wife?" line and kinger's inability to remember how he ended up in the fort with his then newly abstracted wife. Chat I think its an allegory for kinger accidentally causing his wife to abstract. also jax doesnt even know what his breath hold quirk is because he hasnt even tried because hes a coward
I don't agree that this is a message about masking, Kinger as no reason to want or need to hide his true self from others. this is a very direct message about people who struggle with memory loss and insanity, and shows that they are still people even if they're not always themselves or can't be "cured". kinger was a gentle and caring person before he lost his mind, and he's still that person deep down, he just isn't connected to the same reality anymore. there was ways to ground him temporarily, but it's not something that the crew can fix. but even if he can't remember the important memories and acts crazy sometimes, he's still someone worthy of love.
Surprised you didn't mention the "Seven years of computer science for this" comment, but I guess that just lead back to the pilot and whatever C & A is.
If you notice during certain scenes, including the tape player of the man narrating, it looks like a creepy face. There seemed to be a theme in this episode that has scenes with "easter eggs" of faces with "blank eyes", if that makes any sense.
I think that the people who say that kinger worked on developing the digital circus are probably correct. Sure, there is the 7 years in computer science thing, but that’s not the only clue. Something that’s overlooked is the fact that kinger had a wife in the circus. Theoretically, if a husband and wife were put into the digital circus, their memories would have been erased and they would have no knowledge of each other. So that begs the question as to why both kinger and his wife remembered they were married AND what their respective majors were. Another question is why is the headset having trouble keeping his memory suppressed? Kinger seems to be the only one who can remember their past. Perhaps the memory suppression could be a similar process to how they hold their breath? For example, darkness brings back kingers memories and when he holds his breath, he glows. He literally becomes a light in the darkness. Perhaps Pomni could remember her past if she does the opposite of whatever a rapidly changing hue shift would be?
i remember in episode 2, in the Kaufmo funeral scene, for a split moment Jax had a sad look before putting on a frustrated one. Foreshadowing? possibly yes. in which episode, no clue. also Caine glitching in the Zooble therapy thing

i also realized this is why kinger is usually seen in dark environments, like his fortresses and the bucket on his head
HERE ME OUT. When that one scene where Kinger had the bucket on his head, it's showing THE DARK WHERE HE CAN REMEMBER HIS MEMORIES! Then, when Kinger opens the bucket, he says, "Remember what?"
Edit: You said it!!!!! :P
Comment after you watch the video :v
@@Ergo288 Stop.
Open the bucket? 🤔
maybe wait until you watch all (or at least, most) of a video before commenting
@@SHRIMPO_HATES_EVERYTHING_DWFAN Yeah, you don't know?
It is also noticeable that he glows when he holds his breath, considering that light is a reflection of his mental state
I think gangle is gliding under the radar with all this. She's pretty isolated when she has the mask on, but still isolated when she has it off.
Ive never watched the digital circus cause its not been something ive been really interested in but this video might make me watch it
kinger mentions that he has a computer science degree as well, that could be important as to the origins of the circus, or maybe for a way out
"Some people in the light aren't exactly the same as they are in the dark"
Bruh maybe I'm kinger honestly
This kind of reminds me of mafuyu asahina from project sekai. Idk I’m probably tweaking
Kinger is me fr fr 😤
I’m honestly so happy that we got a Kinger focused episode considering I always thought he was interesting from when I watched the Pilot(especially on why he was so crazy and how he hadn’t abstracted yet). This episode is by far my favorite out of all of them so far, 9/10
I shed a tear in the scene where he opens up to pomni
Im really easy to get emotional:p
Kinger glowing when holding his breath will 100% be used in a future episode
Aww! Thanks dude! I was NOT expecting you to make this video. You always make stuff I actually WANT to see. Thank you :D
He a soldier that got ptsd cause of how skill full he is by shooting a double barrel.
Kinger officially became my favorite chracter now.
At the dark, kinger can only remember stuff before going back to the light and forgetting everything.
Honestly loved this episode so much.
The animation looks so much more polished it looked fantastic and the writing was perfect
Seeing the part where kinger says "You look beautiful today, honey" with the context of his wife abstraction that I put together after seeing her door crossed out, I said "THAT'S SO F*CKED"
You: “if you want to fight me about. Please meet me outside”
Me: *in a patio chair, with lemonade* you wanna talk?
kinger talking about his degree makes me think he might be a main character on its ending and he might be the creator of the digital circus
Kinger is insane = Kinger is broken
Pomni is traumatized and anxious = pomni is the strongest of all characters
Jax is a jerk to everyone = Jax is desperate and scared
Gangle is too shy = Gangle is the smartest of all characters
Ragatha is too nice to everyone = Ragatha is the scariest of all characters
Zooble hates herself = Zooble is the most sensible and reasonable of all characters.
What is your basis for these comparisons? Because these kind of make sense
Objection! Ragatha has a Motherly Caring character, Even if scary, she is not intimidating
Have to disagree with Ragatha, not sure about gangle but everyone else is spot on.
"Character is what you are in the dark."

I'm upset that you explained the metaphor of the thumbnail bc I wanted to figure it out myself, but other than that, this is an amazing video!
I think the show might dive into caine more later, since especially in the therapy scene we kind of see how he’s not able to understand humans well and when he’s told that no one likes what he can do, everything stars glitching, that may be a lead for later?
As a person who's fav character is kinger i am so so amazed yet i feel sad for kinger, he's destined to be called insane and to forget important stuff in his life
anyone else feels like that "seven years of computer science for THIS, huh?" line is....oddly specific?
I have a theory that’s a bit crazy, but I think Jax is going to abstract in one of the later episodes.
Think about it, the people who abstracted allegedly were isolated, gave up, and were driven to insanity. Jax is shown isolating himself from the main group at the end of episodes 2 and 3, and he is clearly hopeless in episode 1 when he states several times there’s no way out. All that’s left is for him is to be driven insane, and he’s abstracted. Maybe pomni will save him before he fully abstracts, but it ain’t looking good for him.
You become crazy when your broken
So the reason he goes to his pillow fort is to be surrounded by darkness
“I miss my wife pomni. I miss her a lot.”
Zooble’s parts changing episode to episode is explained in this one too, them changing their parts over and over again cause they can’t find anything they like…about themselves
Extreme stress from losing your spouse can acceralate cognitive decline, so it makes sense as to why he is insane
i have always thought that kinger was the funniest character, but now i see him as possibly my favorite next to Ragatha.
If you look at the note book when zooble has a therapy session with Caine you can see they drew a dress on them when they throw it
Love these analysis videos
Kinger is Sadder, not Madder, of course.
He just like rorschach a sad broken man
Kinger has quickly become my favorite character.
I hear kinger singing alone at the edge of the universe
Hard to be called a "casual watcher" where their episodes come out sporadically 😀
I really like Zooble as a character the way glitch makes a topic like gender identity approachble and normalized is great(although I'm a cis male so idk) It is really interesting how the character avatars seem to reflect deep routed insecurities or flaws.
There’s also a tone shift for kinger
Mad Kinger speaks with a higher pitch
Sane Kinger speak with a much lower and methodical style
He hates the number 4
I don't agree that this is a message about masking, Kinger as no reason to want or need to hide his true self from others. this is a very direct message about people who struggle with memory loss and insanity, and shows that they are still people even if they're not always themselves or can't be "cured".
kinger was a gentle and caring person before he lost his mind, and he's still that person deep down, he just isn't connected to the same reality anymore. there was ways to ground him temporarily, but it's not something that the crew can fix. but even if he can't remember the important memories and acts crazy sometimes, he's still someone worthy of love.
I really loved how they handled kinger in this episode my respect for sure 👏 🙌
Surprised you didn't mention the "Seven years of computer science for this" comment, but I guess that just lead back to the pilot and whatever C & A is.
If you notice during certain scenes, including the tape player of the man narrating, it looks like a creepy face. There seemed to be a theme in this episode that has scenes with "easter eggs" of faces with "blank eyes", if that makes any sense.
That’s why he built the pillow fort because it’s dark inside
Simply put, lost in the light, found in the dark
i remember in episode 2, in the Kaufmo funeral scene, for a split moment Jax had a sad look before putting on a frustrated one. Foreshadowing? possibly yes. in which episode, no clue. also Caine glitching in the Zooble therapy thing
I want to know more about the soul that was in Pomni that stared at him and asked, "How's your wife Kinger!?"
This shit is what happens when you don't optimize your games lighting! It eats all the memory!
