Wildlife at a Sonoran desert water hole

- Here's a compilation of trail cam video from a small pond in my west side Tucson backyard. I have maintained it for over 30 years, so many generations of critters call it home. Me too.
June, 2017, was the hottest ever recorded here. Bit warm. OK, Cheese and Rice it's hot!!
But Sonoran Desert critters are well adapted, and there is an abundance mesquite and Palo verde beans, and saguaro fruit to eat this time of year.
Stay cool.
Thank you for doing this. The time for man made intervention in climate crises among wild animals is now. I just saw a news report of a small herd of giraffes that died in the terrible drought in Kenya with no access to water, of all things, and very little food. We can no longer look at our wild neighbors with our hands behind our bank. In the face of man made climate change - it is up to us to avert these disasters whenever necessary.
The deer is funny. "What is this thing? His ears are almost as big as mine."
jack rabbit
Mike DeBell hehe I think he wanted to make friends ❤️
@@LCbabyxO The mule deer was curious.
CA Catr they're friends ❤️
A mule deer afraid of a jack rabbit?
There are scarier things in the desert than rabbits, buddy.
Thanks for not putting music , it's perfect with only nature sounds , unfortunately most nature videos are posted with music ,which ruins them , and I have to mute all the time.
Oh yes for sure, no doubt about that!
I feel the same way.
Hearing the birdsong and insects is as wonderful as seeing the wildlife.
So kind of you to make water available for these thirsty creatures. I really enjoy these videos. 😍
I felt very peaceful while watching this. Thank you.
Me too! 😌👍
This is my goal to have such a beautiful back yard with the Sonoran wildlife always passing through.. and being able to film the wildlife would be amazing!! I always wanted to be a wild life rehabilitater. I play the film desert dreams constantly it never gets old for me. This was an amazing video!
Maybe you'd like my big Arizona playlist; it shows a lot of wildlife.
God bless u, it was very relaxing watching this.
great job helping wild life.
Love how the sweet coyote kept coming back to quench his/her thirst! Hope the young fella is still alive & kicking alive today.
It's so nice that you do this for these animals! Nice to watch!
You are a most kind soul!
Beautiful wildlife in a beautiful setting. T. Foster
Thanks.
Nice! Love this..all these animals seem so thirsty. Thanks for sharing
Thanks for maker of this place and you to share it here. Really nice to watch and enjoy a moment.

Blessings to you & ur family for setting up life giving Water to these Beautiful Creatures of God...✨✨✨
Soo many animal came to drink...thank you for helping them.
What beautiful place love those cactus
Did you guys see those pigs stepping in and then LAYING in the drinking water? Yea, that's why we don't share 😷. Great video though
LOVE THIS VIDEO N YOUR BACKYARD.
SO COOL
LMAO @ "Cheese and rice it's hot!" Clever. I loved that!
What a great place to be able to share with so many birds and animals!
That's a little slice of heaven you own there friend! Stay well!
Wow look at the diversity of your visitors !
So beautiful and relaxing. So nice to watch before going to sleep on a hot sunday. Best regards.
Interesting that with the exception of 1 bird, the pigs are the only animal that actually got into the water that they were drinking from
Not pigs, they are Peccaries, called Javelina, pronounced Hava leen' ah.
CA Catr you just love correcting everyone huh?
@@GioDude-mz8ve He is just trying to explain something. Chill out.
Beautiful. Thank you!
Even the Coyote was polite enough not to stick his feet in the water. Do for America!!
The peccary say nice to lay in, not just to drink.
Jajaja
You are blessed to live in such a beautiful place! Thank you for sharing. 💖🥰
To keep the water clean they should post a "No Swimming"
🏊 sign nearby.
wild pig will ignore that
animals won't get that ... you have to draw....smh
So you have a wild animal zoo right in your own backyard loved it
I love animals thank you so much for doing that 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤗🤗🤗
So cool! Love this. Thanks for helping out the animal friends ^__^
13:10 The birds say: "Rabbit! Rabbit!"
And the little piggy jus had to get in the water. 😂
LOL
Javalina. Distant relative of a pig.
Russell Langworthy Thanks for the clarity. I couldn’t think of it at the time.
@@russelllangworthy8855 No, it's a peccary not a pig.
@ A peccary is a Javelina. And I didn't say it was a pig. I said it's a distant relative of a pig. People look at them and think they're pigs, but they're not. I can't remember all the specifics, but I researched them back in the '90s when I bowhunted them in Texas.
The bunny is cool with everyone.
Thank you a wonderful video.
I wonder if you have a video of making this, or do you think it's as easy as making a small size pond out of cement molded right into a shaped out hole..I wonder how thick the cement is and how deep the pond is? I can't wait to make one in my yard. We just bought 5 acres in Arizona and one of my first desires is to make watering hole like this!
That quail was yelling "rabbit, rabbit rabbit". I guess so the chicks would know what it's called.
Bambi and Thumper?
What made you want to start doing this? Were you just being nice or were you seeing a lot of animals dying from lack of water?
In the desert, it's an obvious need, clear to anyone with a heart.
CA Catr “clear to anyone with a heart” holy shit you really are a pest
Good on ya - for creating this oasis for the animals
I feel like the pig right now. I just want to take a bath. 🤣 very relaxing to watch wild animals living the life without worries.
I Bet They All Might All Change Watering Holes If They Come Up On Big Pete (Peccary) Washing His Pork Rhines In That Water😂😂😂! 🤦😄✨👍
Big Pete !! that is hilarious perfect name for him!! lol
This video was/is very satisfying to watch. No guns and killing involved. Nice!
I was hoping for some zombies though!
I'm a retired ER doc. Can't stand make-believe violence. But I know better than to think I can change modern culture . I put my unsolicited advice to the world on the back window of my Tacoma: "Stay cool"
Geez that rabbit needs to pay up for drinking so much! Wascally Wabbit
Good video. I see a hose or pipe how is the water fill maintained
Water is Life.
nice to see this..
They all respect the waterhole
This is the new Coronavirus zoo. Stay safe and healthy!
Love living on the west side of Tucson as well! Did you pour the concrete for your pond yourself or have someone else set it up? Thinking of upgrading my watering hole...
The family of masons who were doing some flagstone and brick work for us did it.
It was free form, designed to be easy to sweep out.
I am surprised that all the animals didn't take a dip.
Watching from India.. you are doing a great job..
Cool beans 😊
Nice! Is that concrete that you formed? Is there a water line connected?
Researching for a similar odea.
3 or 4 layers of mortar mix with some rebar, hand shaped. Filled with a garden hose. Sloped sides to make cleaning with a push boom easy.
The whole time that coyote was drinking....I was expecting a Road Runner.....beep beep......................
desierto de sonora 🤘🌵🇲🇽🇺🇸🤠
What were the birds before the quail?
I love animals
That boar just ruined the water with its piss 7:12
Nice Zoo you have
Bob, great videos. Thanks for sharing. How far out of Tucson are you? I lived there a lot of years ago when I was in high school. Amazing that a Jack rabbit and a hawk would water at the same time. LOL
I live in a 1950's era house on the west side of town along a major wash running from the Tucson Mountains to the river. 20 minutes from downtown, 10 minutes to the freeway, and yet in a relatively undisturbed ecosystem. I love Tucson.
I lived way out on the east side close to Palo Verde high school. I was there when it was built. I joined the Navy in 63 and left. I live in Texas now but sure miss the desert. I love your videos.
At the beginning I thought I was going to see how a jackalope was made.
Amazing 👍
13:09 A rabbit is coming.
Birds: "rAbbit rabbit rabbit rabbit...rabbit rabbit...rab..rab...rab..."
ya need to put out a block of salt too - near the cactus
Can anyone tell me what species of cat that that?
Awesome,but those quail tho!
What are those little nutria-like thingies, wild hogs?
Not hogs. We call them javelina here, or collared peccary, and they are a native species. From Wikipedia: " Peccaries, which are native to the Americas, are often confused[3] with the pig family that originated in Afro-Eurasia, especially since some domestic pigs brought by European settlers have escaped over the years and now run wild as "razorback" hogs in many parts of the United States.[4]" en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peccary
I heard you say Javelinas in another video so now i know... I knew they were some kind of hog but I'd only see those enormous ones they catch int he south. We now have mountain lions in NH of all places!
The armadillo are coming too!
9:55 I think those were Northern Gos Hawks. .
Maybe Cooper Hawks? Harris Hawks? Those are common here.
Wish i live here
You can take that water put in bottles and sell it as "raw water" in SA, you'd make a fortune.
Falcons and pigs had to get in it - disrespectful to other animals who don't get their filth in it.
Muito top
5:42 what is dat?
Bobcat
The finer things in life
Bob Foster, It's nice that you put that watering pond out there. It certainly gets a lot of use. Nice yard too.
"Excuse me, there is a hare in my water" - Deer
Don't be deluded
Hare and Bear are dropping a deuce next to one another. The hare turns and asks Bear '' Do you have problems with shit sticking to your hair''? Bear grabs the hare and proceeds to wipe himself with the horrified hare. Then replies ''Not today''...
😀👍♥️
You should call a lynx to hunt the rabbit !
🐇👀 😄😄😄😄😄
This brought a great amount of peace to me in a very difficult time in my life. Thank you for sharing , enjoyed watching .
Awe. 🌹❤🌹❤
Maybe you'd enjoy my large Arizona playlist: it shows much beautiful scenery, terrain, wildlife, even Arizona's Mustangs. From the desert to the forests, from monsoon to the snow, from the Grand Canyon to the Mogollon Rim to the San Francisco Peaks north of Flagstaff, from drives to hikes and more, there's a lot to see. Real peace doesn't come this way, but seeing Nature helps a lot; nature is comforting. There's Elk, White-tailed Deer, Mule Deer, Pronghorn Antelope, Bighorn Sheep, Donkeys (Burros), Mexican Gray Wolves, Mustangs, Rabbits, Hares, Squirrels, Black Bear, hundreds of birds and water-fowl, birds of prey, bison ("buffalo"), Bobcats, Mountain Lions, Jaguar too, etc., mountains, canyons, lakes, streams and rivers, calming and soothing scenes in Nature, and sweet music in some of those videos, very soothing.
If you'd like to see and hear something soothing, I also compiled a much smaller playlist with nature videos (mostly of Arizona) that feature serene sights and sounds, I call it Gentility of Scene and Sound. They are the most soothing of my huge Arizona playlist, and one other video is part of it too, that I also feature in my Perspective playlist, a video called Wings to Paradise (of high flying birds, that make the things of Man look small, giving us a more distant perspective). You'd have to watch and hear that Gentility playlist to understand, it's like a hug for the heart. Praying for you, Eulalio.
Eulalio Tacuba that’s great!! I hope things are better now!!
Eulalio
Look for binaural meditation sounds.
Binaural sounds SYNCHRONIZE both sides of the brain 🧠
While a synced brain is supposed to be the rule... due to the overwhelming amount of visual and social ‘noise’ one side will usually shut down...
Binaural sounds then restore things.
- Most animals : lets drink the water.
- The wild pig : let's use it as a pool :-)
epSos.de a lot of animals specially furry ones, aren't able to control their inner temperature thru sweat so they cover their bodies in mud or take baths :)
Don't you people see the fucking point, drinking water someone else has sweated and shit in, very nice.
I know that boar was peeing in that water
@@VilaToro64 Should have made a little spring, or something that drip water from above or sideways.
@Robert salinas No, i'd rather take half a day out with the undertaker than drink me own piss.
That was one thirsty coyote....
zenwizard42
Didn't know when she/he a get any water again.
P
Thirsty work being a coyote.
I was thinking same..
yall know why that coyote was so thirsty...... hot work chasing road runners........ well it was funny when I thunk it.
Wonderful images of nature enjoying your pond. THANK YOU for your love for these creatures to fullfill their thirst. :-)
Bob Foster What a most selfless act of big hearted kindness you did here! If we could all be just a tad bit more like you, I think the world would be a better place. Thank you so much. I absolutely adore these videos. Very touching. God bless!😊😍😗
Thanks for helping all the critters!!
Quail are beautiful!
bob whites, most have been eaten or shot... I miss them and horned toads....
Yeah I really respect that, I live in Winnipeg which is considered cold to Canadians and when it gets to the end of winter around February when it goes to -50c(-58f) and all the bottoms of the trees and bushes are eaten I like to put out food for the rabbits and I leave a curled up insulated fresh air pipe for them to sleep in since it has to be better then the bushes. I also some times will leave a slab of ribs or meat hung on a tree branch for the wolves, coyotes, our resident lynx, and some times owls and foxes eat from there but I think the owls have an easy time hunting in the winter and the foxes and coyotes don't want to be eaten by the wolves so I see them less. I do the meat part more for me to watch them though since I most commonly see wolves when they are running on the highways and since coyotes are hard to spot and I have even seen one walking fast on my street literally from my front door and he didn't make a sound on the concrete and moved like a ninja, also lynxes are pretty sneaky to and I see them more on the security cameras or the window even since they have such good spacial awareness
49558201 no not bobwhites bobwhites are native to decidious forests places and oak savannahs
"Does this water taste like pork to you?"
Thank you mr foster These wildlife films are beautiful and very welcome to us here in the UK. I think you are a wonderful person.
Thank you very much.
I think he's a wonderful person too
Bob permitting me here > kate jane, you might also appreciate the other videos (this is one) in my Arizona playlist, terrain, vegetation, wildlife, Nature, including Mustangs, from the desert to the mountains of snowy northern Arizona, beauty abounds. So much wildlife, so much appreciation I have for Arizona and its serene scenes. :)
I hadn't thought any desert hares were left, really happy to to see them. What a poignantly beautiful and encouraging video, I'm so grateful to u for waterhole too.♡ what an enchanting scene.
The desert hares are called " Jack-Rabbits" even though they're not rabbits, but hares. There's lots of them. :) If you like Arizona wildlife, perhaps you'd like my Arizona playlist. It shows much wildlife, even Mustangs.
@human?, oh yeah, there's plenty of desert hares. I see them on some of the hiking trails in southern nevada.
Well the deer hadn't seen one befor either 😊
Be Happy It pisses 'em off they are literally everywhere, even in phoenix you can go to public parks and see them all day
Great video. That is a oasis.
Don't be deluded, oasis is much bigger!!
@@panamono9217 Really? Ffs eat shit asshat
You're such a blessing to these animals! You can see how grateful/happy some of them are for the water. Thank you for sharing this with us!
That Coyote was very thirsty, the poor guy.
Usman Shaukat just Tanking up on water....Food might be Scarce
Probably had to wash the taste of house cat out of his mouth.
This is fantastic ! Thank you for sharing . And thank you on behalf of wildlife , too .
Such a Beautiful video to watch. How animals should be. Wild and free
Wild and free, including Mustangs!
Never in my wildest dreams would I picture a hare and a hawk drinking water together. Amazing 💕
start watching at 13:03 and see a lizard jump off the rock and scare a gambels quail. pretty funny! Love your videos. you should make a bird feeder cam. I would love to see one of those
Your halicinating. There is no log and no lizard. Why dont you make a bird feeder cam yourself .
@@Capricosm 13:15 See the rock (not a log) and the lizard jumping off the rock, which startled the adult quail, making him jump. See the footage for yourself. > On the far side of the watering hole, this side of the barrel cactus. The rock is white, and that quail is heading towards the watering hole, when the lizard jumped in his direction.
Thanks for pointing out the lizard! He so cute and is certainly "King of the Rock!" For such a little guy -- Jumping off to charge the bird and immediately returns to HIS rock!! Great video!!!
@catchNrelease, I SAW THAT! It surprised me too, lol. I zeroed in on it for the rest of that segment.
catchNrelease sounds like the quail is saying rabbit rabbit rabbit etc.
I would spash down just like that hog!
A Peccary called a Javelina, it's not a hog. (Pronounced Hava leen' ah)

It's amazing how careful the animals are in their natural environment. Silent and discreet but really knowing what's going on around them.
They have to be to survive there is no rest for the weary outside of all of our front doors
I wanna come live with you! Get away from this corner apartment where I live in the downtown ghetto, traffic always so loud and polluting my air. I can't get away from it!! I can almost smell the fresh air, now. Just beautiful, so peaceful. Thank you again, hun. 🙏😍
