Trail Camera Setup and Pickup: Hidden Mountain Pool (Arizona Wildlife)
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 20 ноя 2024
- This pool was a nice surprise to find while hiking in the middle of our drought here in Arizona. It led to some of my best ever mountain lion trail camera footage and by far the coolest bear video I've gotten so far. This pool is mostly hidden by the grass and steep terrain around it, which is good for trying to get footage of wildlife. Drop a comment below if you enjoyed the video and tell me which Arizona wildlife you'd like to see more of. Thanks for watching.
Fun facts:
Waterholes are classic ambush sites for predators. Look how nervous the deer is at 08:55.
Skunks will stomp to warn other animals they're about to be sprayed if they don't back off. That's what the skunk is doing at 09:40.
Listen closely at 12:54. The younger mountain lion lets out a little purr.
Species shown: Mountain Lion, Turkey Vulture, Black Bear, Coues Deer, Hog-nosed Skunk, Ring-tailed Cat, Mexican Jay, Gray Fox, Blue Grosbeak, and some sort of bat (please tell me if you know the species).
Trail Camera used: Browning Recon Force Advantage - Животные
It is so peaceful and makes me think about how meaningful life is actually. Just being able to be alive and be conscious about it is such a gift.
Now you’re explaining why I always find myself returning to nature.
Remember these times.
@Chet Beej and you aren't?

The bear having a bath decompressing from a hard day is everything lol
💯
and then the deer of culture drinking it's bathwater 🤤
It was hot out there. No wonder they wanted to get in.

Yeah, well at 100°, I'd be getting in the water too!
Love how the mountain lion just walks up and starts drinking without looking around. It knows it has nothing to be afraid of.
Yeah top of the food chain.
Idk maybe that bear lol

That kitty was thirsty.
The appearance of the second cougar in frame was magical.
🙌
Yes it was.
I loved that mama bear, who leaned agaiant the edge of the pool and let out that long sigh... Tired mother.
🐻
Deer takes a drink and thinks “ damn this tastes like a bear’s ass “
Lol yeah I’ll take my filtered water over that
I was thinking the same thing, that deer was very hesitant from the scent of the bears!
115 degrees?! I’ll drink anything that won’t kill me.
@@RckyMtneer stop promoting yourself, lol
How does it know the taste of a bears ass tho 😳
I didn't think I'd be seeing a bear having a bath today, that really made my day. :-)
😀
And after that, at 8:52, you can see that poor deer having to deal with the smell of that bear. It can smell the bear all over the place, which is terrifying it, but it also needs to drink. It makes you realize just what a golden age humanity lives in. If you think about it, back before the U.S. was a country, if you went out into the wild, and went to a spring, or water hole, you too had to be aware of your surroundings...to make sure wolves, mountain lions, or bears didn't happen upon you. But now, getting water is so casual, we don't even think about it. The greatest golden age mankind has ever experienced, and all we can do is complain about everything. Animals have to constantly worry about being eaten, or killed by a rival. And we cry about them messing up our order at McD's.
I’m pretty sure it was to cool down the temp since it’s late June, it was so sweet tho
I'm gunna have one pretty soon if you're int... wait... nevermind,
@@leroyrussell8766 I love this comment. We do live in the best times possible.
to share this intimate moment with a wild bear is such a privilege
Indeed 🙏
I love how mama bear is like "I just need a spa day" but her kid keeps bugging her. He's so curious and intrigued by everything, since he's new to the world everything he sees is something brand new and exciting. I love nature and all of creation. Please keep these magnificent creatures of the wild safe.
i was thinking the same thing, please humans , stop destroying the habitats of these animals. they deserve to live freely and safely, as much as humans do.
Agree 💯 seeing our Encroachment is very hard to watch and witness...
That also accounts to pigs, cickens, sheep, goats, cows...
They deserve a happy free life.
Also the soutamerican rainforest is mostly destroyed by making space for them. So by going vegan we can safe the aggriculture animal and a lot of wildlife (also ones harmed by climate change) :)
Everyone going vegan would actually require more land mass dedicated to agriculture. To grow plants on an industrial scale, they clear massive amounts of ground and kill every living organism (every tree, every mouse, rabbit, etc) that used to be there. Then they make sure to keep away every animal that wants to eat that food being grown. It’s sad to see something die but killing and eating deer, elk, etc and leaving quality habitat ensures wild animal populations still exist more than the whole world going vegan would. Once land is put to the plow it’ll never be inhabited with the biodiversity it once had (that being said, many farmers do provide more habitat to wildlife than a new city in the same location would). Habitat is the key to the future of wildlife. I’ll never tell someone what they should eat. But there are no simple solutions in terms of “everyone should do this or that”.
Oh Sorry I might have written the same comment twice, I though I deleted it and write it again
The next time you consider taking a drink from a mountain pool, remember it’s also a bear bathhouse
Wise words.
Gotta figure a few smart ass bears use that time to let out a #1 or squeeze out a nasty bear #2 as well.....
🤣😆😂 Yeah I could skip that visual next time I drink from a “clear mountain stream”
If that is the only water around and I am thirsty I would drink it without hesitation, without water nobody can live.
and probably a few tapeworms
Seeing the bear in the pond cooling off and relaxing in the water was very enjoyable to me. And the one with the cub joining its mama in the pond was adorable.

@pixieplayz5039 yes ^
It was the only animal that seemed to notice the camera. Makes me wonder if skunks see infrared.

I love when humans judge the level of "smartness" animals have. It shows your lack of intelligence very clearly.
i don't know if it is "smart" so much as who is at eye level with the bright led light, as the shorter critters seemed to take most notice
That's quite a diversity of wildlife and shows how valuable water is to all the different species when it's scarce and how they're forced to share it

What really surprised me is that this spot may as well be called the community watering hole. The place plays an important role in sustaining the local wildlife. I wonder whether such spots can be man-made as a way to help wildlife, especially in very hot areas. Or would this be interfering with nature? Anyway, very interesting footage.
Yes in the Southwestern United States waterholes are created by different organizations to help wildlife.
We interfere with nature so much in a negative way I think it’s our duty to interfere in a positive way to have at least a balance

You used to have those animals there. Unfortunately hunted / killed to extinction in so many places around the world.

You’re welcome.
It rained last night.
Some of the mosquitoes still haven't given up!
We're ruining their homes and killing tens of billions of animals each year, in 2050 there will be more plastic in the ocean than fish
Droughts are purposely created. There is plenty of water underground that is not tapped into because it’s a control mechanism, for the scumbags who control the populations.
What drought? Lmao cali and the west coast have seen record rainfall
Just beautiful and tranquil. You certainly picked thr spot for diverse species. Can't wait to show the grandkids ❤

So cool to see the cougars! Mountain lions are misunderstood animals and are very likely a threatened species (it’s debatable since they are very hard animals to find, but we know that their numbers are dropping drastically). While some places still have large populations, most of their natural habitat has been abandoned. They face a lot of danger from humans and bigger predators. It’s so lovely to see some thriving in the wild! This was a perfect snapshot of all the local wild animals. I didn’t know there were bears in Arizona. And that ring tailed cat thing looked like something from the jungle lol.
Mountain lions are not endangered. They're so many that their actually spreading to the East who hasn't seen them for 100+ years. The only ones that were on the threatened list in the recent past was the Florida Panther and even their numbers are fairly healthy now.
@@ChantillyLane22 Yep, we’re seeing them in Missouri along with a lot of black bear. It’s a myth that bear and cougars are endangered.
Mountain lions currently inhabit more of the US then they ever have historically, ur being fed propaganda by so called “animal rights organizations” when damn near everything they want would be severely damaging to the natural environment. Not only do hunters play a huge role in population control, but they fund nearly every aspect of nature preservation and national parks in the states
All predators are actually making a big comeback in the states after being decimated in the 20th centry. The explosion of the deer population over the last 25 years, has made people realize the necessity of alpha predators. Unfortunately, in the north east USA, where they are needed most, big cats are still extinct for the most part.
I live in maine and the state will not acknowledge that mountain lions live here so that they don't have to take any measures to protect them. But there have been plenty of sightings and I myself believe I saw one driving home one night, it completely floored me. Just to say, yes they are moving East lol
Luv the sound of the big cat lapping up the water! These animals look so healthy! That’s a magical oasis you’ve found! Thanks!
