- In this video, I will show you how to make a grinding prism (V-block) by yourself. This is an extremely useful tool for any workshop.
The V-block allows for precise clamping and machining of cylindrical parts, which is essential for drilling, grinding, and milling. The process includes material preparation, marking and cutting the V-groove, and then carefully grinding the surfaces to ensure maximum accuracy and stability.
During the video, you will learn which materials are best suited for making a V-block and which machining methods will provide the best quality. I will also show you how to check the accuracy of the V-block and how to create a simple but effective clamping system to stabilize parts during work.
This is a great opportunity to improve your skills and add a professional-quality tool to your workshop, made entirely by yourself.
If you are interested in precision metalworking and want to create a solid V-block, stay tuned and enjoy the video!
If you want to hold bigger diameters you could either have a wider angle vee. Or have a flat instead of the slot at the bottom of the vee. The whole block can then be thinner but won't hold smaller diameters.
Hi, thank you for your comment. I was thinking about such an option as you describe and I will do so in the next v blocks (a pair of two little smaller). Regards, Tom
