After watching this episode, here we are having Pho. The soup is really out of this world, the real deal!
The trio in effect! Yay!

Felix & Amanda, you guys are doing an awesome job. I love the fact that you both came up with a creative "project" in the middle of the pandemic. Thanks for showcasing local businesses. When are you two (or three) going to cover Uncle Bo's? That's my absolute favorite on Oahu.
As always, food looked really ono. But special thanks to Felix, for mentioning that Tiny Pyramid was the same owners from Kaimuki. Went there around 20 years ago. My wife was so disappointed that it was closed. She got really excited when I showed your video to her. When we do get back, we will be stopping there. Man, you two keep adding to the list of places to go. Mahalo again!
Yes!! We’re so glad they opened up on Nimitz! Hope you guys can check it out next time you’re here! Mahalo for watching and supporting🤙🏻
great episode choice - love pho !!
Thank you for this one especially! Loved every segment! I used to play at Booth Park, as a kid.
Best episode yet :)
Hey I love this place too lol! I thought I was a pretty seasoned veteran when it comes to pho, but you have managed to show me something I’ve never known about. The beef oil with scallions on the side is ingenious. And although I don’t usually get beef on the side, splashing some lemon on the beef makes sense, adds flavor and the citric acid should help tenderize the meat. Awesome video, very informative!
We're glad even seasoned veterans could take away from our video! Mahalo for your support🤙🏼
Oh I’m going to Tiny Pyramid! Thanks for the recommendation!!
Aloha Judy! We hope you can try them out! Their desserts are amazing🤤 Mahalo for watching and supporting🤙🏻

Mahalo for watching and supporting🤙🏻
I used to go to JJ's Bistro in
Kaimuki just for their desserts & decided to have lunch too. I liked their chicken pot pie. Sadly they closed. Since then, they opened Tiny Pyramid & I love their chocolate lilikoi mousse.
Need to try the pho & char siu place the next time I'm in town. Thanks for the recommendations!
JJ bistros chocolate pyramid is so iconic in kaimuki! We’re so glad they reopened on Nimitz! Definitely try the pho and Chinese bbq!🤤mahalo for watching🤙🏻
Love this hole in the wall place, it's just the perfect eatery when your in the mood for Pho. Note: I'm no Pho or Vietnamese foodie expert, I've maybe dined at four maybe five places, I love this place. I'm trying to determine the kinds of flavors and variety to select from, I love the basil and parsley flavors, I'm still learning. As usual Mahalo's for your excellent informative post.
As long as you have a favorite pho place as a baseline to what you like, there's no right or wrong 😬 Mahalo for always supporting! 🤙
You guys are making me crave pho now, there’s some good pho spots in Hilo when you guys come: Lam’s Garden, New Saigon, and Hilo Rice Noodle 😋
I had no idea there were vietnamese places in hilo! Nice! Mahalo for the support!🤙🏼
@@AmandaFelixEats Yeah, ya never know until you live at a place for awhile. I’m actually from Kauai, now living on BI! Anyways, can’t wait for the the day you guys come here! Much love!
My favorite Pho place too😀🤙🏼❤️
Awesome! Love this place🤤 Mahalo for watching and supporting!🤙🏼
36:11 Thank you for risking your lives for our entertainment lol :0 Also good to see a legit pho place.
We do it for our Foodie fam! 😬 yes to legit pho 🤤
Learned new tips with the lemon on the raw beef…I’m gonna try that! ✊🏻 I usually order a side of tendons for me…just love the gelatinous texture👌🏼 Oh and btw I love when the restaurant provides mint for the cha gio…it’s a deal breaker for me haha✌🏻🤣
I appreciate you telling us how much each place cost. It helps me make y decision on where to go. Mahalo I really enjoy your show.
Mahalo for watching and supporting! 🤙
5:46 Lol
I love this place, went there last week. 💣
😅
13:05 lol.
Great video
Lol 😂 Mahalo for watching and supporting🤙🏻
Felix: loving the Seamaster!
Mahalo Steven! 🤙
Try Dem Mata’s Aloha Plate (Lau Lau and Smoked Pork) at the Aloha Swap Meet, unexpected top food we had while in Oahu
Aloha Amanda & Felix (and Yvonne). Would love to see a video/vlog on Felix's Mom making Vietnamese food. I've tried Vietnamese food a few times but never Pho (usually the cold spring rolls in rice paper but without the pork only shrimp). I've had a chicken broth w/noodles (no beef) but don't remember if that was considered pho since that's beef. That's pretty much my extent of Vietnamese food. Would like to try other things that aren't beef or pork, will definitely have to give it another try down the road. Mahalo for another great vlog, TGIF!
Hey Paula! 👋 if only Felix's mom wasn't so camera shy 😳 maybe one day haha. Some places make vegetarian or chicken pho too! Fun fact: original pho is mostly comprised of just vegetables! It was considered commoners food so they used left over beef bones for flavor and ate it with noodles and veges! And yes, TGIF! Have a good weekend Paula! 🤙
Didn't know Felix is Viet! So cool to see other Viet peeps in Hawaii.
Yes! Viet foodie crew!🤙🏼
Love Pho! I've got too many places on my list for my next trip 🙂
Love Pho Love Pho thanks gang for showing us a very good place and been to sandy’s yes very good duck must try the pyramid “MAHALO”
Next pho pho feast im coming 😊
Yay! Hope you enjoy🤤 Mahalo for watching and supporting!🤙🏼
That's da place, mahalo for taking me a long. YESSAH! Booth Park Action. I Stay hungry.
Mahalo for watching my braddah! 🤙
Yummy!!! I can’t wait for Felix’s mom’s Chà Giò recipe!!! Will she be making Nuoc Cham too? Oh yea! Hands down out of all the Asian “eggrolls” Vietnamese is the BEST!!!!
She usually makes nuoc cham in large batches and keeps it in the fridge! 🤙🏻mahalo for watching!
Wow…. Haven’t been to that pho place in such a long time! And had no idea you could get that rendered fat! Wow! Been hearing a lot about Sandy’s, but haven’t had a chance to go yet. The term you are looking for is the bark, the flavored, charred and carmelized section. Loved JJ’s when he was on Waialae. Was so happy that he was able to land a spot at the design center on Nimitz. Can’t ever go wrong with his desserts….
The chocolate pyramid is fantastic. Felix, thank you for supporting my company, Omega.
Omega gang! 🤙
Mouth watering Roast Duck! Geeeeezzzzz not fair!
Was Ono! 🤙
Bun Bo Hue is my favorite with a Bahn Mi Combo EXTRA Pate,Mayo,Cilantro, and FRESH Jalapeño’s…..Boom!!!!!!
One of my new favorite sandwiches is the Bánh mì!! And I found a place close here in San Diego that offers it with a small side of Phó broth (and all the add ins) just no meet or noodles
😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋
For anyone in San Diego, it's the Shank & Bône on 30th and University (NW corner ish) North Park I believe
Thats awesome! We love banh mis! Mahalo for watching and supporting!
🌺🌺🌺🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼🌺🌺🌺. Oooohhhh soooo Onooooo😋😋😋. Yes. Waze is a good navigator. 👍🏼
Oxtail Pgo is my favorite but I like rare steak also. I do love duck & roast pork ( which I learned to make in my air fryer roadr pork)
Sorry I do make Char sui sing Mikey Chen’ s recipe!
That sounds amazing! When we get an air fryer we're gonna have to try making it! Mahalo for the support!🤙🏼
I'm coming back for the duck!!!! September for my birthday!!! Its going down!!!!🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽
Gotta get that duck!
I thought that was you folks sitting at the table. I was going across the filed though n barely saw past the pool area lol
You saw us!! lol🤙🏼 Mahalo for watching and supporting!
Sweet, long vid!!
Enjoy the show! 🤙
Hi guys! A Chinatown tour would be awesome! I'm staying there in September
In the works!
@@AmandaFelixEats Sweeeeet! I can't wait to add more places from your beautiful Island to my map! (You should see all the flags) I don't want to be without good food 😆
My go to pho restaurant is Pho Tri on Kalakaua Ave they also make their own garlic chili sauce....ono! Parking in building too.
Hey you two
I truly appreciate your feedback after writing to you guys. That I feel will get pretty much harder as your show increases with upcoming fan. No Doubt you will be big. And I cannot be happier for your journey. I recently heard that your purchasing a house. I’d love for you to share with us your cooking skills with the specialties you have. No need go out all the time. Get comfortable at home so you can work at home too.
Love you
Colleen and Topper
(Again lol)
Mahalo Colleen and Topper! We definitely wanna show more home stuff once we've moved and settled in! Mahalo for the support!🤙🏼
I buy a scoop of rice to add to my left over soup eat it at home sooo Delicious!!!! Friendly, fAST SERVICE , CLEAN !!! Tiny Pyramid has such Pretty, ono, deserts!!! I go by Nimitz Hwy easier access !!! STAFF IS very friendly TOo !!!
Felix's Vietnamese sounds like his family is from the south. Dac Biet actually translates to "Special". As a person that has worked at a pho spot and have been behind the scenes of many most pho places outside of Asia just use the Lao Gan Ma crispy garlic chili oil because it is more cost effective than making your own so if this place does make their own then its certainly a special treat. On the mainland we use lime instead of lemon which I prefer more but pho like Felix said is certainly a dish that you should "season" to your own liking. There is no one right way or wrong way to have pho. Its to your preference. Side note: Pho To Chau is actually a bit of a popular name for pho restaurants they should still have nouc beo as a side option if Vietnamese ran.
Another side note: if any of those viet places there have banh xeo or bo la lot you should for sure do a review. Most people only think of pho for viet food but theres so much more. I also think a bo la lot pipikaula style would be super fire and would be a great hawaii/viet fusion. Hook it up with the culture! Great vids btw!
Yes! Felix’s mom is from the south! They use lime here too, it just depends on the day sometimes there’s lime sometimes there lemon😆 we love banh xeo but nothings been better than Vietnam so far😅 Felix likes the bo la lot but not me... we hope we can go back to Vietnam soon! Mahalo for watching and supporting🤙🏻
Thanks for letting me know this Pho's place. Will try when I come to your area. Look like you can speak little Viet's.
It is worth trying! 🤙
I love Booth Park. It's near my grandmother's house. It's very near to China town. You could have walked there.
Check out Hale Vietnam for pho and imperial rolls! Omg it might be your new fave pho place! 😀
It’s on 12th Avenue btw
Love me some Vietnamese food, but I'm not a PHO guy. I will eat it but I prefer that Charsui and Duck plate. That's my jam. I live in Wailuku Maui so Saigon Cafe and Bale's are just down the road. Bale's is one of my go to places. Mahalo and Aloha.
Can't go wrong with Chinese BBQ!
We like to eat at Pho Thinh in Moiliili, Pho Bistro 2 near the convention center or Saigon Noodle House in Kaneohe
That's awesome! We've been to some of those before! Mahalo for watching and supporting!
Yo dats was up showing love from da island Guam 🇬🇺 we need real pho here on Guam..
Haha was looking forward to hear Felix's Vietnamese. QUESTION: what is the pho like in Vietnam compared to Hawaii? I hear that Pho in Vietnam is actually not as savory as compared to the US taste buds.
Yes and no... for the most part pho in Vietnam is seen as a cheap food. However, modern times has changed that and they actually make awesome pho now! One of the best pho we've had in Vietnam was a restaurant off the side of a country side road. I'd say the pho here in Hawaii tastes more beefy, but the ones in Vietnam are more fragrant! 🤙
@@AmandaFelixEats
I agree !
I read somewhere that there are basically 3 styles of pho in Vietnam. There's Southern, Northern and Central styles.
Have you guys been to Wolfgang steakhouse? If so what do you recommend eating there? If not, what steakhouse do you guys prefer?
To chau best pho soup ever.
This place looks comparable, love iced coffee.
To Chau is good too! 🤙
Look foward to your videos. Great info on the Pho. I like the five spice taste on char siu & roast pork, if there is not enough of five spice, it's not savory to me. Are you folks at Booth Park in Pauoa?
Yes! We filmed the 2nd half at booth! 🤙
Oops i rewatched, sorry Felix said you were at Booth Park i missedcit bcuz i was laughing about him going blank was wondering if monkeypod came down. You folks are monkeypod magnets 🤣🤣
I spy my aunty's hale in the background haha
Any recommendation for Bun Bo Hue ( spicy beef noodle)?
My go to place is Golden Duck for the roast duck charsiu over chow fun
On king st.?
@@AmandaFelixEats yes! Across Zippy's
Pho Bistro in Waipahu is my favorite
Pho is my comfort food but if the weather is too hot then i go for the Vermicelli
Same! 🤤
That looks really good !! where do you park when you go to Chinatown ?
If you're going to culture plaza they have validated parking garage!
There is a city municipal parking lot on maunakea between no king and south Beretania (directly across Sing cheong bakery and goods) that you will drive in and go lower than street level.. there's 3 levels .. no elevator though.. walk up stairway to maunakea at street level. HPD parks some of their vehicles on part of second level down, just watch for signage as to where not to park. Lowest level parking stalls appear the widest so if you have bigger vehicle that's where I'd park. Pay manned booth person upon leaving.
Another municipal parking lot is on So Beretania at Hale Pauahi between Maunakea and River St, and another city municipal pkg lot is on south Beretania st between Nuuanu Ave and Smith St. at just after the large church building.(still New Life Church?) and before the mini park/Smith St.
The restaurant is Phở Huong Lan on Maunakea, dunno it. Felix must be Viet descent, figures. “Em đệp lắm”, Amanda. I learnt for eat Pho from my VC friends, Khuyen n Ba. When we go beach at Ala Moana, they bbq up da best lemon grass beef. There’s a dish at Cultural Plaza, u recommended when u were flipping the menu, I thot I saw a picture, something called called Bot Chien which is a fried daikon cake which is to die for. That dish comes from Teochew Viet’s originally from Shantou PRC. We are leaving for Cali on Monday n we’ll hv our fill of pho, bo luc lac (shaking beef), also to die for n bot Chien. These are also better than orgasmic heavens.
And my go to places for Char siu is Char Siu House on Maunakea St and Roast Duck Kitchen is Aiea. Both of these places run out fast.
You can tell Felix knows what he is talking about. "Pho Master!!" lol I didn't know about that fatty broth until now. And Man!!!!! you guys are gettin' recognized everywhere you go! #famous.
and damn Felix... ubiquitous!!!! I haven't heard that word in like ages. #flexin' lol
Mahalo for the aloha and support!🤙🏼 Hope you get to try the fatty broth next time!
Should have gotton the Roast Pork (Sieu Yuk)
