A SINISTER TURN!!! | X MEN 97 1X3 (REACTION)

This was the best episode yet for me because of the amount of twist and turns that it had in it and the introduction to the new villain was done in a great way. It has opened up a lot of new story lines that can be explored in the future so I'm looking forward to it.

If we're talking bout the cartoon from the comics it took place in the X-men story arc called Beyond good and evil in which apocalypse worked with Mister Sinister and Magneto to kidnap psychics. They took them to a place called the axis of time. There Sinister could clone jean and speed up the process and switched them.

Jean (original) stayed in the team while the clone (Madeline prior) went to other place

It was more obviously in the comics, which one was which. In the comics, Jean died at the Moon at the end of the (dark) Phoenix saga. Scott left the X-Men after that and met Madelyne Pryor, but she had no memory of Jean, Scott and the X-Men. But Scott fell in love with her and married her and she gave birth to Nathan. Than the Avengers and the Fantastic Four found the real Jean and Scott left Madelyne. For a time, Madelyne stayed with the X-Men, but went mad after she learned the truth from Mr. Sinister and unleashed hell on Earth. In the comics, the name Goblyn Queen makes more sense, because she controlled demons and freed them from hell and they invaded New York City.
So this were about 100 issues, which they shortened here to an 30 Minutes episode.
