  • I had an opportunity to fly but could see that the wind gusts were pretty strong. Since it was a familiar area, I went ahead, knowing I could track it down if there was a crash...
It turned out to be 33mph wind gusts but the Avata is rated at up to 24mph. The trouble with flying around trees in these conditions is that the tree branches move while the drone struggles to hold steady.
After a couple of close calls, the last gust turned me toward a tree.
Before the crash, I captured some beautiful shots of a lovely glade with the sun glinting as it peeked through the trees. There's a good example of a vertical climb in this video as well, all with the Motion Controller.

I spy a deer laying in the grasses, to the right, at the 0:45 mark. (Can see it before as you enter that clearing)

That’s cool. I didn’t notice that. I suppose it could be a deer having a lie down. On another of my videos, a pigeon sat at the peak of a roof unconcerned as I flew the Avata past.
