I am Israeli and the first time I heard Assaf Avidan was when I was traveling in Germany a decade ago and I heard his voice coming from the radio and I thought it was a woman. Until between the words in German I heard Asaf Avidan and I was simply filled with pride💙🇮🇱
A genius musician!! It's incredible how Asaf recorded all these layers LIVE throughout the song! He's the MASTER of looping, having embarked on his journey with the looper long before anyone even grasped its concept..!! "In a box series" (II/III) -" In a box", is recorded live. Live means no editing, no re-recording, no auto-tuning... All songs written, composed and produced by Asaf Avidan. He's a wildly talented artist with a mesmerizing voice, exceptional musicality, and originality-the complete package! ❤️🔥 He's a highly successful and well-known artist, primarily in European countries where his career has been established for almost 20 years. He is less recognized in the US-their loss! 🤷♀️ There is no musician like him in the entire world, that's for sure!
Just found Asaf the other day and can't get enough of his music! Such good songwriting and performance. Glad to see you reacted to him as well, Anthony. Very nice reaction! 🔥🔥🔥
He is like no-one else - he's Asaf, totally unique! A brilliant musician (range of instruments), composer, poet, producer, performer! His sets are always amazing (location, lighting, sound, camera angles - he's a perfectionist). He studied and worked in the Graphic Arts field in Israel originally and only started composing/playing music at age 26, I understand.
Asaf is a musical genius who's here for more than 15 years, he's very well known in Europe, especially in France, and yet he 'needs' a reference from Ren to be recognized... I don't understand this world anymore )) Also, I can predict that you won't get much views for this reaction (it's always so, I've seen some brave channels with many subscribers doing reactions to Asaf but it's if those videos become invisible, they rarely get more than 1000 views). I don't think Asaf is 'underrated', it's just his audience is mostly based in Israel and Europe where the notion of success is a bit different, not so commercial.
Ohhhh wow I’m so so happy you did this!!! I lovreee Asaf! I listen to him everyday now since I heard him first time like a month ago! His lyrics are thought provoking and his voice is mesmerizing ❤
Asaf - The Labyrinth Song from in a box 11 or Lost Hourse live au Perchoir Paris are both fantastic performances also!!! He’s a gem and like Ren is so versatile with instrumentation, vocals , lyrics and is a true performer that grabs your full attention. Also, great locations throughout his videos❤
Well, can't believe I loved this. I'm a hard rock person, but this had something that draws you in and holds you there. I agree with you, that it sounds like something familiar, but who? KALEO- Way Down We Go, maybe?
Found this artist when Ren recommended him, and ended up spending about three hours listening to as much of his music as I could find, he sometimes has a sound of Macy Gray in his vocals, and some of his music has a definite soulful female sound to them and I LOVE him!
The In a box series reminds me of LP in some ways, but in the song My tunnels are long and dark these days, w/o watching the video, I thought it’s Kovacs who sang it No matter if it’s LP/Kovacs, it’s always a soulful/powerful female vocalist that he seems to remind me of😅
Asaf is a multi-instrumentalist and his vocal control is out of this world And I don’t know if you’ve ever listened to LP but he reminds me of LP a lottttt, still, in the song My tunnels are long and dark these days he makes me think it would be Kovacs who sings it. It’s weird but w/o watching he always reminds me of some powerful female vocalist that I like a lot
Asaf had a radio hit in Europe in 2012 with “One day/Reckoning Song”(Wankelmut Remix). His vocals reminds me of the singer of “The Tiger Lillies”. Very talented this guy ❤
It's nice to know the new generations appreciate music. LOL Her Lies and Labyrinth Song for a good idea of his range. He was looping before most of the world heard of it.
He reminds you of LP. You probably heard her song "Lost on you". Asaf sounds very similar to her. Also, he has some MAD insane singing skills that he shows off in some of his other songs where he sounds like Janis Joplin. You should hear him sing his song "Her lies". I was SHOCKED when I first heard it.
This is off the scale immersive and intriguing. Multi talented. For sure. I thought Etta James meets modern tech and imaginings. Very bluesy and soulful, retro but futuristic.
I was blown away by this when I first reacted to it. The genius and creativity and the ability to do all that live is amazing. No wonder Ren recommended him they are similarly gifted.
Yes!!! I'm soo glad you reacted to Asaf. Hopefully more will follow. Don't forget to do Rock of Lazarus, also a great great performance but without the loops. Really enjoyed your reaction, and yes Asaf really deserves more attention ❤
So happy to see this and how much you like it, I have been a fan of Asaf for years and he is truly amazing ❤ Unique and one of a kind.. A genius that stand out from the rest, just like Ren ❤ A cool thing is that Asaf began making music first when he was 26! He went through a major breakup and was heartbroken and in that process he began playing guitar and writing lyrics bc that was the only thing that could help him deal with the pain..
It’s worth doing a dive into this incredible artist … his work speaks of his genius Enjoy going down the hole … it’s worth it Fr across the waters 🐥🇨🇦🐥 Hugs everyone❤
im so happy someone requested this for you. i re-found him through Ren, and just got me tickets for one of his live shows in november in germany. so excited.
I think the name your where looking for is Janis Joplin. Really close voices. I've seen him 2 times on stage and he's even more incredible than in the video. Instant goosebumps.
Asaf is one of my favorite artists, I especially love his "In a Box" recordings (I guess the less production the more authentic it always feels to me). His voice is often compared to Janis Joplin's, perhaps it was her who you were thinking of?
No - It's LP, (real name Laura Pergolizzi). you might -or, at least I, am thinking of as kind of similar. Have you heard her- them... "Lost On You" {# Why did REN Reccomend - the hair cut! Or, another Unique and Amazingly Creative Independant Artist. Maybe both ) 😆
@@AnthonyRay Definitely recommend-worthy! Piece of my Heart is a classic that's worth checking out. You'll have probably heart it, nevertheless she made great music.

May I ask if you live in America? I do and it seems to be the only country who has not caught on to Asaf Avidan's musical brilliance.🫤
Asaf sounds like Asaf❤ There's no other voice like his!

I started listening to this dude several years ago and could never figure out why he's not more popular.

There's a "I put a spell on you" beat in there too at the beginning. Fabulous.
Asaf is amazing. Have tickets to a concert with him november 18. Can hardly wait 🤩
Anthony you must hear The Labyrinth song. One great poem by Asaf
Asaf had a radio hit in Europe in 2012 with “One day/Reckoning Song”(Wankelmut Remix).
His vocals reminds me of the singer of “The Tiger Lillies”. Very talented this guy ❤
sry for being late, Asaf never agreed on this and he didn't get a dime. It didn't give him a lot of attention aswell. Wankelmut just ripped it 😕
please react also to "in a box II"
I’ve been trying to get clown and eshplume to do some of Asaf!!
I think they would dig this 😊
Love your reaction. Asaf Avidan is so unique. I enjoy seeing people seeing it for the first time. Try "in a box 2" for Asaf's Guitar skill and more.

You are remembering Tom Waits when you hear Asaf. The orchestration also similar to Tom Waits's style.
Just found him recently too, thanks to Ren. Asaf is such a great Artist, and powerful voice.
This is off the scale immersive and intriguing. Multi talented. For sure. I thought Etta James meets modern tech and imaginings. Very bluesy and soulful, retro but futuristic.
His voice cuts like a knife, in the best possible way! Thanks AR ❤️🔥✌🏻🫶🏻
Late to the party, but he's indeed a very very talented, if somewhat niche, artist. Also mindblowing live, especially if he's without his band.
asaf avidan in the box ii "Her Lies" this one!!!
I was blown away by this when I first reacted to it. The genius and creativity and the ability to do all that live is amazing. No wonder Ren recommended him they are similarly gifted.

She has done some busking with ren..
They could be vocal twins ❤❤❤
Asaf is one of my favorite artists, I especially love his "In a Box" recordings (I guess the less production the more authentic it always feels to me). His voice is often compared to Janis Joplin's, perhaps it was her who you were thinking of?
I believe he's her reincarnation
I've been saying it for years if you play them back to back it's uncanny
No - It's LP, (real name Laura Pergolizzi). you might -or, at least I, am thinking of as kind of similar. Have you heard her- them... "Lost On You"
{# Why did REN Reccomend - the hair cut! Or, another Unique and Amazingly Creative Independant Artist. Maybe both ) 😆
He sounds like Tina Turner!
Reminds me of Janis Joplin but upgraded.
Pure talent
Just wow

The voice is very reminiscent of Janis Lyn Joplin
The tip of your tongue artist you were thinking of was Janis Joplin!
It wasn’t
@@AnthonyRay ah well, I tried!
Good try though, might have to check Janis Joplin out
@@AnthonyRay Definitely recommend-worthy! Piece of my Heart is a classic that's worth checking out. You'll have probably heart it, nevertheless she made great music.
