Which is funny, because it's so much easier to play without a pick. Picking that riff takes 100x more coordination between both hands. Without a pick is just hammer ons and pull offs.

This man is a god damn champion. Barefoot, reclined on the lazy boy, lookin' well fed and relaxed, casually nailing Thunderstruck, teaching his youngins that he was indeed the coolest kid on the block in his day
As he is chillin in his recliner casually playing something even the maker had trouble with perfectly is just amazing
The fact that he does it so effortlessly is a testament to his sheer skill.
Two things. First is that he fucks it up at the end of the clip so he couldn't even keep it up for 15 seconds despite the fact that this lick plays through pretty much the entire song. And the second thing is that this lick is WAY easier to play than it sounds.

@@aidan6471 the actual song isn’t hammer ons at all, not all of it at least. I’ve tried and to play this song is mastery. They originally picked the entire thing but sometimes used hammer ons at concerts. I believe they also had only one string for the lead part so it was impossible to mess that up, that one string guitar was used only for this song! And no after thousands of hours playing I still can’t play it properly lol

It's obvjectively an easier song to play, all you have to do is legit do a bit of research. This clip was one of the first clips I watched a long time a go. It's been 1 year since ive started playing guitar, and the thunderstruck intro is one of the *easiest* pieces to play. Its like lvl 0.5. I enjoy playing it with my left hand only, and that would be like lvl 1.5. Thunderstruck played by Luca Stricagnoli version is the hardest.
This is pure talent, no doubt about it.

My dad isn't a musician but sometimes I'm impressed by his knowledge of music that I had assumed he has no idea about. People forget dad's and mom's were once young too and they lived their lives just like we are now.
Fr my dad was a seemingly boring accountant but he can basically name any song recorded between 1960-1985
Yes for sure, it takes a minute to acquire knowledge and it can take longer for something like music to reach full blossom in talent. I've had this notion that more and more our society is ready to toss aside people claiming their old and not of note. They've joked about in movies and shows about 30 being old, but life has definitely imitated art on that account...if we can call that art.
Being brash and c*cksure is great unless you need something more to achieve what it is you see and dream in your head.

It takes decent picking speed and stamina.. basically tremolo picking.. the hammer-on/pull-offs have to stay clean, the Riff moves to positions other than the 2 you see in this video, and it DOES NOT STOP throughout the ENTIRE 4:52 seconds of the song. It's even more difficult to do with no pick.. as you see in this clip. Malcolm Young played it without picking when performing live.
