I’m loving this trend of roping the voice actors into playing the games theyre in, between this and things like Detroit: Become Human and Baldurs Gate III, this makes for a whole lot of neat content and game dev production stories
Bryan and Amelia Dechart (Connor and one of the female Traci bots) are literally the coolest couple ever, my very first twitch sub and I’ll never forget the playthrough they did of Detroit become human and to this day they still stream
i always liked matt mercer playing overwatch and doing mccree's voiceline for his ultimate in voice chat and everyone is like "oh fuck where is it-- wait nobody is even playing mccree"
My favorite part of your coaching style in this video is that you never go on about what's right or wrong. You only riff off of what Faye notices herself or what questions she asks. There's obviously a lot that could be commented on, but the most important thing is that the coachee is interested and having fun, and overwhelming them with a million things they're doing wrong or things they could be doing right is counter-productive to that.
In my experience that's the best way for most people to learn. Trying to focus on too many things just isn't practical for most people, the absolute maximum is prolly 3-4 things: for a fighting game example it'd be like anti-air, fastest poke, on hit vs on block confirm, maybe a stance if it's important for the character. And then developing that into a flowchart to start rotating options and adding more when you're comfortable.
I don't coach, but I do regular teach barista skills to complete beginners at work as a Head Barista. I can confirm that the best way to teach is to let people teach themselves and act as an assisting role. Asking what people WANT to work on is always a great first step, because even if it isn't the most crucial thing they need to work on right now, helping them overcome something that they're struggling with builds a ton of confidence that they can identify and solve problems. What I really like about Sajam's style is he turns what people see as their failures into strengths, which is a very natural way to learn. When Faye admits she has a bad habit of mashing DI and wants to figure out more sensible ways out of dangerous situations, he immediately affirms that just understanding that is incredibly good, and instead of focusing on what she's doing wrong (mashing DI) he instead focuses on redirecting her panic somewhere safer: EX Slide.
I have to agree, The coaching shown in this video was great. He gave them simple tools that they pointed out themselves, to improve upon and then given the fact that they already knew their weaknesses they adapted.
this was my experience in smash bros melee. i overwhelmed myself with how much of the game i was trying to take in and didn’t consider if i was building my fundamentals as strong as possible before moving on. eventually i limited myself to 1 new concept to focus on per play session and it helped me overcome that plateau so quick.
I can't even keep track of how many of us are only alive because Sajam rescued us from certain death in a fire, and Faye hopefully knows that he lets literally anyone borrow the Bugatti if they need it. He's so busy saving stray dogs and shutting down puppy mills he doesn't even need it.
Great video! I would like to take this opportunity to thanks Sajam for coaching me into applying into top universities and reaching grandmaster at Street Fighter II as a young child 25 years ago.
Low key I'm like so rooting for them to be the Jay Z and Beyonce of the FGC, and from the sounds of it, they're on their way. We all out here rooting for it, mostly because Sajam recued us from that fire back in the day.
Sajam showed up right after to help me move, and I was like "damn dude aren't you existed from fixing that guy's Mom's roof, and he was like "what are friends for?"
Just to make sure she knows that you rescued me and my sister when were 4 from a burning orphanage, and ran in despite the fire being huge. This is awesome.
Imagine a world where the best Aki is the actual voice actress lmao. They should have a tournament with all the voice actors, it would be so fun to watch.
i'm always glad to let you borrow my jeans sajam, but please make sure to tighten the crotch section back up before you return it to me. it's supposed to be slim fit, not sagging
Genuinely had a smile on my face the whole video. To see her learn and apply things as she kept playing was so fun. She did a seriously good job. Also the fact she's a VA brings so much emotion to when she actually gets excited.
Watching this reminds me that it's way more fun playing when you don't think about winning and mainly focus on improving your playstyle. I feel like we sometimes forget that and just get grumpy when we don't win.
This auto-played for me and I was chilling to the good vibes but I didn't expect to know one of the characters she VA'd. Petra from FE 3 Houses! That is so cool. "I will get the victory!"
I mean this in the nicest way possible, but her michael jackson-esque "heehees" are hilarious. We've come a long way with coaching, from the gootecks days lol. On the note of her "E" it just reminds me of Fauna. Good vibes, good energy, good video.
Hey Sajam, reaching out through here since you seem to be busy helping at the homeless shelter to read the DM I sent you: Thank you loaning me those $12000 for the downpayment of my new rent. I'd be right there in the shelter if it wasn't for you. I understand that a measly $12000 is a drop in the ocean to you, but it saved me. I swear I'll pay you back someday. Keep being the awesome, tall, bugatti-owning philanthropist you are.
Her getting excited about pulling off things is so enjoyable. I'd love to see maybe roping Aleks and/or other of the voice actors into this. Also she's got Jeremy and James on deck just like me. It really is the same game.
Thanks Faye, for using Talk no Jutsu to send the meteor away from the orphanage, before hopping in your Lamborghini to save lil' Timmy who was stuck in a tree.
I'm sitting in the parking lot of a grocery store and I legitimately Luke fist pumped when Faye clutched out the win against that Kimberly. Man I love the FGC 😂
"well, you know what they say: if you can't fix em, join em" 🤪
ty for the fun and chill learning environment sajam & chat
Omg it's Faye.
That was very entertaining!
I had no idea you were in Rivals, thats exciting!
You were gaming! Very fun stream to watch live.
You did so well!
Now that she's been trained by Sajam when she inevitably gets onto Alek's channel for the stream and video she's going to roast him alive in-game.
Beast mode baby!
Every VA has been taking 10 gas stations dick pills but none of them realise A.K.I. is the supplier.
BOOM, DIVORCED!
Sajam's face/reaction to the Lulu laugh right before the jump cut was hilarious
I was legit about to say this, that shit was great XD
6:57 I'm gonna timestamp the exact moment for anyone else's reference.
In that moment, he knew the coaching was gonna get purple
"Alright, let's call it here"
A single frame of pure horror as images of her Q hitting the AD Carry fly through his head...
25:05 "Is that a death?" She is not ready for will it kill.
I’m loving this trend of roping the voice actors into playing the games theyre in, between this and things like Detroit: Become Human and Baldurs Gate III, this makes for a whole lot of neat content and game dev production stories
Yeah it's pretty cool. Aleks Lee as well with Luke and now the protag on Persona 3 Remake, he makes meme edits on his yt
Several of the Xenoblade Chronicles actors have also played the games.
Gianni making memes about games he voices in is so funny. I'm thinking of Gabriel in Ultrakill whom he voices.
Yo sajam, thanks again for lending me your golden lambo for the weekend

I agree, great way to coach a beginner there.

Gotta say, Parfaye is a top tier name. Damn, she's good.
22:50 her A.K.I came out perfectly right here
Thanks for saving my grandma from her burning house last week. Faye’s truly a lucky woman.
I can't even keep track of how many of us are only alive because Sajam rescued us from certain death in a fire, and Faye hopefully knows that he lets literally anyone borrow the Bugatti if they need it. He's so busy saving stray dogs and shutting down puppy mills he doesn't even need it.
I've seen some of Faye streaming, but this is easily the most excited/unhinged I've heard her. Very fitting for the role lol
The Rizzjam effect
She does have some gremlin energy, doesn't she? :D
Hilariously, the first time I heard Faye (knowing it was Faye) was in Alpharad's Among Us videos
And she is incredibly unhinged in those, oh my lord
The energy she has for this game is amazing. I love it so much
Same the fact she showed a real interest in Fighters(outside of her VA role on them) was so fun to hear and watch. Great job to Sajam and her!
Dang man, just wanted to drop a thanks for helping me plant all those trees for homeless dogs. You the real g.
Yeah it's important that she knows about all the dogs and orphans he saved, he's a hero.
Bro, Sajam literally saved me from a burning building when I was a kid. What a hero.
I love her super aggressive “HUH!?!” whenever something unexpected happens lol
Man she is such a pleasant person. Or maybe it's the balance between Sajam's mono tone and Faye's energy but it's so fun to watch this!
I love how absolutely feral she is when she's really into the match, super fun to see VA's enjoying the game
I love listening to VA's talk. They're always so articulate even out of character.
HOLY SHIT SAJAM COACHED WRESTLING??? that's fucking sick.
Thanks for taking the time to rescue an entire Bugatti orphanage from a burning grandma, you're a legend
😂
Great video! I would like to take this opportunity to thanks Sajam for coaching me into applying into top universities and reaching grandmaster at Street Fighter II as a young child 25 years ago.
Watched this from Faye's perspective - great stream. Hope to see more stuff like this in the future.
love Faye Mata's energy
Low key I'm like so rooting for them to be the Jay Z and Beyonce of the FGC, and from the sounds of it, they're on their way. We all out here rooting for it, mostly because Sajam recued us from that fire back in the day.
@@actuallynotsteve wtf are you talking about
26:16 Te hee hee
perfect modding material
I absolutely LOVE seeing new players getting it. That stuff nourishes me SOUL, man.
22:50 The rapid escalation into maniacal laughter is pure A.K.I. 🤣
Yo Sajam, thanks for helping my mom repair her roof last weekend. I owe you, bro!
Sajam showed up right after to help me move, and I was like "damn dude aren't you existed from fixing that guy's Mom's roof, and he was like "what are friends for?"
This stream was 90% interview and 10% coaching and it was awesome. She's really really good for how little she's played.
The promised stream given to
us by Twitter rizz
Just to make sure she knows that you rescued me and my sister when were 4 from a burning orphanage, and ran in despite the fire being huge.
This is awesome.
Fire... you look huge!
This is amazing! Love how much community this game series has!
Next we need Faye to coach Sajam through a voiceover gig.
obviously she needs to pull some strings to get Sajam a voice acting gig as "Random Mad Gear Goon #43" for one line.
For when Sajam commentary gets added to SFVI
@@ezraho8449 😲
Imagine a world where the best Aki is the actual voice actress lmao. They should have a tournament with all the voice actors, it would be so fun to watch.
This was so wholesome I almost vomited. Great content.
Also, thanks again Sajam for taking my grandma grocery shopping this weekend.
must be the poison working through your system
i'm always glad to let you borrow my jeans sajam, but please make sure to tighten the crotch section back up before you return it to me. it's supposed to be slim fit, not sagging
So great to hear some one have this much fun !! Also the voices, Faye’s very talented and a part of why Im enjoying AKI 🙌
Look how much fun she's having! That's so satisfying to watch!
Sajam casually dying at 23:00 while Faye is casually air-to-airing this person is exactly what I needed today
Can we get Edmond Honda's VA next? he's actually a great guy
Only if he says a few "Dosukois" as he rockets around the screen. XD
Not Harvey Headbutt😂
"What letter is that?! There is no letter for that." totally sent me. Great video - great concept. This rules.
LMAO I love how Faye’s panic voice is just Aqua 😂
I met Faye Mata at a con like a week before this stream happened. She was super lovely and apparently was super good at Pokken too
the different variants of sajam are like shoto clones
Genuinely had a smile on my face the whole video. To see her learn and apply things as she kept playing was so fun. She did a seriously good job.
Also the fact she's a VA brings so much emotion to when she actually gets excited.
sajam nodding like a proud father everytime that faye wins is so wholesome
Her pure joy at realising concepts and adapting with Sajams's coaching is so infectious ❤️👊
Watching this reminds me that it's way more fun playing when you don't think about winning and mainly focus on improving your playstyle. I feel like we sometimes forget that and just get grumpy when we don't win.
look at samjohn trying to fix her
If this is lore accurate Sajam is FANG
22:50 DAMN ahahah i love it when ppl say their read aloud and are correct. She def knows some stuff!
Her enthusiasm is just magical. Love seeing how amazing some of the VAs are as people for this game's cast
32:07 A.K.I came out at that moment
So much fun watching Faye play ranked! It's so fun watching someone improve and learn the ropes
The promised day is upon us
I love this idea of you teaching Faye to play AKI. This is great :)
This was a lot of fun to watch. She has the perfect mentality to play fighting games - took me years to get there 😅
Appreciate Sajam for spending so much of this video just hyping Faye up
This auto-played for me and I was chilling to the good vibes but I didn't expect to know one of the characters she VA'd. Petra from FE 3 Houses! That is so cool. "I will get the victory!"
Love the insight into her work on the character.
That happiness and excitement is so refreshing.
I want a mod that replaces all of AKI's voice lines with Faye screaming EEEEEEEEE
Yo! This is hype! Lets go Sajam!
I mean this in the nicest way possible, but her michael jackson-esque "heehees" are hilarious. We've come a long way with coaching, from the gootecks days lol. On the note of her "E" it just reminds me of Fauna. Good vibes, good energy, good video.
Imagining Aki with Faye's normal/excited speaking voice from this video is hilarious.
We should all strive to be like Faye. Love her voice work, super cool to see you two working together!
When she laughed maniacally beating up that baby Ryu I could hear the A.K.I. In her
Baron Samjam is smooth as hell. XD
This was such a fun Silly Colab LOL
Thanks for thie Sajam!
and thanks for Faye for showing up!
Watching people discover things in fighting games feels nearly as cool as when you're discovering things yourself!
Faye getting hyped was contagious, because I was popping off too! Especially when she landed the Lvl 3
Hey Jam man, just wanted to say thanks for that emergency caesarean saving my wife and newborn sons life, you a real one.
I LOST MY MIND 24:45 she picked that up after learning about it two games before. that’s something i had to lab for weeks!
Absolutely loved it, especially your approach to coaching
Hey Sajam, reaching out through here since you seem to be busy helping at the homeless shelter to read the DM I sent you:

This stream was gold btw. I didn't get to catch it live but I did watch the VOD and it was hilarious.
She did Petra! Must have been fun voicing a character who speaks in broken English 😂
Hey Sajam. Thanks again for saving my community from those bandits. They way you used your kung fu to defend us took a lot of bravery.
"Oh, it didn't reach! Bitching..."
This is wholesome content. WE TAKE THESE.
Her getting excited about pulling off things is so enjoyable. I'd love to see maybe roping Aleks and/or other of the voice actors into this.
Also she's got Jeremy and James on deck just like me. It really is the same game.
43:39 yooo that zangief was moving he broke my ankles there lol
This was fun, R.I.P headphone users
Faye Mata screaming and panicking while playing is so relatable.
42:40 He’s got that Anti-Snek Tech on Deck.
Thanks Faye, for using Talk no Jutsu to send the meteor away from the orphanage, before hopping in your Lamborghini to save lil' Timmy who was stuck in a tree.
You're a little confused but you got the spirit.
getting new players into fighting games is always great to see.
P.S. good looks on donating both of your kidneys to my daughter
Every time Faye makes a sound. The Audio Mixer: Yeah we’re clipping.
Sajam saved my life appreciate you sam
intro was awesome, questions were interesting
The 0.0001 nanosecond of discomfort on Bugatti Ben’s face after she did the Lulu laugh is everything to me.
Thanks for letting me borrow the Buggati Sajam. Really appreciate the fun content.
I'm sitting in the parking lot of a grocery store and I legitimately Luke fist pumped when Faye clutched out the win against that Kimberly.
Man I love the FGC 😂
Wait what my image of Fleet is forever changed they’re the SAME VOICE ACTOR?
25:29 i am DYINGGGG aki out here struggling irl😂😂
My brain short-circuited for a second reading the comments cause that's my name too lol
Watching this live was a really fun time. I hope she had fun, it seemed like it
This is so fun to watch!
This is awesome!
On the topic of Xiaoyu from Tekken, Faye would be the second actress to voice her in English. The first was Carrie Savage in Blood Vengeance and SFxT
Her enthusiasm Is infectious 😊
Glad this happened
