      Honestly I've taken the water clarity for granted. I'm just used to it. I won't take it for granted anymore.

    Great video! That water is amazing! Your 100% correct, most people give Albies away. Shame, because they fight great & are a beautiful looking fish. **Those Hogy Lures are also outstanding for Bonitos and Mackerels.

    @John Skinner Fishing sorry if you've been asked this before but have you considered mounting a polarized filter on your gopro to help with seeing below water surface? There are a few awesome enclosures that allow for a typical camera filters to be threaded on. Anyway, thanks for the great vids!

    I wish we could hook up to these silver bullets like this in Hawaii. That’s a great eating fish over here but mostly caught trolling on boats... but they do come up occasionally from shore rare tho! Anyway nice vid👍🏼

    Awesome stuff as always John! Man one of these days the thousands of hours I spend on Google Earth and the hundreds of hours I spend trying to triangulate your position from your footage is going to pay off. Lol... The Hogys (Hogies?) are great. I have been using them for Albies for the last two seasons. And I actually swap out the treble with the same size as the Deadly Dicks. The 35g is the way to go for surf casting (I haven't gotten one from Terra firma yet though), but when I'm on the boat runnin' & gunnin' I use the longer (lighter) ones. Obviously you don't need the distance from the boat and my hope is that the bigger profile will attract bigger footballs. It's just sad to see my Deadly Dicks gathering rust.

    Sometimes when they are feeding on super small bait like bay anchovies, peanut bunker or silversides, that's where the fly rod can come into play very well throwing small 2-3" flies that imitate the bait really well. Try "boyles bunny" a fly designed by a guy right here on Martha's Vineyard

    I just returned from an albie charter. While the fish were chasing bay anchovies we murdered them with Albie Snax but after they found the peanut bunker and herded them into coves they would not touch _any_ artificial we threw at them.

  • @KennyCannon
    @KennyCannon 7 лет назад

    John, I notice when you are retrieving that your bail is moving much slower than the rate at which you're turning the handle. Is that normal for the Clash? I never used one but was thinking of getting one for exactly what you're showing in this video.

    • @JohnSkinnerFishing
      @JohnSkinnerFishing  7 лет назад +1

      That's actually an optical illusion. The bail is spinning faster than the video framerate will show. It's similar to the illusion of seeing spokes on a hubcap go backwards when a car is going forward.

      I've seen someone catch it and bleed it immediately while on ice. The trick appears to be immediate bleeding and ice it in saltwater, no fresh water at all during this process. Cook as you please after that.
