What a good video.. I have one of the original hoya carnosa's it's over 46 years old.. I got cuttings from an old man 94 years and I'm sooo grateful. I got cuttings from a old crimson queen that 44 years old..
You are right about about liking what you like. The regular Hoya Carnosa is actually my most favourite Hoya. I love it for how dark green it gets and how fast it grows. There’s beauty in its simplicity.
I agree with you on plants with just solid green leaves.....they tend to be my favorite plants...on any plant....I call them my CLASSICS....some colorful or variegated plants can look gaudy or too busy for Me......Everybody has different tastes....nobody needs to judge us “Classic” green plant lovers...😉✌️💜💋
I don’t think your videos are too long. I usually don’t want to listening to a lot of talk but I enjoy listening to you…I find you interesting and like what you have to say. Also I love my Carnosa’s too.
So much great info! And am of same thinking. 🙌🏻 I’ve got some ‘rare’ hoya, and they are great, but to be honest my plain Obovata is my favourite of all! I find it sad when people suddenly get interested in a particular swap (they weren’t before) when internet tells them it’s uncommon etc They are missing out on so much! 😔
Exactly!!! One of my favs is my obovata too! She has been growing so well and developing splash under grow light. I don't care if people say "oh it's just a common Hoya". I absolutely adore her!! ❤
so much enjoy you & your videos. The longer, the better. Thanks 😊 for showing common Hoyas. i’ve had to stop purchasing, they are getting so expensive.
Awwww thank you for your support! Yea Hoya prices have gone up so much. I personally actually haven't been buying locally for the same reason. Plus it's winter and I definitely have enough plants to care for already. 😅
Hi Amanda i enjoy watching your videos on hoya alot. I learn alot from your video. I love carnosa too. I like krinkle 8, chelsea, matilde krimson princess.
Amanda, I have a Hoya carnosa that I got 40 years ago from a friends aunt It’s dark green with a light silver splash and it grows bouquets of leaves. When I take a cutting it can be a group of leaves of 3-10 leaves. I’ve never seen a carnosa like mine.
I just identified the plant someone gave me a year ago. I love it! It has really taken off in the last 3-4 months. It has really long vines with no leaves on them. Will they get leaves? Also, I notice that you have some of the vines clipped upward like they do with orchids. Does that help with the blooming or are you training it in some way? I’ve trimmed the vines and they still grow! Thanks for your help.
Does Hoya Carnosa have juvenile leaves that are purple? I am propagating mine and in the prop box with great light and humidity, new leaves are coming out purple!
I have a large one on a trellis but it’s not that bushy on the bottom… how can I get it to grow like that!? I’m fairly new to hoya’s but now have 8 different ones 🤣
Your so lucky.I have tried to grow the Krinkle 8 several times and the first one had mealy's and i had no way to stop them at that time,i didn't even have rubbing alcohol in the house. The second one froze to death (my fault) and the third one came to me with root rot.I tried to save the last one,but it ended badly for that one. So i guess i'm not suppose to grow this plant? Yours is beautiful though. It's one of my faves.
I would love to have dark green leaves. 😍 Now, I'm so confused.. my hoyas leaves are bright lime-green. People told me they are getting too much light. I'm wondering if I need to fertilize it because I rarely fertilize them. What fertilizer do you use & how much? Also, what grow-lights do you use? TIA!
That's a great observation!! It's absolutely understandable that you're confused. Basically if your leaves started to yellow, it could be due to nutrient deficiency (most likely nitrogen) or too much light. With that being said, you can confirm the actual cause by testing out one thing at a time. If your plant is actively growing, use a balanced fertilizer may be once every three weeks. For grow light wise, to be honest, I just use whatever I can find within my budget. But I recommend a full spectrum one (the white one) if you want to darken the foliage :)

Right??! The key is to enjoy what you enjoy. No one should tell you otherwise =)
Thoroughly enjoyed your video and agree 💯% Carnosas are awesome!

Beautiful hoya carnosa, they are soo many out there it is a never ending of this species 😍😘😚🤗
I know! I hope to collect more in the future =)
You're inspiring me to move all my carnosas from sunlight to grow lights! I love inky green too!!!
Haha!! Yea I'm glad they love the grow light. I use artificial light because I simply don't have enough natural light.
@@amandalaw7131 I think I do have enough natural light but they don't grow the same under sunlight! Hoyas are so weird! 💚
I wish the videos were longer..you provide so much great information!!
Awwww thanks!!
I love your long videos. ☺️

ken
Thank you! 😊

If the inter-node is elongated, your plant may be stretching to get more light. I recommend increasing the light level.
I have a really resilient hoya carnosa but have no idea which one it is. Do you know of any more names of carnosa cultivats?
I want a Leland Joseph hoya. I was sad when I missed the one you purged.
It's truly an awesome plant. I believe kokoranchhoyas.com sell them form time to time. Definitely check them out =)
🇬🇧💚Long videos are good!!!!!!
Glad you like them =)

We live and we learn right? 😅 I kill many Hoya many times until I get it right. Keep it up!!
@@amandalaw7131 I think i need a break from this one for a bit?maybe someday i will try it again? Lol
Yea may be, yet something you're more comfortable with :)
It's so hard to find a normal hoya in Florida
Eh!! Should I be jealous!!? 🤣🤣🤣

You have just killed my resolve to buy no more plants! Where in Canada can I get a krinkle eight and a Leland Joseph?
I wish I could tell you. Unfortunately I'm not familiar with Canadian sellers. 🙏🏼
Love all Carnosas except Compacta. It’s such a bug trap.
i git my xarnisa a much wider leaves when it matured and have a patches
