The Ed Sullivan Show was a television variety program that aired on CBS from 1948-1971. For 23 years it aired every Sunday night and played host to the world's greatest talents. The Ed Sullivan Show is well known for bringing rock n' roll music to the forefront of American culture through acts like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones. The entertainers each week ranged from comedians like Joan Rivers and Rodney Dangerfield, to Broadway stars Julie Andrews and Richard Burton, to pop singers such as Bobby Darin and Petula Clark. It also frequently featured stars of Motown such as The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5. The Ed Sullivan Show was one of the only places on American television where such a wide variety of popular culture was showcased and its legacy lives on to this day.

Maintaining an embouchure while throwing that tenor saxophone all around looks like an art in itself.
Where has this been this whole time? Never seen a bass played like that!!! These guys were way ahead of what was to come!!!!
That bass!!!!!! Never again, far as I know..
Lmao 🤣😆🤣😆🤣🤣 Amaaaaaazing!!!
You can see that The Comets were basically a Country Band at one time, look at the steel guitar and the accordion. I worked with Bill and his Band as support with my Band back in the Sixties, what a great Band they were.
Originally Bill Haley & His Sadlemen. Somewhere in this house is a photo from the late 1940's- early 1950s- a publicity shot for radio station WKBK in Keene, NH. It's of a cowboy band around a WKBK microphone. There was absolutely nothing on the photo for ID. The 'cowboy' on the left has a very strong resemblance to Bill Haley. If I can ever re-find that picture I'm going to send a copy to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland and see if they can identify it.
Everyone forgets how good Bill Haley and the Comets were. “ Jamaican DJ “ one of my personal favorites.
This is pure awesomeness!!!!!!!
Incredible musicians, and what a show! They also performed "40 Cups of Coffee" on this episode which was posted last year. Their only other appearance was the famous one where they do "Rock Around the Clock" and that has also been posted, so all the Bill Haley and His Coments appearances have now been posted.
This instrumental was originally recorded by Count Basie in 1939 as, "Lester Leaps In."
Wow, these guys are amazing performers!! The drummer was incredible.
Bill Haley est au Rock N Roll ce que Michel Ange est à la sculpture, un pionnier et un créateur !
Can't believe there is a live version for it
Moral of the story: when no one can hear what the bass is playing, then you can play it however you want.
That is true!!
There's more than one way to play an instrument! Thank you for sharing! 💖
My favorite are rock this joint... move it on over... rock around the clock..see u later alligator my dad got me hooked on these songs before my time but love these songs
And they did all that in tuxes!!!!!
Kick it!
Quite the sax sound!
Later in the show, Ed had Bill and his band perform "When The Saints Go Marching In."
Bill Bailey won't you come home was a close second
Is that available to see?
That performance isn't listed in the episode guides I've seen, nor is it listed on Historic Films. You must have a different source. Do you know of a more thorough episode guide site online?

Note the double bassist's hand movements in 1.58 later copied by Pete Townshend. Thank you. Good night.
👍👏🙌😘
Lol they keep getting the dates wrong in the thumbnail
Can you upload Cliff Richard on it, too.
Amazing musicians live on stage.
As for Sir Cliff, it would be nice to see one of his 1962 or 1963 appearances on the show.
In fact, he had got a slot on Ed Sullivan in 1960, but never liked what he was made to sing there. It was a music hall comedy song in an East London (Cockney) accent called 'Where Did You Get That Hat?'
To me it's not rudy's rock...
Muita doidêra....tira a originalidade
