When I was managing a theater, this movie was on constant rotation. The keys didn’t expire to the digital print until 2013. We watched this movie every week the keys expired myself and my friend Lynn would watch this every Wednesday just to have something to do. It was the best four years of my life. And I left this job in 2014.
That’s a sure sign of being old, I’m basically ancient because I still consider the Black Album “New Metallica” didn’t that come out like year before last ?
I remember being in the theater for this movie. Was looking forward to it for sooo long! The movie started and as soon as the stripper zombies were running in slow motion an older couple (in their 60s at least) stood up and drug their grandkids out of the theater. Apparently they saw Woody Harrelson with zombies and thought it was going to be slapstick comedy.
I used to work at Wild Adventures. The ride the girls are on when they start seeing the zombies showing up is called Pharaoh’s Fury. The ride they get on in order to avoid the horde, labeled as the Blast-Off in the film is actually called the Double-Shot before it got renamed to the Firecracker and then Buzzby’s Blast-Off. The ride that Tallahassee hangs off of while shooting zombies is called The Aviator (which was behind where I used to work, the Dipping Dots booth before it got moved to a different spot). The ride Tallahassee gets on that he shoots zombies as he rides along that’s yellow is the Bug-Out. When the Hummer goes into the lagoon, you can see The Boomerang in the background. There is no Haunted House attraction that you see in the film (it was a façade they put up that blocked the path to one of the animal exhibits in the park and the interior that you see Columbus go through was filmed at another location), as was the shack with the switch to turn on the power to the park. The ride that Columbus runs through that takes out the zombies chasing him from the Haunted House is called The Roundup when I was there, and then got renamed to the Rattler. The park is currently owned by Dolly Parton’s amusement park chain and they have installed more trees throughout the park since I worked there back in the early 2000s. Also, a funny little detail: the girls enter the park through the front entrance, as does the boys when they arrive. However, after the boys pull into the park from the front, the next shot that has the girls looking at them pulling up, they’re coming from a different direction (from the direction of where the stage is for live performances).
This is my favorite zombie movie of all time. And yes, I did enjoy the sequel as much as the first one. Enjoy the little things is a great rule to go by.
I've always hated how Columbus is supposedly so smart and has his rules but he carries a gun that only has 2 shots before needing reloading. A pump action would have been so much better.
Yeah, but they never jam, never misfire, you could throw one in a lake for a month, pull it out and fire it. I own one and it is my favorite. Plus, you get to feel like Mad Max and/or Bruce Campbell.
Since its American why not just go with a full auto AA-12? Or at least a semi automatic. For a country swimming in guns a double barrel shotgun is so dumb.
@nakmuay7705 if we're talking Zombie situation, I have a semi-auto Marlin .22 rifle it weighs nothing has a 17 round capacity, no kick, and a wee little scope. But that coach gun is gonna be slung across my back w/ some double ought Buckshot. Edit: I mispoke. My brother just reminded me that Marlin holds 15 in the mag, one in the hole.
Had heard of this movie, but didn’t actually see it until more than ten years after it came out (didn’t even know about the sequel) and have to say I’m so glad I watched it cause it was a blast!
If you've never had an original Twinkie, you never will, sadly. Hostess went bankrupt and Twinkies disappeared from store shelves in 2012. They were bought out by 2 new companies, and the new Twinkies were now different. They're smaller, tougher, and taste different now. My condolences, lol. I have the same sentiment for anyone who never tried the McRib before the 90's, lol.
It's also important to note: Twinkies have a short shelf life. They're famous in pop culture for being one of the few things that will be edible years after an apocalyptic scenario, enduring like the cockroach (which incidentally also has exaggerated survivability status). The actual shelf life of a Twinkie? About a month and a half. Undoubtedly, they'll still be fine for a good deal longer than that, but you can expect the nutritionally deficient snack cake will be a lot less 'fresh' after just a few months, let alone a few years.
greed. There are plenty of knock-off Twinkies from smaller brands that are twice as good as Twinkies, but for whatever reason, the actual Twinkies are the most popular, lol.
As a Gen X, I kind of remember twinkies as much more of a treat than today's kids probably would think. Sweets just weren't as much a daily thing, at least in my neck of the woods. I can remember an 8 oz can of coke as being really special. Now that's a tiny serving. (Heck, just tonight I was with my niece and nephew and they both got 20 oz. cups of boba drinks as dessert) Personally when I was a kid, I loved fruit pies way more than twinkies, but there just weren't as many treats in general to choose from. Anyway that's why I think they were such a big deal to our generation.

One Thursday night, the cast & crew were gearing up for that nights filming and nobody could find Woody. We found out later that Matthew McConaughey had flown into Valdosta to kidnap Woody off to Hawaii for an unscheduled weekend off.

I love Zombieland! And now part of me wants to send Minty a Twinkie. The other part of me remembers the last time I ate one, and I don't want to curse poor Minty like that.
You aren't wrong, Minty. I heard about the show & was 100% expecting a new cast & story in the Zombieland universe. When I saw it was a recast I instantly noped out.
I took my friend to go see Zombieland since her boyfriend was not a zombie movie fan. Ten years later, I took my friend (now wife) to go see Zombieland Double Tap on our 10th anniversary! Fantastic films and led to fantastic times with my best friend! Thank God her BF didn't like zombie flicks!
Cool video. I live in Valdosta and was a zombie extra in the film. Not sure why people say Wild Adventures is in Valdosta. It is in the rural part of Lowndes County in the unincorporated area called Clyattville.
Hey Minty. I've been following u a few years now. I just want to say ur a great dude and I appreciate your videos. God bless you and may he grace all the works of your hands and make his presence known in your life.
You're absolutely NOT wrong about the series. I always hate when they recast actors in sequels or TV spinoffs, as you said it would have been way better and I'd have adored a show if they either A.) got the original actors(not easy with movies stars going to TV, I know) or B.) had all new characters. Hell, each season could have been a new set of 4 people from different states and different personalities and I'd have totally been on board. But seeing it as the same 4 movie characters but different actors just killed it completely for me before it even started.
I love a good zom-com like Shaun of the dead, and of course zombie land and double tap. These are movies that continue to stand up against the test of time, and continue to get better with each rewatch.
Yeah, Amazon had like 4 or 6 different pilots come out one month, and we got to vote on the website. I remember it was so bad it took me numerous tries to get through it.
I loved zombie land not only for its originality but it's the first zombie movie where the characters in the movie already knew what zombies were and weren't just completely stupid to what zombies are.
I remember seeing Zombieland in the theater. Woody Harrison Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone, and Abigail Breslin were perfect in the movie. The zombie and humor were top-notch. Plus, who doesn't love Bill Murray?
The answer to the question "Why did it fail?" is typically because it lacked consistency. There's more consistency in the answer to that question than there is in the media people ask that question about.
The attempt at a show on Amazon was part of a contest. There were several different pilots that dropped at the same time, four I believe. Each show was given the chance at a series based on fan approval.
"For something that's a little naughty naughty..." Depends on what state yer in and when. Unfortunately, Georgia still hasn't even decriminalized it yet, although Texas is about to.
We here in Virginia have been enjoying the legalization of "The evil demon weed, marijuana" for a few years now. Bonus point to anyone who knows where the the line in quotations comes from.
Couple things here... Woody was probably High AF and still wrapped up in his movie mindset, and actually did think it was a zombie. Minty you're probably dead on with that thought about the characters being re-cast being the reason for the hate. No one likes it when the studio changes familiar characters. It would have been fun as hell to watch a series of new characters take on Zombieland with some occasional cameos from the original movie crew.
Just FYI, Zombieland was dropped as a TV series because the studio the filmmakers went to told them that a TV show about zombies would flop. A few years later The Walking Dead came out.
In the mid-late 90s, us Aussies tried to bring Twinkies to Australia but we branded them Twinkles ...once Aussies found out what they tasted like and had fake cream inside...they said 'yeah, nah' and it failed miserably.....we do have certain stores that import them into Australia but they are not widely eaten or known..
I've been selective about what zombie films I watch. Believing the genre to have been done to death. (Pun intended.) Having seen all the classic and best current films, this is the one I've missed. Thanks for reminding me, Minty!
I bet I know something about Zombieland you couldn't possibly know in a thousand lifetimes. I grew up near that theme park, and have some fond memories on the Doubleshot. That is the tower ride that goes up and down and Wichita uses a double barrel on. Geographically Wild Adventures is in Clyattville also.
I'm not really that into zombie movies, but I absolutely loved both Zombieland movies and Shaun of the Dead. I even dust them off and re-watch them now and then when I need a laugh. I don't think you could have asked for a better cast in any of those movies. You may not have twinkies in Australia, but you have Tim Tams and they're on a whole other level.
I live in Georgia like an hour away from the theme park and tripped out finding out it was filmed here. Robert Knievel jumped that huge water area one July 4th. It was pretty cool.
I did watch the pilot. It was good, I think people hated it due to it being a semi retread of the movie in terms of characters. Also Amazon use to do this thing, where they would film 5 pilots of tv shows and the audiences get to choose which one they preferred. This was one of them. Along with that I highly recommend the US remake pilot for Mad Dogs. It did not get picked up, assuming that the UK version die-hard voted it down.
Something you left out. The scene inside of the haunted house at the amusement park was done at the Netherworld haunted House attraction in Gwinnett Georgia and it happened to be number one that year in the United States for haunted houses in the USA.
Someone ship this dude a box of twinkies!! They are kinda sponge-like....but theres a sugar creme filling. Imo i think everyone just eats twinkies for that filling and puts up with the spongefood just to eat more of that filling Twinkies are good as a base for strawberry (or other berries) and whipped creme desserts
You made me laugh like crazy! You're right about the TV pilot. It's all about the casting. Woody H. made Zombieland. Made it! I would like (if possible) for you to let us know if any of the movies you cover are on a streaming service. Right now, I want to watch Zombieland...😂
You can get Twinkies here in Australia at least here in South Australia get them imported along with a few other itmes like Butterfingers and Baby Ruth's sold at Easymarts or Cheap as Chips but usually about $10-$12 a box

Here Down Under, there's actually a shop in my hometown called The Reject Shop, essentially its just a general store of off-brand snacks, and other stuff, and they actually sell Twinkies, I think they still do, I haven't had one in 4 years, but I remember them being okay, didn't really understand Talahasse's fixation with Twinkies personally.
When something is taken away the want gets stronger.
@@mexicanspec - Can't argue with that, KFC used to have these small wraps called Nacho Cheese Rollers, bloody delicious, I hate that they removed it from the menu, same with Macca's with the Mozzarella Sticks & Oreo Milkshakes, first time I tried an Oreo Milkshake from Macca's, the following week it was removed from the menu.
The Reject Shop? Sounds like the Biden Administration
I tried one once, they are kinda bland, with a chemical (artificial) after taste. Disappointed.
I live in Valdosta, Ga where they filmed the ending at Wild Adventures theme park. I worked there about 20 years ago too.
I love the fact that the beginning takes place in Garland TX. I was born there and thought it was hilarious how out of all cities in the US they picked Garland. Anyway, great movie and great show Minty!
Quick! Somebody send Minty a box of Twinkies! The man’s missing out!
They are not even close to the same as the original ones from back in the day
@@BoozeandNewswithTimandDutTrue, but also am I a weirdo for really liking the banana ones?
@@mikeythezero thank God I've never had one..lol. sounds hellish
@@BoozeandNewswithTimandDut they were actually pretty good
@@mikeythezero I never had them or the chocolate covered ones
I'd forgotten about this fllm, gotta watch it again! Cheers Mark, Lee UK
I need to watch Zombieland... and try a Twinkie. Also, I can't imagine you with hair, Minty. You've probably posted some images of your younger self with hair, but I can't recall them. Anyway, awesome video, as always!
I actually learned some facts I didn't know about this one. I LOVE your videos, they're always very informative.
Even if I DO end up actually knowing all the info you're presenting about the film of topic in one of your videos- I still find the energy and way you present the facts incredibly ENJOYABLE!!!
DUDE I'm sad for you NEVER EXPERIENCING A TWINKIE!!!!
You should put that on your "to do list"/ "bucket list".
I have ALWAYS enjoysled twinkies. It's a yellow sponge cake filled with a white fluffy cream similar to whip cream or cool whip. A treat for your tastebuds...especially if you're a sugar junkie like myself.
Keep up the excellent work brother!

You're not missing anything with Twinkies.
Dry sponge cake and whipped cream. Nothing special.
Hey Minty Almost 500k give us a special update tour of your Blockbuster store!!!!
JUST Saw this on TV..... glad I saw this posting as well.... Cool Beans!!
You're right about the TV series... Changing the leads could have made a big difference...
twinkies are like strawberry short cake but without the strawberries.
You were so close to spelling the cast names correctly...
Lucy Liu
The answer to the question "Why did it fail?" is typically because it lacked consistency. There's more consistency in the answer to that question than there is in the media people ask that question about.
4:15 savage Minty
The attempt at a show on Amazon was part of a contest. There were several different pilots that dropped at the same time, four I believe. Each show was given the chance at a series based on fan approval.
Minty! Your flashing sign looks like its saying "Minty Comedi Carts!" :P Program it better, maybe so it flashes each word individually.
I love Minty Comedi Carts!!
Twinkies are delightful! Come to the US just for a Twinkie.
(Pun intended.)
Having seen all the classic and best current films, this is the one I've missed. Thanks for reminding me, Minty!
Woody wasn't saying his actions were understandable because he was still in character, he was saying that paparazzi have zombie-like qualities.
My favorite zombie film.
Woody should have just used the defense, that it was a TMZ photographer. That by itself should be enough.
Imo i think everyone just eats twinkies for that filling and puts up with the spongefood just to eat more of that filling
Twinkies are good as a base for strawberry (or other berries) and whipped creme desserts
You made me laugh like crazy! You're right about the TV pilot. It's all about the casting. Woody H. made Zombieland. Made it! I would like (if possible) for you to let us know if any of the movies you cover are on a streaming service. Right now, I want to watch Zombieland...😂
When Minty showed the first scene in the pilot I wondered who that family was. it didn't looks like 4 separate characters that had come together.
@@mexicanspec I was bored looking at the photo and didn't care who they were. Now I want to try and find the pilot, see if it's as bad as it seems.
When she asked Bill Murray if he had any regrets. He shouda said, "I never shoulda worked with woody in kingpin". That woulda been comedy gold.
Zombieland is a great movie and as far as you not eating a Twinkie you are not missing much
Thanks for all the information on this film. Can you do a video on the first Balto film and All Dogs go to Heaven 1 and 2.
Finally, Minty is gonna hit 500k subs! He should be at 1 mil already, come on people.
You can get Twinkies here in Australia at least here in South Australia get them imported along with a few other itmes like Butterfingers and Baby Ruth's sold at Easymarts or Cheap as Chips but usually about $10-$12 a box
This made me smile. Thank you!
I love this movie! Great job Minty!
Believe it or not, Twinkies have an expiration date.
Somebody get Minty some Twinkies!!!
Dude, you can get Twinkies in Australia. I've gotten them from Aldi stores at different times of the year..
In SA where I live you can buy Twinkies at cheap as chips and those British/American lolly stores
Somebody out there needs to get Minty some Twinkies. You haven't truly lived if you haven't had a Tinkie.
I loooved the first one! ☝️
The second one?
Not so much. Don’t remember it, sadly,..
Nobody could have replaced Bill "Fkn" Murray!
Great movie. Fully agree that the Series should have focused on an entirely new group of people.
🤣😂 Didn't realize the Gas Station guy who helps Wichita, is the guy who eats it in the bathroom stall.

Speaking of Twinkies. I had a request from several friends from Australia for them. I put them in special cases so they wouldn't get smashed during my flight.
