The ride Tallahassee gets on that he shoots zombies as he rides along that’s yellow is the Bug-Out. When the Hummer goes into the lagoon, you can see The Boomerang in the background. There is no Haunted House attraction that you see in the film (it was a façade they put up that blocked the path to one of the animal exhibits in the park and the interior that you see Columbus go through was filmed at another location), as was the shack with the switch to turn on the power to the park. The ride that Columbus runs through that takes out the zombies chasing him from the Haunted House is called The Roundup when I was there, and then got renamed to the Rattler. The park is currently owned by Dolly Parton’s amusement park chain and they have installed more trees throughout the park since I worked there back in the early 2000s. Also, a funny little detail: the girls enter the park through the front entrance, as does the boys when they arrive. However, after the boys pull into the park from the front, the next shot that has the girls looking at them pulling up, they’re coming from a different direction (from the direction of where the stage is for live performances).
This is my favorite zombie movie of all time. And yes, I did enjoy the sequel as much as the first one. Enjoy the little things is a great rule to go by.

I love Zombieland! And now part of me wants to send Minty a Twinkie. The other part of me remembers the last time I ate one, and I don't want to curse poor Minty like that.
I know the lady who played mississippi Cynthia nickerboker with the piano, Joan Schuermeyer. I work with her on a few projects in north carolina, including "The Forever Dead."
I remember watching the Zombieland pilot and I liked it. It, and a sports comedy type show, were my picks from that season. They didn't pick up either of them. The likely reason you've never heard of it is because, at that time, Amazon had a "pilot season" where they had different pilots of different shows and let customers vote. The ones that didn't make it got ghosted almost immediately after the voting. Even as a paying Amazon streaming customer, I can't watch them again. 😔
I worked at the park that was "Pacific Playland" while it was being filmed. For the part where Woody rode by himself on the yellow coaster car blasting zombies off different platforms through the ride: we picked up empty shotgun shells out of that ride's area for months even after the movie premiered. One Thursday night, the cast & crew were gearing up for that nights filming and nobody could find Woody. We found out later that Matthew McConaughey had flown into Valdosta to kidnap Woody off to Hawaii for an unscheduled weekend off.
I remember seeing Zombieland in the theater. Woody Harrison Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone, and Abigail Breslin were perfect in the movie. The zombie and humor were top-notch. Plus, who doesn't love Bill Murray?
I heard that the undisclosed person who dropped out was Eddie Van Halen who entered rehab in early 2008 at the same time filming for Zombieland began. He really wanted to be in the movie but he had other priorities, they still wanted to give him a shout-out which is why they included the joke about him being a zombie at the Hollywood Bowl. The good thing about his skipping out on his movie cameo was Eddie quit drinking and married his girlfriend Janie Liszewski in July 2009.
I loved zombie land not only for its originality but it's the first zombie movie where the characters in the movie already knew what zombies were and weren't just completely stupid to what zombies are.
You aren't wrong, Minty. I heard about the show & was 100% expecting a new cast & story in the Zombieland universe. When I saw it was a recast I instantly noped out.
I love the fact that the beginning takes place in Garland TX. I was born there and thought it was hilarious how out of all cities in the US they picked Garland. Anyway, great movie and great show Minty!
The attempt at a show on Amazon was part of a contest. There were several different pilots that dropped at the same time, four I believe. Each show was given the chance at a series based on fan approval.
You're absolutely NOT wrong about the series. I always hate when they recast actors in sequels or TV spinoffs, as you said it would have been way better and I'd have adored a show if they either A.) got the original actors(not easy with movies stars going to TV, I know) or B.) had all new characters. Hell, each season could have been a new set of 4 people from different states and different personalities and I'd have totally been on board. But seeing it as the same 4 movie characters but different actors just killed it completely for me before it even started.
I took my friend to go see Zombieland since her boyfriend was not a zombie movie fan. Ten years later, I took my friend (now wife) to go see Zombieland Double Tap on our 10th anniversary! Fantastic films and led to fantastic times with my best friend! Thank God her BF didn't like zombie flicks!
Woody Harrelson is a Vegan and environmentalist, who had the film Kiss The Ground, about climate crisis and possible solutions to it. Maybe this explains the ban on food and environmentally sets, not a total solution to the problems but a start.
The answer to the question "Why did it fail?" is typically because it lacked consistency. There's more consistency in the answer to that question than there is in the media people ask that question about.
I bet I know something about Zombieland you couldn't possibly know in a thousand lifetimes. I grew up near that theme park, and have some fond memories on the Doubleshot. That is the tower ride that goes up and down and Wichita uses a double barrel on. Geographically Wild Adventures is in Clyattville also.
"For something that's a little naughty naughty..." Depends on what state yer in and when. Unfortunately, Georgia still hasn't even decriminalized it yet, although Texas is about to.
We here in Virginia have been enjoying the legalization of "The evil demon weed, marijuana" for a few years now. Bonus point to anyone who knows where the the line in quotations comes from.
Speaking of Twinkies. I had a request from several friends from Australia for them. I put them in special cases so they wouldn't get smashed during my flight.
I live in Georgia like an hour away from the theme park and tripped out finding out it was filmed here. Robert Knievel jumped that huge water area one July 4th. It was pretty cool.
ironically now with the divide between Tv and movie work not being there as much as it used to be you could easily cast a limited Tv show with the original cast
After seeing this video a couple of days ago I couldn't think of anything to comment on since I hadn't seen the movie but now I know what I want to say and that is how surprised I am that Woody Harrelson's character's love for Twinkies in this movie didn't increase sales of boxes of Twinkies.
Just an observation and question: the "Minty Comedic Arts" sign seems to be 12 characters wide including "space" as a character, but refreshes the display for text strings that are longer. Does it have only 2 "screens" that it alternates between, or would it have as many as needed to display the full text? If you added 6 extra spaces after "Minty," then the sign would switch between 2 screens: "Minty " and "Comedic Arts". Alternately, you could add more spaces between each word and have the sign cycle through 3 screens: "Minty ", "Comedic ", and "Arts". Not sure if programming it would be a pain, so no need to mess with it if you wouldn't be able to easily set it back to it's current working state, ha.
I live about an hr from that theme park, and watching that movie on release i kept saying dang that looks familiar and finally figured it out before the movie was over
Didn't know this was shot in Georgia when I started to watch it. Something about the opening scene bothered me in some way, looked very familiar for some reason. After watching it a few time I figured out that the plaza they used was right around the corner from me. Funny I never seen them filming. On a side note the very small building he crashes into in the opening scene was an actual business that was the size of a large closet, the building unfortunately no longer exist
You can get Twinkies here in Australia at least here in South Australia get them imported along with a few other itmes like Butterfingers and Baby Ruth's sold at Easymarts or Cheap as Chips but usually about $10-$12 a box
That's the most brilliant excuse for punching a photographer ever😂
When Woody said it was understandable, it had to be a dig at his looks or job as paparazzo 😂
...or perhaps an apt comparison, because instead of brains, they mindlessly follow you around for pics!

Can't wait for Minty to do reviews Goodfellas or The Godfather! I've been requesting those two for years!
My favorite zombie film.
The answer to the question "Why did it fail?" is typically because it lacked consistency. There's more consistency in the answer to that question than there is in the media people ask that question about.
Great!!
In my understanding, he was saying it’s ‘understandable’ because paparazzi are like zombies.
I love Minty Comedi Carts!!
When Hollywood actually made fun films
I did not know what Twinkie’s were either (USA) as a kid and remember questioning what he was eating in ghostbusters. So you are not alone.
I'd forgotten about this fllm, gotta watch it again! Cheers Mark, Lee UK
Hey Minty Almost 500k give us a special update tour of your Blockbuster store!!!!
I love this movie! Great job Minty!
Wait what? I've only heard negative feedback about zombieland 2.
Because it's crap
ironically now with the divide between Tv and movie work not being there as much as it used to be you could easily cast a limited Tv show with the original cast
Well if you can’t have a Twinkie, you can always be one 😊
After seeing this video a couple of days ago I couldn't think of anything to comment on since I hadn't seen the movie but now I know what I want to say and that is how surprised I am that Woody Harrelson's character's love for Twinkies in this movie didn't increase sales of boxes of Twinkies.
Nice intro graphics you got there!
JUST Saw this on TV..... glad I saw this posting as well.... Cool Beans!!
Good Morning Minty, cool video as always, you take care and have a great weekend sir
If you look closely during the scene with Hostess truck there ARE twinkies behind the right unopened door , Tallahassee didn't look hard enough.
In the grocery store scene, there are twinkies on the shelf. Dozens of them
Just an observation and question: the "Minty Comedic Arts" sign seems to be 12 characters wide including "space" as a character, but refreshes the display for text strings that are longer.
That was my thought too, my OCD wants to go there and change it lol
I thought I might be the only one distracted by the Comedi Carts.
I live about an hr from that theme park, and watching that movie on release i kept saying dang that looks familiar and finally figured it out before the movie was over
Have you done Defendor? Woody nailed it
As a rule I don't watch zombie movies, but I did see this one, and twinkies are terrific.
Patrick Swayze in Zombieland would've been awesome
Zo.biland is based on s book by Mark Brooks, called "Rules to survive a zonbie apocaliose
You can get Twinkies here in Australia at least here in South Australia get them imported along with a few other itmes like Butterfingers and Baby Ruth's sold at Easymarts or Cheap as Chips but usually about $10-$12 a box
Only thing I want to know about Zombieland is where are they getting electricity from?
Never known a more aptly named Actor than Jessie!
You're not missing out on the twinkies- you are sort of close as they do kind of taste like sponges!
