Very interesting video! Would it be cool to do also a video on how to pick a chord progression when you have already a melody in mind? I often struggle with it. I have a cool melody that I want to use as a seed of a new song and then I get stuck in the rut of thinking about what chord sounds best with this line/motif. Great video! 🔥👍
You basically do the opposite. If you're in C and the note is F, there are three chords that readily "fit" that note: Fmajor, Dminor, Bdiminished. If you start with the primary chords (I, IV, V) under each note, you can refine the chords with simple substitutions (I --> iii or vi; IV --> ii; V --> iii). You can then try varying the harmonic rhythm - how many chords per bar.
Yeah what he said is true, it’s the same process in reverse. I might also make a video about that though, I considered it while making this one and it’s something I do pretty often
Nice video! I've noticed that some notes that are within the scale do not always sound that consonant. The concept of chord tones is new to me, so if i wanna use 4 notes for a melody, a reasonable note would be to include the 7th? Also, I didn't see the 1st in the melody, is this intentional? Only 3rds and 5ths?

Welcome back
damn that AI kinda scary ngl 😅
what plugin is that ai voice but you can also write words notes by notes? it's like a melodyne.
I'm very curious to how you go about working in a reverse mode. So, you have the melody, what chords to use?
It’s really exactly the same thing in reverse - find chords that have the melody note as a chord tone. That’s it!
@@treyxaviermusic Thanks!
