Nice idea, but I feel that it should have been made longer to give a bit more stability. Perhaps designed to hook over the ends of the tank. Also the wiring connection could have been done properly, and would have made it look a lot nicer.
One length of Rain Gutter (To fit your aquarium), 2 Gutter End Caps, 1 roll of reflective (Silver) Duct Work Tape, 1 Remote Waterproof LED strip kit from EBay to match Aquarium length (10.99 + free shipping). Line your gutter on the Inside with the reflective tape, run your LED Strip over the reflective tape and the power wire through one end cap. You can add additional tape to support your lights but the factory Adhesive is more then strong enough. Paint your gutter cap Black on the outside if it's exposed, draws less attention. Plug it in and play with the settings. It is a Cheap Alternative to most DIY Aquarium Light Projects. This is a KING OF DIY project, Joey. Not my idea, but I have used it on every aquarium I own. If your not familiar with Joey, KING OF DIY, look him up you won't regret it.

The arowana will eventually end up dead in the floor, and since they can break through class canopies, electrocution is a very real possibility with the way you have chosen to just rest the light across the tank. gl!

The idea is good, but the execution is bad. The wire ends must be insulated (heat shrink tubing) and the connections soldered and insulated with heat shrink tubing. In addition, I test the function before I close the final.

Why didn't you paint the glass from top and from sides with black colour. the light would not reflect outside, it will focus beneath only.

An alternative is to use ready made, cheap waterproof LED strips...I have a video on that, if interested

That's what I did and used PVC guttering lined with aluminium insulation tape for the reflector. Plus you can use your phone with the app to program and adjust colour etc.
Had to be done with powerled

aluminum backing is more practical for dissipating the heat
i'm pretty sure there is no heat from led lighting
@@kevintango6567 LED lights DO generate a small amount of heat compared to other light sources. They Can burn out if it is not dissipated and the temperature gets too high

It is an idea up on which every on can work to have their own DIY project.
As the saying goes " I can feed food in your mouth, don't ask me to chew it for you though".
Just look up led modules on ebay or similar sites. The rest is acrylic, plastic or glass. Your choice. And silicone.

Nice idea, but not very safe for the arowana, if it jumps and taps that fixture, it'll probably get electrocuted, good luck buddy!
I purchased this type of led but they only last about a year to eighteen months then burn out but they are very bright and stick well

100w chip in your choice of spectrum off ebay SMD/LED chip and a 36v 1400ma driver cheap piece of aluminum 18 x 6in will murder this LED in the video
all things people say aside, I just didn't like how you used silicone so little... if used black caulking to coat top and used it on sides... or used alminum/acrylic with epoxy. i may have liked more...

What about maintenance. What if the strip get fused. How should you replace the strip. Again hav to do all process by removing glass slab and replacing LED lights again to silicon it. Very hectic process.
I suggest strip lights would be cheaper but I notice this video is 2016 so maybe strip lights weren't available. $15 for 16ft.

People wondering what the leds are called and where to get them. Doesn't look like this guy is gonna help. But look up led modules and you'll find a few different designs and colours. But connected in string type like these. And for the the connector look up led inline connectors on eBay and others.
