    Thank you for taking the time to put this video together. I have a 29F as well, only difference is we didn't go with the farmhouse color pattern. We have almost the exact same use case - wife and I with 3 kids and 2 dogs. Plenty of space, would always like more but I don't think you can find that at this price point. I also have many of the same observations as you- tons of storage both inside and outside. Same complaint with the back bedroom space, 6 more inches would have made a big difference! Also wish the slide could extend 3-4 inches further out. My additions since we bough in Jan 21: added another deep cycle battery as I found the single battery wasn't enough to last all night when boondocking while running heat/tv/etc. Added a TPMS for peace of mind, really like knowing tire pressure/temp and having an alarm if we get a leak. I had the spark plug wire problem as well, had to limp into Ford dealership to get replaced. PITA. I added a rear track bar and a steering damper up front. Not cheap but relatively easy to self install. Had the front end aligned and front tires balanced. Very easy to drive now, really only need a couple fingers going down the interstate. Couple of other little minor gripes not worth mentioning but every RV has those. One of my favorite things about this RV is how easy it is to maneuver. Wheelbase is only a couple feet more than my truck- as long as you keep an eye on the long overhang you can go just about anywhere. Huge fan of the 30amp service with the high efficiency 11k btu ACs with power monitoring system. Very easy to "moochdock" with family or friends. 1 AC, fridge, and lights will very easily run on a standard 15 amp garage outlet. 1 AC won't be cold during the day but is plenty at night as the fiberglass roof and insulation keep things much cooler than our previous travel trailer. All in all we are pleased with our purchase, glad to see you seem to be as well.

      Once I fixed my initial problems, it has been a great RV for the price. If you have the spare cash, get your front windows ceramic tinted. Will help keep your RV cool when it's hot out and allow you to keep the front shade up so you can enjoy the view if you have one!

      No matter what brand you go with, anything with the "new" Ford 7.3L V8 engine might have spark plug wire issues. I had issues with mine with plug wires burning up causing cylinder misfires. Ford has a service bulletin out on it and replaced all of them at no cost which fixed my issue. The chassis date affected was any new V8 chassis installed up until sept of 2020. There is a sticker on the wall of every RV that has the chassis manufacturer date on it. Good luck!

      I paid 104k for mine. Just be careful if you buy a gas RV with the 7.3L godzilla. Everything on the market built with a chassis date sept 2020 or before is going to have spark plug wire issues. Ford will replace them for you with shielded wires for free once the check engine light comes on. It is a technical service bulletin however so they will not do it until the light comes on. Kinda a pain, but they did fix mine at no cost when it did happen. I have had no problems with the new shielded wires installed.

    How is the ride on your 29 footer. I'm about to purchase a 27A and just curious on how smooth does a ride up and down the highway.

    • @americanx8365
      @americanx8365  2 года назад

      I would call the ride average. With smaller tires, you definitely bounce a bit more then some higher priced units with large rims and tires. I do not think it is terrible. I did add some padding to my dash and dog house to quiet up some rattles.

    • @americanx8365
      @americanx8365  3 года назад

      I had an older Tadi Brothers backup camera system i never used for anything and just took the screen from it. You can get a screen off Amazon. Just make sure it has AV plug-ins and 12V power capability. They will come with the mount you need. I did have to drill 1hole in the dash to get the power and AV cable through. I used the existing screws for the facia on the dash to mount the bracket.

    Thanks for your review. We are looking for a Class A that is small so we can do the State Parks. Do you tow a car or van? How is the power? When you say you can put a Washer and dryer or the combo unit in. How would you hook up the water and drainage?

    • @americanx8365
      @americanx8365  2 года назад +1

      The wash/dryer modification would have to be done by you hooking into existing utilities. Not something you should do yourself if you are not comfortable taking your RV apart. I flat tow a 2016 Dodge Dart SXT 6 speed manual. Lighter tow vehicle the better when you are pulling with a gas engine RV. My tow vehicle weighs in right over 3k pounds. The RV does ok pulling it. I had my RV fully loaded going though the I24 mountains outside Chattanooga TN. Was still going 60MPH when I hit the top.

    It's been a few years since you've bought your 29F. Have you had any of the generator issues that seem to be prevalent with the Alante 29f? I am just about sold this is the unit and Floorplan, but those forums have caused me to really pause on it.

    • @americanx8365
      @americanx8365  Год назад +1

      Generator has been a pain when it's hot out. I have tried several things with the oil level, types of oil, and even gave it a full service to no avail. It gets overwhelmed from the engine heat and not enough air flow. I am debating either running some fans on the enclosure opening or just adding like a carbon fiber scoop to get more air in there.

    • @americanx8365
      @americanx8365  Год назад +1

      I do have another idea that I'm going to test. I spoke with a few people smarter with engines than I am. They think it's a fuel related issue when it gets hot (the fuel is becoming vapor before it even hits the carb). The fuel pump sits right next to the motor where all the heat builds up. I think I'm going to pull the pump out of the generator enclosure to get to out of the hot box and external mount it. Re hose it back in directly to the carb. I have internet again so I can follow up with whatever I do and if it fixes it. I have I long trip coming in 2 weeks so I will know quickly.

    • @BenCarscaddon
      @BenCarscaddon Год назад

      Thanks....that issue is currently my only hesitation. We love everything else about the unit. That's kind of a big deal though and as you mention a huge PIA when it's not working properly Wish they could figure out a fix for it...

  • @jasonsims734

    I've been eyeballing the same rig and getting out of a travel trailer. I was a little apprehensive on the 30amp with 2 AC units, any issues running both?

    • @americanx8365
      @americanx8365  Год назад +1

      No issues at all running both ACs. After fixing the plug wires with shielded wires in the engine, the only problem I have had is with the generator. You have to keep the perfect level of oil in it and keep the filter changed often, otherwise it will shut off when it's hot out.

    We just bought a 2022 Jayco Alante 29f. We are on a road trip from Alabama to Fort Worth, TX. Our issue is there is no hot water coming out of the shower head. We do have hot water coming out of our faucets.
    Also when do I turn on the Water Heater switch that is located outside the bathroom?
    Thank You,
    Art Tysen

    • @americanx8365
      @americanx8365  2 года назад +1

      I turn the switch on right after I set up camp and leave it on until we pack up. I have not seen anyone mention the hot water issue you are having when it works everywhere else. I know the hot water band when you turn the shower on is the 10 to 11 O clock position on your on/off dial. I have off this weekend so I will take a look and see if the hot water to the shower has its own shutoff.

    • @americanx8365

    Size of bunks, do u miss w&d? I read about the front end collitions on small and medium class A . What are your thoughts about it, if we may ask?

    • @americanx8365
      @americanx8365  3 года назад

      RV industry is not regulated like the automotive industry so front end crash ratings is pretty lack luster. That being said, it really does not concern me. All you can do is drive safely and take your time. Do not over react if you ever find yourself getting into a crash situation (attempt to avoid it). That usually ends up making the crash worse. I ride motorcycles which can end your life in any crash so I honestly do not concern myself with "what ifs". I can say being from the auto industry if RVs were designed like cars for crash ratings, the costs would skyrocket.

    I am looking at this model and thinking about purchasing it, with that said how is your gas mileage and also does it feel like it lacks power on hills? my wife loves the interior but i said no because it’s not diesel. but reconsidering based on my questions to your answer. thanks

    • @americanx8365
      @americanx8365  3 года назад +1

      I am pulling a toad everywhere I go just FYI so my answer is based on that. My gas mileage is pretty bad since I am leaving to go everywhere from Nashville TN so I have to drive through hills to get to most destinations. I am averaging just under 7 MPG with driving 75 MPH everywhere through the hills with the TOAD. I could probably make it better if I slowed down but I really do not care about MPG since I am a part timer and just want to get where I'm going as quickly as possible when I do take trips. I have taken a few fully loaded trips reaching max payload in the RV plus my toad. It does bog down some going through bigger hills. Going through the mountains in Chattanooga on I24 for example I was able to get up the hill maintaining 55MPH. It had to downshift 2 gears from cruising gear to do it. Is a diesel better? Absolutely. I just could not justify spending nearly double the cost being a part timer. I only took 1 trip without the TOAD. It did pretty good through the hills without that extra weight if I remember correctly.
