The winter and autumn in Sopot are pretty boring from the tourist perspective, but the city is the best place to live if one can afford it, even for someone like myself who prefer the larger cities, because Sopot is directly connected with the greater Tri-City, while having the cosy vibe and natural beauty which the larger cities are missing, thanks for sharing!

I had a cup of coffee at the coffee shop in the crooked house in Sopot several years ago, we were there in October on a rainy day and it was completely empty
I would love to see it in autum or winter when the trees are not as full! But it was so busy that day everywhere the pier the lighthouse everything

Liked the video very much, these coastal towns are my favourite in Poland but I haven't been there for ages. Are you going to visit Gdynia, too? If so, please go up the hills to see the port from the top, not just the commercial promenade. And if you still have time you should take a ferry/boat and go for a few hours to Jurata or Hel on the Hel peninsula. Or go by train, you will be able to see the sea on both sides of the track since the land is very narrow in some places. And pine trees everywhere. And long wide sandy beaches on both sides, the bay and the Baltic. End of August is the best time to be there because the school year starts on Sept, 1st, so the crowds are coming home these days and it will be quieter and cheaper. Enjoy!

What you witnessed was the first in the world 'queue fatigue'. I can assure you that Poles can write manuals about organizing queues including overnight watches, queue lists with morning checks and professional queue jumpers. This is all the song of the past but still there, you don't forget bad times easily.
I think it is just such a shock as everywhere was so busy I can’t fault Polish people I had the nicest time the people are amazing if I needed help I could walk up to anyone and ask! And I wouldn’t let any older person carry a case up or down the stairs to the platforms if I could help them! But there’s a lot of things I don’t record! I just try to be a nice person and I very much love Poland 🇵🇱
@@DanUnplanned I guess that I know what you mean. There is much more to the story of visiting these places that catches the eye. You are a good observer so you will see more than the average tourist. I think that 90% of experience in Poland is understanding the recent history and the context of the current situation. Interactions with people can be more interesting than architecture. @@andrewskorzewski845 the people are fantastic no one was threatening I was walk the streets at night and never for one second felt anything other than safe! A few times I asked for directions or help finding something and a small number of people couldn’t speak English (which is fine I can’t speak Polish I am not expecting anyone to speak my language) but still with a language barrier would offer help! Everything is just so nice and poles seem very very proud of there country and keep it as well kept as possible which is a beautiful thing!
@@DanUnplanned According to eurostat Poland is one of the safest country in Europe but the usual precautions are needed for smart travelers. There is one thing I missed in my last comment and I think is worth mentioning - this part of Europe will not be the same next year. It's probably hard for you to see on the first visit but the demographic and social changes are happening and are quite historical (so to speak).

I’m here right now and this place is possibly THE most beautiful resort town. GO and bring your kids or come for honeymoon. EOW! Bravo.

The window tax is NOT a legend, but a historical FACT. All the HANZA cities (Gdansk joined in 1358) look very much alike, and some more than the others Gdansk architects were often from the Netherlands/ Nederlander style. Antwerp, Hamburg, Bremen, Copenhagen look almost as beautiful as Gdansk (my earlier life city, w/Sopot !!!), and so does Riga/Latvia. Window tax was a real property tax in HANZA cities
A large house would need more windows In Gdansk the prime real estate was the perimeter of Dlugi Targ/the Long Market. Every VIP/merchant wanted to have a Dlugi Targ address/house. So many, that the max width of the house was set @ 3 windows. Only the Dwor Artusa/ Arthus Guildhouse/ is wider as the seat of the Hanza Guilds.
The English/Irish window tax was imposed several centuries later(18th- 19th C), when the HANZA cities were done for hundreds of yrs already.
