When you guys get to episode 75 you need to upload a gameplay video where someone plays every single card you review on this channel plus their choice of 25 lands. Lol
"This card is never going to be countered. Does that mean it's a bad card?" You heard it here first folks! CEDH Postcast calls Demonic Tutor and Mana Crypt a bad card.
I really like this card actually and I think yall overall summed it up right. Only thing I would argue is the concept that "only bad cards don't eat counters." If that were the case, Vampiric Tutor and every other Tutor would fall under the bad card rule. So, I actually do think of Quicken kind of as a Tutor in the sense that it will not eat a counter and is designed to set your next move up
@@Dannyrod4573 good point. D tutors and diabolics don’t necessarily eat counters.. but damn do my 1 mana tutors seem to get Mental Misteped over and over again!
When testing Malcolm/Vial Smash, mana was rarely an issue. Quicken was a card to help make Necro lines more consistent. There was some utility with cracking top deck tutors that fetched borne; other lines that matched up well were Ritual -> Quicken -> Beseech sacrificing Necro. This was relevant in one of my rounds. I think the card is fine in its role. When you have razor-thin lines in tournaments, you need to capitalize on windows open to you. So when I pay 30 life into Necro with 3 mana open, I need to make sure I'm converting the win for those 5 points. I can easily argue against it for something like Dirge, but as expected, I thought Glint-Horn lines were going to be difficult to pull off thanks to the presence of Nadu and some of the extra removal I saw people packing. I felt the Necro axis was a better plan to attack than the Glint-Horn plan for this tournament. Quicken has been highly contested as a card in my play group for years.
I don’t think the arguments to not countering quicken amount to much, considering the old adage “don’t counter the tutor, counter the thing they get.” Everyone would hold their counter for the sorcery you play after.
I'd like to hear your thoughts on Emperor of Bones, which recently came out of MH3. I don't play cEDH, but any card mana value of 2 and a wall of text is worth considering haha
Bruh, I saw cEDH podcast and I hit subscribe. Before I even got a minute in. I love hot takes from this community. I still don't think it's good though. If a card is only good when I have another card to make it good, it's not good. Also folds hard to Rule of Law effects.
Yeah, the only counterpoint is that it does replace itself, so it doesnt completely rely on another card. Also, rule of law effects have been less and less popular as of recent (in tournament play) thanks to round timers.
@@ThatsAGoodCard yea not gonna lie, found a relatively small cedh channel. It seems very professionally put together and perfect to listen to. Sent you to all my cedh friends as well
Holy guacamole this spell would be good if you could rip a creature at instant speed. 2 mana Copy spells would be broken, instant speed sheoldred in response to wheels... instant speed stax... it would be incredible!

Show and tell
Yeah the low sorcery count is a difinitive point. Does your evaluation of this card change if it said spell instead of sorcery?
