As a male , I had longer hair in my high school days.
I remember once visiting some governmental facility with my school and being denied entry to a male bathroom because a security guy or whatever though I was female.
I simply barged my way in and did my business, but even after that the man made a small scene to my school teacher who knew I was male...
Thats 1/10th of what real trans people pass through and it was horrible having an adult trying to get me out of a bathroom. A grown ass 40-years or so barging his way into a room with a half-nude child because a "pussy" would taint the holiness of the shitter.

I knew a trans boy who was adopted by a religious family and he was told by the daughter of that family he was going to hell, and they disowned him for "religious reasons". Because they didn't agree with his existence, he was forced out of his foster home, which had people who actually loved him, they forced him out of there, they paid for him and dragged him from his foster home, only to disown later and put him somewhere different, he looked so broken and detached from reality, his only comfort where his school friends, which he would soon be separated from because he had to move schools, and i wish i was there for him, but by the time we became friends, and exchanged gifts and really started to care for each other. Covid happened and i was stuck home permanently. And i haven't seen him since. I pray for his safety and he is able to be himself.
I'm trans mtf and my parents accept me but are afraid to expose me in public, thinking I'll leave a bad impression on them, so my mom calls me he around family, and forces me to wear "normal clothes". I hope i can get a job soon and start hrt, I'm 19 now, and I've been doing my best to feminize myself, lose weight and voice train, and I've done a great job, i feel very good about myself, but i can't be like this forever. I'm not part of the lgbt community, white, male, and a Christian/semi practicing Catholic to boot but I want to tell anyone who is lgbt that you aren't doing sinful things. Sin is when you hurt someone or yourself and in my world that's not sin. You are good just the way you are and that God made you just the way He intended. Just to let you know that we are all over the place, people who do respect you for who you are.❤❤❤🏳️‍🌈
Edit: I should elaborate further that sin is only valid where it is something that you do at your own free will and where one CHOOSES to do bad things. Being gay is something where you don’t really have a choice in the matter. As much as it hurts for people to think of me as less of a Christian for having this opinion, I at least feel confident in knowing that Christ commanded me to love and show kindness to those who are suffering both inside and out by others just for being different.

Hey, nonbinary kid here, I'm 14 and a lot of my friends are trans and they deal with a lot of these issues. I live in Arkansas, and I mainly hide my gender identity and just let people call me whatever gender they want, most people honestly can't even guess what my birth-gender is, and I would rather not call out people and insist on being called by my preferred gender identity, and that's how you get bullied and harassed.
Not a single person at my school knows I'm nonbinary. Not a single soul, only a few of my online friends know, and my family knows. Nonbinary kids and trans kids at my school are bullied and harassed and I feel awful for them, I would never want to go through the same thing, and I try to support them the best I can.
Glad to know things get better over time, I may share this story with some of my other trans and nonbinary friends

A struggle he deals with is it's very difficult for him to get his operations as the NHS keeps focusing on covid. I find it to be rediculously unfair but I understand they are prioritising safety. Whoever thought its a good idea to put a bunch of naked/changing highschoolers in a room together clearly is out of touch with how harsh high school bullying can be for anyone. I think there should be changing curtains/stalls in locker rooms and showers then so much of these concerns about privacy would literally become a non issue.
Edit: I also forgot to mention what an absolute asshole that mom is for blowing that whole situation out of proportion, like homie wasnt popping out his feminine parts in there or anything he just wanted to change with the rest of the guys. Tbh proves my last point in my original comment. Changing and shower spaces need more privacy for all people.

I only recently came out as a trans woman, and I can't help myself from expressing my jealously at the amount of acceptance the younger generation has today, however small it still may be.when I was in school, being trans wasn't even an option. Fuck, being gay was barely even acceptable.
There were 6 openly gay kids in my school, but that was their whole personality. I was raised by very conservative parents, and even coming out as base LGBT was hard. That earned me a punch in the face and years of emotional neglect. Only 5 years after I graduated college with a bachelor's degree did I find the confidence to come out to my partner, who accepted me instantly... but, I was disowned by a good chunk of my family. Words can't describe how difficult it is to just exist as someone who wants to be left the fuck alone when you're trans, and I have to give this man all the props in the world for being way more of a badass than I ever could've been. I have a friend who doesn't really know if he's trans yet, but basically he was assigned female at birth, but prefers male pronouns. He is everything to me, and I'll always support him. What really breaks my heart is seeing what he has to go through for being who he is, we're lucky that all of our classmates, literally everyone in our class is really amazing and respectful. We're friends with everyone, and also, our school might be religious but they're respectful, we even had a science class talking about sexuality and gender identity, which was also f*cking awesome (Science teachers are always the best). But not everyone is like that, he was harassed by some kids for preferring male pronouns, they were calling him a "she/her" while repeatedly saying he was a girl. That broke my heart and pissed the f*ck out of me, I can't stand to see him suffering that kind of thing. What makes me even more scared is that at one point I'll have to tell my parents about him, I haven't told them already because I'm afraid they'll prevent me from hanging out or even being his friend anymore... My parents are pretty much respectful of LGBTQ+ people when it comes to their sexuality, but on the other hand they believe trans people are sick and that everyone is born with the right gender. I've tried to talk to them a few times about how that doesn't make any sense and that trans people do exist and should be treated with respect, but they just don't listen to me and probably will never listen. Damn, I relate to the thing he said about either making it your whole personality/a big part of your personality or trying to be the "correct" kind og person that fits into society. On the internet I'm very open about this stuff as you can probably see by the pride flags on my pf, but when in my daily life I often unconsciously try to be someone that everyone is cool with (even though my mere existence makes that impossible) and try to pass... but due to fitting into neither the guy or girl category that's also kinda impossible. I'm really happy that these issues about transphobia are getting brought up more often, it makes me feel seen. Also really happy that the world has come pretty far in a short time... like 5 years ago I woulda panicked if I even remotly accidentally mentioned to any of my school peers that I was part of the lgbtq comunity but now I actually have many people who are there for me no matter what gender I am or isn't or who I like (and I'm incredibly thankfull to have people who are there for me and that I will also be there for) Anyway yeah, sorry for the rant, if anyone bothered to read this: firstly so sorry you read through all of that and secondly hope you have a good day :) no matter how hard it get's there will always be people who care about you. Its madness that you were even able to come out at 14. I saw a very close friend come out and be ostracised for it. They were bullied, outcasted and even teachers told her not to be herself. It all made me hide who I was. Like I knew I was trans. But the world around me never accepted it, it was either shut up and pretend to be normal or be attacked emotionally, verbally and physically every single day.
Now I'm 23 a university graduate and out and proud, because what I was told and saw as a kid was wrong and I'm happy to see it slowly change to be more accepting.
    So yeah, I second this.
It gets better just take it as it comes and things won't be this hard forever its just part of being human and that's okay.

I'm a trans guy who hasn't started their medical transition yet, but I can kinda pass if I don't speak and wear a binder. People will usually assume i'm either a femboy or a butch, but most judge me as soon as they lay eyes on me. I often get people staring me up and down only to be mad at me. I've had people come up to me as a dare to test my gender. I've had people come up to punch me in the face just because I don't fit their standard.
I've been locked inside bathrooms by classmates, I've been bullied infront of my class by my mentor and I've had people drop me as their friend because being in my proximity meant you were an outcast.
I've found some proper friends now, and the people in my current class aren't transphobic, but that doesn't mean I'm accepted fully. Being trans often means not really belonging with any group until you fit other people their standards. For example, the group often talks about the boys and the girls, but I don't get included in either of those groups. I don't judge them for not seeing me as a cis guy, that's not the goal either. But it's like you're never enough to fit in until you fall into the beauty and personality standards that others place upon you.

Or imagining a post op post test trans man waltzing up into the women's room. Like seriously imagine a bulky trans dude jacked muscles and a full on beard walking up to a women's room or a very obviously passing trans chick in the men's room. Seems like it makes everyone less uncomfortable to just let them go to the one that theyre transitioning to, like who cares. I do understand the privacy concern about the locker rooms though, but also why the hell arent locker rooms in 2022 more private anyway? Who the hell thought it was a good idea to make total strangers change in front of one another anyway? We all need more privacy. If they can build changing stalls in a Kohls or an Old Navy or any clothing/department store then they should also be able to build them in public school showers and locker rooms. Its time to invest in more privacy for everybody, lgbtq or not. Then so much of this shit that right wingers and feminist karens like to bitch about would become non issues and we could all get on with our lives.

It's a survival game where you make the best of what you have to work with. It's not fair, it's not pleasant, and the only way that the game ends is with death. You can accept it for what it is or fight against it, but at the end of the day the game is the game. And it's a game that you were never meant to win.

My secondary school is really accepting for lgbtq+ people, we have an lgbtq+ club, school therapists (that are good) and more I just can’t think of it. My school allows the children to have a say in what they may be changing and such and every now and then they let us do a survey about what we want come to the school and then they obviously read through it and decide between the teachers what they could do. Anyways, some student suggested the lgbtq+ club and the teachers helped to get it to start happening. We have posters around our school suggesting to join a club like that. We have many lgbtq+ people and a really diverse school and ALMOST everyone is extremely accepting of it all. We rarely have occasions of bullying because they’re always dealt with and mostly all reported. Our school tries their best to include everyone and not make anyone feel bad about anything, it’s amazing. But we still have to do homework.
