    I also think what upset Gojo a lot in this scene was the fact that Geto was no longer treating him like he was a human, like he had emotions and was a teenager. I always felt like Gojo valued Geto's friendship a lot because of the fact Geto treated him like a normal teenager with feelings instead of a weapon and a lot of his anger where feelings of betrayal and hurt that Geto was no longer treating him like that and all he talked about was Gojo's power, like there wasn't a human underneath. Kind of like "I thought you were different but now you're just seeing my power like everyone else and not me, the person who you are hurting"

      i think Geto said it to "burn all bridges" with the sorcerers' society and Gojo was his last bridge. this phrase was very important to Gojo though because it was the first time he really started to think about how he uses his powers, for what purposes, etc. (why are you the strongest, what are you doing with your strength). he used Geto as his moral compass and it was Geto who always needed a purpose to use his powers, Gojo was just going with the flow because he was supposed to as someone strong and special. so intentionally or not (i believe Geto always wanted Gojo to find his own purpose - that's why they debated about it), Geto pushed Gojo to finally find his own path - protecting the future generation.
      interestingly enough, there was a bonus chapter in the manga in which every character was asked who's Gojo to them. all students and teachers said different things (mostly how goofy he is) but everyone concluded with the word "he's the strongest" which ended with the panel of lonely Gojo and his shadow. but when Mimiko and Nanako asked Geto who's Gojo and if he really is the strongest he just said he was his best friend (the girls then repeated to Sukuna that Satoru Gojo is Master's Geto only best friend) and didn't say anything about him being the strongest. so for Geto, Gojo was still just Satoru even after the fallout.

    The JP VA of Gojo had an interview translated in which he talks about what he thinks of Gojo for this part for his impressions and he basically was saying given Gojo's upbringing as special child and given his ego, seems he didn't have the best insight on people's feelings before, like on a deeper level that was needed for Geto at that time.
    So when Geto said nothing was wrong when he asked him if something was wrong, he probably depended on him to be like he always was before to be forthcoming, so didn’t look into things further and focused on himself with his powers. That's why he was so shocked when he heard the news of Geto's act of killing the people in the village. It completely blindsided him.
    So a combination of factors with Gojo focused on himself with his powers, not necessarily being more attentive because he was more complacent in trusting in Geto to be forthcoming. As well as Geto likely wanting to withdraw from Gojo himself, because he felt more distant to Gojo as it relates to power and as he felt more isolated from him with solo missions.

      @raec5426 Год назад +9

      You are correct as far as the factor being both - both pulled away from each other. Gojo unintentionally being focused on his solo missions and improving his powers. Geto intentionally withdrawing from him with feeling less connected to Gojo since Gojo was the strongest alone without him. Geto still of course made his own decision though at the end of the day.

      @@mellowgib Gojo once asked geto if he's eating well because he's lost weight. We can see a decline in physical health but society as a whole doesn't understand we have a mental health bar. You only realise it once it breaks, before then you can address it. Gojo should have asked geto how he's mentally coping but never did.
      both gojo and geto are supposed to be strongest so admitting that you are suffering mentally is a big weakness and not what the strongest should be going through. Their own egos and societal norms didn't allow them to look at the trauma and talk about it. If they did Gojo would have realised geto needed a break

    Where were the adults?! The only time we see an adult JJ sorcerer talk to Geto about his conflicted feelings was with Yuki Tsukumo (the worst possible person he could have spoken with) in a flippant conversation with huge impact.
    Geto made his choice, but I think the larger failure lies with the incompetent leadership at the JJ academy. They were more focused on essentially training and operating missions with teenage (child) soldiers than their students’ well-being.
    I completely understand why Gojo hates the leaders and why, as an adult, he does his best to let his students be teenagers despite their hardships and responsibilities as JJ sorcerers.
    Gojo didn’t fail Geto, the entire JJ society did.

    Unfortunately, I think this is how a lot of young friendships end up breaking. I don’t think Gojo was being a bad friend on purpose, mainly because it had always been Geto who reminded him what being a “good” friend was. Like remember back in the very beginning, when he said “it’s not nice to pick on those weaker than you”?
    At the time of Geto’s breaking point, Gojo didn’t have the emotional maturity to be a good friend on his own - that’s part of what makes their break so tragic: this scene mirrors real life in that most kids don’t really learn those skills or life lessons until they lose someone, somehow.
    IDK, I think I just really feel for them both- I went through something similar with my brother years ago. Fortunately for us things are better now, but our relationship really has never been the same.

    Gojo wanted to be the strongest in order to protect those closer to them, amanai only died because gojo lost to toji, theres no arguement on that. So he focused so much into becoming stronger to be able to protect them that he wasn't able to hang out with his friends. like that scene where get shoko and gojo were testing limitless auto neutral, being able to do neutral limitless constantly and automatic depending on the item, he did that because he got stabbed by toji because he stopped his neutral limitless.
    but jujutsu high being jujutsu high, they gave gojo too many responsibilities and tasks that geto himself says, they barely spend time together. and shoko isn't allowed to do dangerous missions and studdied in jujutsu high to be a doctor.
    even if they were together in a few minutes gojo would be out of there because jujutsu high gives alot of missions to gojo who is the strongest.
    Geto was alone. Alone to think of the past alone to bear the disgusting taste of curses. Alone with his thoughts, he broke after his junior got killed because of a grade 2 turning into a grade 1 curse.
    Gojo's goal now is to make more strong people like him, mainly people who can surpass him like yuta who could copy curse techniques or the immortal guy in his domain. he's making a generation that could defeat his generation. and be able to defeat what he can't bring himself to kill.

  • @valeriyav2149
    @valeriyav2149 Год назад +17

    Gojo was also coping with the trauma in his own way which was getting stronger so nothing like that could have happened again. And, of course, the fact that the rulers of the school and jujutsu society separated all of them disregarding their mental state made everything worse. Gojo was getting the hardest missions one after another, cleaning up failed missions of other sorcerers, etc. Since he became the strongest, those old geezers have been using him as the shield and sword of jujutsu society. None of Geto's friends even had time to spend with him that year - Shoko was healing injured sorcerers all the time and Nanami just lost his partner, everyone was exhausted. And they all were so young too. The adults just failed all those kids.
    That's why none of them blamed each other for what happened - Geto never blamed Gojo for not being by his side at that time because he understood that the whole society burdened him more than anyone (i think that's why Geto didn't want to add to the burden), Gojo, after overcoming shock, understood why Geto did it and what lead to it, getting motivated to prevent it from happening with the next generation. Shoko, Nanami - none of them could bring themselves to judge Geto. Even Yaga changed his approach to choosing students with his test of motives, looking for less idealistic and more selfish/individualistic sorcerers (even though Yaga deserves to feel guilty - it was his job to look out for his students).

    No, what held him back from erasing his friend was that he still loved his friend. Frankly Geto became Geto because that is the choice he made. I do not believe speaking to Gojo or Gojo knowing what was happening was going to change anything. Gojo used Geto as his moral compass, what Geto said was always the right thing to do, if anything, being in the position of trauma that they BOTH had, it is a good thing that Gojo was not around Geto. He would of probably been able to convince Gojo to join him. I am always amused that people try to put the blame of peoples choices on to others. At the end of it all responsibility, it lies on the person making the choice.

      I think that we all know that Geto was indeed responsible for his own actions. After all, if someone commits a crime, his friends or family are not arrested but only him. However, I think this video is meant to expand the idea of "what-ifs'' scenarios. I personally believe that of course, Geto went on the wrong path because he wanted to but I also think Gojo simply wasn't equipped with emotional intelligence (at least at this point in time because he's a teen) to help him. But I agree that it's in no way shape or form Gojo's fault.

  • @dajtoad1
    @dajtoad1 Год назад +12

    I think Gojo never quite realised that, unlike himself, Geto suffers from his cursed technique. So what for Gojo is kind of fun is visceral unpleasantness for Geto. So it's more important for Geto to have a reason for his actions. For Gojo, it's enough for him to be guided by his friend - literally nothing touches him.
    When they were give or take as strong as each other, it probably didn't bother Geto as much, but once Gojo levelled up, I think he began to develop some kind of feelings of inadequacy, or maybe jealousy, to add to his depression.
    That expression of complete contentment on Geto's face once he decides to reverse his morals is so sad. From depression and agony to peace, all from the decision to become a mass murderer.

    Satoru and Yaga-sensei were both too busy being constantly sent on missions to help Suguru. The beginnings of the season and of episode 5 said that there were major upticks in curse activities that year, which is why they had to split Suguru and Satoru up to take care of it. They even sent a Grade 2 sorcerer, who was a second year at that, after a Grade 1 local deity. Plus, Satoru was dealing with his own trauma after that fiasco, what with his best friend almost dying, and his new friend actually getting killed, not to mention that it was damn near a miracle that he didn’t die himself. I really don’t think anyone is at fault for Suguru. It’s just a string of bad events one after another, leading up to a moment that solidified Suguru’s worst fears and suspicions that non-sorcerers were the biggest threat to sorcerers.

      THANK YOU. I always feel that people demonize gojo and shift the blame to him when it comes to geto's radicalization. They forget that gojo is also extremely traumatized, which is essentially why he has limitless up 24/7. It's partly a response to trauma. Just because he didn't go off the deep end and seems surface level happy doesn't mean that he's deeply hurt from everything that happened.

    Gojo was maxing put his stats so that no one else had to die. He thought if he was strong enough, he could save everyone. It was only when Geto went down this path did Gojo understand that he cannot save everyone on his own, and that he would have to change Jujutsu society in order to enact any real change. When both were pushed to their limits, Gojo evolved into a more “enlightened” person and Geto succumbed to worst impulses.

    Truth be told it doesn't matter. The series of events leading up to Getos breaking point was inevitable. Change will always come from death. From those who understand the sorrow of it and need help rising from it, from people who show them there is still a reason to enjoy life and for those who only get motivated by it seeing only more reason to go further in life. Death shows the true nature of people and when they both saw death, Geto questioned their existence to the point of asking its meaning but Gojo who gained more power, even getting high on it and only saw the potential in living since he had more to experience. This is actually shown by him fighting with Toji no to save Riko but to show off his power to finish the fight. This act shows his true persona, knowing he is above everything even talking as if he is god. But if we look at it from the perspective of a friend, Gojo had the responsibility of knowing there is more to life then pain and suffering but never told Geto, in fact he kept it to himself, showing people he was beyond them in every way and in turn driving Geto to find meaning to life by himself, walking on his dark path alone and only when he was swallowed by darkness did Gojo see him, but it was too late. His soul was gone, taken by the darkness. So yes, Gojo was responsible, its actually simple if you put it in terms we all know, do yall remember what Uncle Ben said when he was near death, "With great power...comes great responsibility". Knowing this, was Gojo responsible? Did he act for others or did he only enjoy his power. Think of the first episode of JJK, when we saw Gojo arrive just before Megumi almost summoned Mahoraga coz he was about to fight Yuji, us knowing Gojo can basically teleport shows how irresponsible and arrogant he is for being late, this is not how a true friend or a responsible person with power acts, buying things while peoples lives are on the line shows how much he cares for those lives. So Gojo missed seeing Geto suffer because he justifies that Geto knows things are bad so why do them, instead of showing him how people are good. Remember Gojo wanted to kill the people clapping, but Geto was still in the light at that point, knowing things still need to be in order and they are NOT gods to decide who lives in dies. But Gojo saying in his state he basically feels nothing justifying killing because he doesnt feel anything so it wont matter. Imagine if spiderman just killed every villain, if he killed every minion he saw, see how his power is used compared to Gojo, you can even use Superman as a better example, he can basically be a God among men but he uses his power with care. We are soo engrossed in Gojos power and charisma what we forget what being human is, what its like to suffer and Geto shows us what we are, why we need help from people who can help but instead gives us words instead of actions. Find true friends, real people who know your pain and will pull you out of the darkness to save you.

    There are so many reasons for why they fell apart but to me there are 3 main ones: lack of communication (on both ends), their society pushing them to their limits, and ultimately different directions of personal growth.
    For Gojo, I can see why it's easy to see him as a bad friend for focusing on his power stats rather than checking in on Geto once in a while. But at the same time, it was also Geto's responsibility to reach out and seek help when he recognized he was in a dark place. I don't think anyone could have understood him better than Gojo. And while I don't think Gojo would be the BEST therapist, it helps to have someone who relates to what you're going through. Which brings me to my other point on their society. The jujutsu world is very much a "get over it" society, which is understandable since your comrades are expected to die at any moment, but that definitely doesn't do wonders on your mental health when you're young and risking your life for people who don't know you exist. Or worse, people who KNOW you exist, but seek out and celebrate your downfall.
    The last and biggest factor is just Gojo and Geto naturally growing up and unfortunately, apart. They coped with their trauma differently, their priorities changed, they chose diverging directions, and as a result, their connection waned. They became nearly unrecognizable to each other. The situation between them is much like us drifting away from the friends we made when we were young and thought would stay with us forever, life just gets in the way and that initial friendship devolves, from both circumstances and personal choice.

    This is a fascinating point of view and I honestly never even thought about it before. Though I do have a few things to add in addition to what you said. The thing is, a lot of these sorcerers you may notice are actually uncaring. They don't sympathise let alone empathise with people. The only nice ones I can think of are probably Nanami and Utahime from the grown-ups and of course our main trio in the youngsters. The rest are all pretty uncaring and self-absorbed like Gojo, Mei Mei etc. They may be protecting people and they do care but very little. Even their friend Shoko asked just once if Geto was ok and called it a day when he showed up later as a criminal, she couldn't care less other than just call Gojo (thought to be fair, it could also be akin to police man discipline that she had to stay calm and call for backup). Even though we know that Gojo was upset about Riko's death, he got over it the next minute. He even said "I'm sorry Amanai, I'm not angry on your behalf" when he fought with Toji. Both things are the truth. He cared, but little. Compared to Geto to went into full depression and existential dread over what happened. It really wouldn't have killed his friends to care more about him, it's kinda sad. But it's also SO realistic in the real world.
    Secondly, you may notice that Gojo does have his heart in the right place, he's talkative and upbeat but he's actually not persuasive. He lacks the ability to convince others about his views. Remember in episode 1 he talked to Yuji about his whole possession in a nonchalant fashion... dude I get that's your shtick but it's only so much until people hate you. Megumi resented his lack of tact as well not to mention the higher-ups... but that's a different kettle of fish. The point I'm trying to make is that the argument Gojo presented Geto within the final argument scene was a pretty lame one... dude why are you telling him what he's doing is impossible? Shouldn't you be convincing him not to do something so cruel and unethical? Though I guess we can't blame him since Geto had already killed scores of people before this scene so nothing could be salvaged.

      Uhhh I don't understand this take lol. Let's be real here, geto's ideology was extremely flawed and weak to begin with. Even gojo calls him out on it, because geto's mentality was always built on this fragile and dangerous hierarchy of "normal people are weak, we need to protect them" and on a superficial level, that sounds noble and all, but is condescending as hell. His idealogy as an adult actually hasn't shifted there much--the only thing that's really changed is which group of people he's choosing to protect. Gojo was also extremely traumatized and also still a teenager at that point...I never understood the notion of putting the responsibility on other people, let alone children, to take care of another person's mental health. I would agree with you if you said that it's really the jujutsu system that failed geto, but let's face it, Geto also made his choices and denying that is infantalizing the character. He had full agency in his actions and while we can both agree that he was the victim, he's also a mass terrorist/murderer. They're not mutually exclusive.

For gojo he was saying is boring to save human geto say is the work of the sorcerer to help the weak and after toji died the opinion just switched up so fast kinda sad to see that....

    I think the major problem from this video. The mistake you made is that I doubt Gojo ever knew what bsorbing cursed spirits felt like to him.

    I agree with you, But i wouldn't put all the blame on gojo as he couldn't have noticed bcs he was always away and so was geto and shoko was busy being the only healer/studying to be a doctor it was a busy time for all of them and geto was left alone with his thoughts to think back to what happened and question his reasoning. Unlike gojo who was getting stronger geto was pretty much giving up as he saw no reason to doing this and yukis convo w him truly made him realize this. His last push was Haibaras death that's when we finally lost him

    It's hard to blame Gojo just due to his personality type. He was barely able to keep himself on the straight path, constantly needing help from others; matched with his natural self-centered ego granted by being hailed as a god among men since his birth, it becomes unlikely he'd notice and try to intervene with Geto's internal strife. He could barely recognize his own internal strife at this point.
    Somewhat like a stressed parent that is barely holding on, yet still gets heckled and stressed by their child about irrelevant things, while the child shows no recognition whatsoever for the stresses of the parent. The child simply isn't developed enough, and Gojo clearly isn't either.
    But this is to some extent Gojo's fault too, for Gojo isn't a child. He's a whole adult at this point, out there saving the world and being looked up to by the local community. But it seems it took Geto going crazy, and the adoption of a child, for Gojo to truly understand.

      Well Gojo and Geto were still both teenagers at that time, not adults.

    • @RealDiaFr

      @@raec5426 Yes legally he was a teenager, but that's not what I was trying to express by saying a whole adult. Legal definitions of adult are just lines that must be drawn in the sand. It's not like the moment you turn 18 or 21 you go through a metamorphosis where your suddenly an adult now. There are 25 year old's that are incapable of taking on any form of responsibility at all. Gojo is 17 yet literally carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders; while being the target of envy and pride for countless adults.
      Someone in his position can easily be judged for not having enough empathy to notice his own 'Best Friend' (His own words), falling apart due to internal strife. Most teenagers younger than 17 are fully capable of this. I know I was.

      @diatsus2861 A point of the narrative though also is about the high school sorcerers are kinda be exploited by the system in a way though to be put in such dangerous situations. Gojo's character also about protecting the youth because of the situation with Geto (and Riko). So that aspect is a factor into the narrative as well enough for the disguishment with the cast of the present time as teens. People just mentioning Gojo and Geto here, but the system also plays into a factor in students being overworked and the burden they have for that as well (not shown checking the mental health aspects for the work).

    • @RealDiaFr
      @RealDiaFr Год назад

      @@raec5426 Very true. At least for Geto, I guess technically while Gojo is busy; he isn't exhausted or overworked physically, due to being able to constantly refresh his brain with reverse curse technique, resulting in never being truly "stressed". At least not physically.

    • @raec5426
      @raec5426 Год назад +1

      @diatsus2861 I mean Gojo doesn't necessarily fixate on it personally, but a lot of responsibility to be "the strongest" and it's lonely at the top. Even he realized later just physical strength isn't always enough and we see later his mental weakness related to Geto.

    Gojo is his best friend, not his fucking wife!!!
    C'mon, he already have enough responsabilities to take care of, and live with the curse that is being the strongest and all, and y'all want to put all the fault of Geto being a brat on him???
    Geto was responsible for dealing with this pressure, just like Gojo with his own too, and everybody else in jujutsu community.
    Now, because Geto is a pussy, Gojo is a bad friend? C'mon! He was perfect dealing with Geto all the time. Maybe he didn't braid his hair or something, but he tried his best, and always cared about him.

      It is Geto (the real one) up until the Jujutsu Kaisen 0 movie. It is his ideology to erase all the non-sorcerer to prevent the birth of curse spirits.
      The one that you are referring (Geto with stitched head) has a total different agenda.
