I think Luna makes sense only if you have an Apollo of some sword. It is nice for it not to be restrictive on its use, but as far as I can see the real advantage of Luna against other DAWs is that you get direct integration with the Unison technology. I really like also how it integrates with different UA based processes e.g. A special slot for Tapes, but again all these features are great if you are an Apollo user, if you aren't then it doesn't bring much more value than other DAWs that are more mature by this point. I personally think Luna is awesome, but it is kind of a niche product.
In Silicon Valley advanced programming tech is common and we lead the world in tech. So a smooth transition into a new DAW is seamless. Congrats to UA and team keep up the good work. California Software is compatible with other platforms and DAW's.
I am trying to install Luna 1.4 , but can't install. Still asking for UAD interface.... don't know why... I have tried to install on Catalina, Monterey and Ventura.. Someone told me that I must be an Apollo owner to register... After that I can use Luna Natively... Is it called Native version ?
@@ParadiseSound so u have to have a registered Apollo device to use Luna now even though it is native. Basically I don’t own an Apollo and never have so it’s stating no Apollo interface registered
Sorry for the misunderstanding Nicholas yes as of now you still need to be an Apollo OWNER to use LUNA. You just don’t need to have it connected anymore. LUNA is now capable of running without it however because LUNA comes free with the Apollo they haven’t released it as a standalone app for those who do not own an Apollo. I believe they will soon however but it is sure to cost something.
@@ParadiseSound thanks so much for clearing that up. I’m looking for an alternative to protools so badly and nothing else has been working for me. Would be willing to pay for it if need be. Let’s hope it happens soon now that plugins have gone native
Yesssss. Now I can use Antelope in luna. Luna + Antelope BOOOOM!!!
Awesome thanks for tuning in Alain!

Mixing on the fly, & being able to transfer vocal chain ( or whatever) to another project is an option I have been waiting for. Subscribed !
Woah! This is awesome. Especially when I’m about to sit on a plane for 15 hours.
IMPORT SETTINGS!!!! I just got up and danced! YESSS!
This is great news
Auto switching between dsp and native is great . Glad UA did this.
Fantastic video - thanks
Very clean way to write a new DAW, test it add features and make sure it works right !
More plugins will be coming !

Thanks for the run-through! I believe I read that the new Luna version allows us to ‘bridge with Protools’. What does that mean?
Hi Christian. Happy Resurrection Day! Question for you: How do I fade a midi track in Luna?
