Elvis did a great job with this song. I wonder, if you compare between Williams' and Presley's version, they sound similar. Maybe Presley took his ideas from him, since Elvis started doing that song beginning with in August 1972.
You are 100 % correct. Elvis put any and all other versions to shame. If you question this, just research who sold more copies of it. or which version gets more you tube views. This isn't a debatable point.

I like Elvis’s version better but I like Andy’s version of Solitaire better than Elvis’s. Each seemed to have their own niche’s were they especially shined.
