  • Root stem cuttings in a week using this fastest method of rooting plant cuttings using hydroponics principle. This simple DIY hydroponic plant cloner really works and can grow plants 4 times faster. This can be applied to stem in plants or can be used in hydroponic farm at home to boost plant growth and yields.
In Today’s episode, we will build a simple cheap DIY 2-in-1 soil-less plant cloner device cum a simple yet effective hydroponic system to grow your plants or propagate your plant branch cuttings with a high success rate and the scientific reason behind this technique. This is really fast when compared to conventional method of growing a cutting in soil, which usually takes 4 to 6 weeks’ time. You won’t need a rooting hormone in this setup. We also show you some hacks to induce faster rooting in this episode and also discuss when to use various nutrient solutions of hydroponic farming. This method uses the nutrient film technique of hydroponics types.
This Hydroponic two in one plant cloner can be a very nice school project for kids and instil an interest in them in gardening.
First of all, you need at least a 20 litre or a 5 gallon plastic bucket with a lid. The cheapest solution to this is to use a 5 gallon empty paint bucket which is easily available from any junk store or perhaps from your store room. This is plastic waste recycling like how we recycle used plastic bottles in our videos.

Have to say I've tried them all. A clone dome with pods does just as good minuse the having to spray them with water every day which adds time to the project. But with pods if a root sticking out breaks when transplanting no biggy as many roots are still in the pods ready to come out. If you break or rip off roots doing this bucket setup the clone might not survive the transplanting when soil is packed down around it.
The best imo is cups.. try a clear solo cup with a good perlite soil mix filled up with soil soaked in very very light nute water. Then drip it out by tipping it till no more drips come out so it's not to soaked. Dip clones in cloneX put in soil cover with a sandwich bag and clip or tie for 10-14days or until you see roots then uncover. I have had roots running all around the cups all the way to the bottom tons of them in 14 days or less compared to just those few little strings you see in methods like the bucket system here. plus they are then already in soil. Can just open them and feed them till its time to transplant causing less transplant shock. Pop holes in the cups once rooted for air flow and or drainage. Best method ever. It's kinda like a clone dome but they each get thier own dome meaning if for some reason one clone was infected with a mold spore or bugs it won't infect the rest of the clones as it would in a traditional clone dome where you have many clones in the same dome.

Oooh! I was seeing your end clip of the DWC cloner in the other video and I can tell you from experience that you shouldn't have the stems submerged, they should be above the water line and the airstone you have is insufficient. The bubbling action keeps the stalk wet and it being in the air above the water provides the oxygen needed. If you experiment using the suggestions I mention you'll find that the rooting time is about the same as the sprayer method, maybe even faster. Then again I've been rooting in soil with the same time frames as any other method. Temps & humidity are what matters most when rooting. Great vid I love the thorough explanation!

I made a cloner similar to this and did a test. At the same time I did some in rockwool and rapid rooters. After 5 days my hydroponic cloner clones were all showing roots. After 10 days they were ready to transplant and loaded with long roots. Over a week faster using the cloner. Took 3 weeks to get the same roots in rapid rooters as i got from the hydroponic cloner in 10 days.

Interesting considering I have had exactly the opposite results between the "cloner" and rapid rooter cubes. Rapid rooter cubes with a heat mat under it and in an enclosed container (I made my own for $10) with a 1/2" gap between top and bottom and it works beautifully, rapid rooter roots all out of the cube in a week to week and a half all ready for transplant. The cloner.. forget it, even with a heat pad under it, over two weeks and no roots. I now have a cloner for sale I will not use again. Waste of time for me.
