Methylfolate may make someone more depressed especially if they are undermethylators of neurotranssmiters because folate increase neutrotransmiters transporters production which lead to lower levels of those neurotranssmiters in the brain and because of that fact people who are undermethylators will see improvement at start but later it will get worse and in those cases i would reccomend much more protein in your diet. Remember that if you have no idea what you are doing then dont try to mega dose vitamins/nutrients because you may get more harm than benefits, its always better to experiment with your diet and see how you feel.

Great video. I have homozygous c677t mthfr mutation. So mu mthfr functions at 25-30%. Im gonna start taking methylfolate, methl b12 and p5p. Ive had depression, anxiety, sleep problems all my life. B12 has always given me crazy amounts of energy. But im gonna take it in combination with methylfolate and p5p.

@@swintegrative I seem to not respond to well to b12. It gives me a lot of energy and messes with my sleep. I think I have the reaction because my body is not used to high levels of b12. I've read that this happens to people with these mutations. Have you seen this?

I had severe depression for 5 months, trying 4 different antidepressants. They did not work. One week on methyl folate and methyl cobalamin and the depression was gone in five days.

What if you cannot tolerate methylfolate?

@@BeigeRot Yes. Folic acid works better for me. You have the same?

@zuma5443 Well, I have the MTHFR gene, so I can't take folic acid. I am trying to get my methyl B12 up so I can handle the methylfolate. Hbu??

@@BeigeRot Hi, thanks for sharing. I asume that all the 'methyl' forms are problematic but methylfolate the most. So I took glycine in the form of magnesium glycinate and that was a huge game changer. Magnesium glycinate helped me a lot with depr. and anxiety, thank God. I have learned that people suffering from depression and anxiety already have low glycine and will have issues with the methylation of methylfolate. This is because methylfolate act as the off-switch for the glycine buffer system. So the logic I took is to buffer my glycine system first and then take a low dose methylfolate in a b-complex or a multi vitamin. I still can't risk taking high dose methylfolate alone. Are you seeing a better result now with b12?
