As you picked up the Scottish pottery the song in the background is ‘In a Big Country’ by the Scottish folk/rock band Big Country 😊 I’m in Scotland & love your content 💜 thank you 🙏🏴
I noticed that too. Lol. I actually have the original CD from back in the 90s. Their guitar work is phenomenal.
I was just about to comment that too! I'm in the U.S. and I LOVE Big Country! It's wonderful to see other fans here!
Flash back to 1983. Loved the band, love the song In A Big Country.
🏴🦄 I'll just ditto all of the above, I thought you couldn't have worked that timing better! Greetings from Scotland 🦄 🏴
@@mairistrathie6988 It's actually Stuart Adamson's birthday today too. Amazing talent gone far, far too soon. 💔
The salle a manger plaque at the end is a ceramic door plaque. It is for the dining room. Salle a manger is french for dining room.
The little plaque with “Salle a Manger” literally means salon to eat, or dining room. 😊
I was going to say that too - it means ‘dining room’.
I liked your comment because I was searching to see if someone else had translated that for her. 😊
@@brendamaun5455 I think a lot of people have done the translation for her!
A Scottish song " In A Big Country " playing while you found Scottish pottery......
The GW gods were smiling at me yesterday. I collect anything Lenox Poppy's on Blue. I found three wine/water goblets in that pattern. SCORE! I went back a few hours later to see if they had any put out any more. They did not. However I did stumble upon my 1st GLASSYBABY! ($2.99) DOUBLE SCORE!!!!!!! It is a lovely seafoam color and will be staying with me in my personal collection.
The other thing ‘made in Scotland’ is the band singing the first song . The guys in Big Country are an 80s band from a small town near where I grew up. Great to hear them on this video , so many miles
From home!
I have always loved that song ☺️
So many people noticing that! Warms my heart since I've always loved them!
Totally one of my most favorite songs!
One of my favourite songs ever, it's a classic. Greetings from Aberdeen in Scotland ❤
I had a hard time concentrating on the video because I immediately started to sing along to Big Country! Lol that was a fantastic thing to happen
I love individual pretty plates. I use them as cookie plates, pastries, and snack plates. I have a small stack in my cupboard.
I agree! Having full sets can be cumbersome and boring, imo. But then, I live alone and don't often entertain.🐅
That’s such a good idea! I’m gonna start a little ‘pretty plate’ collection. ☺️✨
My Mom LOVES little pretty plates so whenever I find an old pretty one I pick it up for her and she has collected some really pretty ones over the years.
I do the same with small bowls....it's more interesting with variety!
I love that !
That black carving at 0:55, which looks like a "tiki" of some sort, was made of beautiful, chatoyant obsidian!
Some many things I wanted to reach through the screen and buy myself
I find myself wanting to do that or say Wait go back !
The black figuring is Obsidian, go back and get it if yo can.
I love the tile pictures you picked up. I think they are of Amadeo Modigliani's artwork? Can't wait to see what you get for them.
Love your videos, watch every day from Warwickshire UK 😊
Salle a mangero...French meaning dining room. The item is a door sign.
The black stone is Silver Sheen Obsidian, a type of volcanic glass. A carving that size is worth at least 100.
not on Ebay
That little obsidian dude, may have been gold sheen or silver sheen obsidian, but either way he was worth probably between $100-$200
That is selling prices, not sold comps. But a solid $50 for sure! I old a small one on FBMP for $30.
The plate is from a company called Johann Seltmann from the German town of Vohenstrauß. They went out of business in the 90s, as did many German porcelain manufacturers. The plate is probably from the 50s. They did not put "Qualitäts-Porzellan" on it before that time. We call this type of plate "Stollenplatte". Stollen is the famous German Christmas cake you have certainly heard about. Another, more famous, porcelain manufacturer is "Seltmann Weiden", which was founded by the brother of Johann. They are still in existence today.
Great information Susi!! Thanks for sharing!
Wow! Thank you so much!
I believe the label on the coffee house bottles from Portugal said "Liqueur".
That $17 Toleware tray goes for $350- $450 here in TX.
The Fancy tray would be so pretty with perfume bottles
I believe the turtle and little dude with camera are made from clay from a Native American tribe. We bought some when in Cherokee NC and they make them from the clay in the surrounding area and put them in molds like ceramics. They might have gotten soaked in water that’s why they look rough. My turtle did that when I tried leaving it outside.
I have an egg plate from Buchan, Portobello, Thistle, from Scotland, same pattern as you have there. It's adorable.
Sale a manger = dining room ( room to eat)
God bless you and your family. You are in my prayers.
I know you love Italian things, but you always seem to pass up the beautiful, gold gilded Florentine boxes. They sell really well for me. $35 on average
Those delicately painted thistle dishes were lovely
0:51 looks ( from here ) like a carved obsidian , a shade of "sheen " obsidian. nice piece. should feel and weigh like glass as it is just volcanic glass. heavy , cold, doesn't melt ect. ✌
Those salt and pepper shakers could be cats but they also resemble the flat owl face so someone who collects owls may get excited about them as well 😊
I love the artichokes x
Love the artichokes!! I like a large bowl full of them as a centerpiece
I think that the "doll" with no hair actually is a marionette, perhaps Italian...with that style costume, I think that the marionette may be a character from an opera.
I know it has been a few years since you posted on your other You tube Relic Recoverist but would be great to see you do the yard of your new house. I miss your channel but love this one too.
I periodically watch the vids on her other channel. I was just thinking s couple of days ago that she should post something again. Your posted idea is an awesome suggestion!!
I love metal detecting ❤
I bought a platter and pasta bowl in that green rooster pattern in Orvieto, Italy in 1992 and hand carried them on to Greece and then back home to the US - glad they made it, they seem to have appreciated quite a bit in value.
Maybe I missed it, but you have not been to Finders Keepers in a while. There are no Finders Keepers where I live, so I always enjoy seeing what they have on display.
I loved the milk glass egg platter in the shape of a chicken.
Shakers are cute. Looks like owls
That plaque says Salle a Manger - or dining room (literally "Room to Eat"
Really fun video. I appreciate the time you put in to make these videos for us. I know it takes time to go down the isles but you are one of the few that does that for us . Keep up the hunt. ❤❤
Love the wooden box.
I haven't gone back and watched, but I think you may have missed a pedestal candle holder that matched the Scottish things.
I thought so too
The Italian rectangle plate with the rooster, I had sold a mini pitcher with a chip on it for 25. I believe it’s Deruta
the plaque says dinning room in French vintage potters from moustiers
I love the "zoomed in ' 😀
I loved how you found the wee Scottish bits when Big Country, a Scottish band were playing. Mega waves from Scotland.
The statuette you picked and left is made of black obsidian from Peru
My great grandmother used to have those red crab dishes.... she lived in MD (I am now in GA) I wish you would have grabbed those, I would be a buyer lol
Hi Jocelyn!!❤️ loved the weirdo doll you picked up and the green platter you didn’t pick up!!
We actually lived and grew up 8 miles from Castroville, Ca. The artichoke Captol of the world. We always enjoy an ocean mist Artichoke.
I like mine from the food courts in Rome...fried! When I want to impress I buy some to clean and prepare a special appetizer.
@@cathymyers2473 I'm not far away
I grew up in Castroville, CA by Pezzini farms off hwy 1. It actually isn't the artichoke capital of the world, France and Italy produce far more however cute motto 😊
@@spiritranger9202 I just purchased some because I need the practice of preparing.
I always enjoy your videos. Although I'm not interested in doing re-sale, your videos have helped me to be a smarter shopper.
The basket @ 42 seconds may be a Noritake piece. They hand painted lusterware can do well. I'd turn it over.
That's a Blenko sunflower holder, I believe!
Well, on the bright side, at the beginning when you were zoomed in, I could see the shelves really well. 😂 I sometimes wish I could zoom in on something. This time you did it for me. 😂
I was going to make the same comment. 😉 It was so much easier for me to see the items.
Ahhh. My daily dose. I love shopping at Goodwill with you. Such fun!!! 😃
Ironically, the thistle on the Scottish pottery is related to the artichoke. So it's a theme! And now I'm craving artichokes....😊
I always watch with envy. My goodwills suck.
The white ceramic animal with the hat that you pulled out of the bin is a Tenuki, which is an animal related to the racoon. It is known for its very large testicles and is also in Japanese mythology as a mischievous shapeshifter, who enjoys a ggod time, but is also a bit of a derp. He's a very popular figure in Japan, and the mythological version also sometimes uses his testicles as a drum. 😅
Vacation, All I Ever Wanted..Vacation, Had To Get Away...and some killer finds
Thanks for the video. Glad you found the broken handle in time on the big Vase. Anyway, enjoy your video and I’ll be waiting on your next one.
Did she though?
You found some cool stuff! 😁
“Salle à manger” is French for dining room
Some black ónix Mexican figures can go between 30dls up to a 100dls. Depending on the size. The one you looked at looked big.
My mouth dropped when you picked up the Buchan Thistleware…I am interested (and I would’ve have bought the chipped creamer)…Love this haul!…
I have one of those Made in Scotland pitchers that I got for about $1 at a garage sale. I was ready to donate it when I looked at the bottom! I'm keeping it! Mine is perfect.
2:04 Shakers - Maybe owls?
7:58 You are correct! The globe on the right, w/ the Christmas tree, is the globe for a large candle holder. I have one exactly like it. My base is gold in color and weighted. I've had it since 1989. I used to have a pair but one was broken many years ago.
Definitely owls!😊
I loved the milk glass chicken deviled egg holder! I was surprised you didn’t mention it. Those “anatomically correct” things in the bin were vintage drink mugs….straws go in there!
Love the artichokes and there’s two of them! Beautiful Art Deco tray!
That deco tray is gorgeous. Those cool pictures with tiles and bamboo are definitely booth worth.
And the pottery is Buchan I think, made near Edinburgh . Very nice!
On my way in two days to GB. We will be visiting Edinburg, I’ll have to look for this pottery.
Yep! Those are indeed artichokes and they are delicious! 1 of our favorite vegetables!
I have the coffee house decanter too. I had to buy it, just super cool
Omg J. I was so excited because I picked up 8 pieces of the Scottish ceramics. I was literally yelling at the screen “ pick it up PLEASE pick it up” lol I did something right😂😂BTW your children are just beautiful ♥️
Love this...I could see more details of everything really well
Thanks love seeing your finds!!
Love the art deco and dk green trays
I don't like artichokes but Iiked the candle holders. They would look great on a tha thanksgiving table and would look even more awesome on that art deco tray, that was pretty. And the big vase with the broken handle, I would buy it anyway it was beautiful. I'd just turn the broken handle towards the wall. Thanks Jocelyn, fun as always 💗
You should of gotten that black onyx sculpture. I went to a gem show and that would of been very expensive!
Yes! It looks like fire obsidian...
I was surprised she took the carved stone turtles and not the black onyx (or... obsidian?)!
19:00 that’s a Tanuki! Japanese raccoon who is a shape shifter and god of mischief. Tanuki bear in Mario bros game is based off him
Thank you fot another interesting adventure! My summary - you ROCK! ❤
Can’t wait to see that art deco tray listed. Please let us know when it’s available and on what platform! 😊
8:48 Patrick Street needs to have a plates sale. I am surprised the racks have not collapsed under the weight of all that china.
Those salt and peppers could work on a Tiki bar.
The small plaque that had the French Salle a manger on it---it means dining room. La cuisine means kitchen.
Sometimes the swan, geese duck wood carved decoys are made of one piece of wood and other times the neck/head is a separate piece then glued together and sanded down. I couldn’t tell if that is what you we’re seeing and calling damage or if the swan was actually damaged
I believe the striped decanters are antique. I remember my grandparents having them in the '60's. They had alcohol in them. There is a small single shot one also.
❤ so happy to relax and watch your videos.
Aww and your family are beautiful
17:35 It looked like Dorothy Thorp Lucite.
I’m so surprised you didn’t grab the little Deruta tray by the broken milk glass.
She passes a lot of good things up!
Maybe you can position that broken vase somewhere at home with some peacock feathers or shrubbery of some sort? 🤷♀️ love the videos and all the knowledge you pass on 🤯👌♥️
The Rooster butter dish (made in Italy) is from Grazia Deruta. Porcelain. Very expensive.
I LOVE THAT LITTLE TRAY.....❤
the green gold plate is from germany, made in the mids 40. it is absolutly stunning. here in germany you can‘t sell these pieces for a good price, only at fleamarkets for under €10, it‘s such a shame. It would be nice to sell to america, but the shipping costs break it down. love your organized chaos ! greatings from bavaria ( where this place comes from)
You are right, but you have to bear in mind that for us here, especially in Bavaria, porcelain plates are much more common. We had so many companies here! I doubt this plate is from the 40s. A pre-war plate would not have survived in such a good condition. After 1945, they did not produce such fancy plates. Mid 50s is my guess. When the Wirtschaftswunder started, they were able to sell these more elaborate designs and in the beginning, they used older designs, like Art Deco.
yes , i think you are right. many patterns in the 50s were copies of art deco pieces.
They definitely used the crown, "Bavaria" and "Qualitäts-Porzellan" after 1945. I looked it up in a book (Deutsche Porzellanmarken von 1708 bis heute, Marietta Klingenbrunn). 😉🤓
@@susischmid8599 yes, i too 😅😅
@@kk-ko5pj 😁
That little plaque says dining room in French
that made in Italy plate.... I have several matching pieces. I would have picked that up
those prices! yikos
Funny you found that item from Scotland as Big Country was playing!
The wedding plaque you mentioned @ 16:00 and picked says ‘Salle à manger’ means the dining room , in French. So most probably screwed on the door or next to the door of the dining room
16:38 Made in Portugal it is a wine vessel hand made I have 2 just like it. ❤
They used to call the Scottish stuff Thistle ware
Twenty years from now people will get excited about Hallmark and FTD. LOL
The Portugal "vases" were for coffee liquor
You missed the neat unicorn head
