melodic techno from the detroit UR crew. Additional production by Suburban Knight on this one.
Cant remember the year 1995ish??
Crazy to think this stuff is around 20 years old! Red Planet/Underground Resistance have never been matched for pure sonic brilliance. There's so much soul and emotion in those grooves, this track still fills me with joy, Mad Mike deserves major respect.
30 years now
red planet is one of the best labels to come out of detriot full stop. keep the soul burning brightly all at underground resistance, mad mike, timeline gerald micthell, nomadico, mark flash suburban night and a shout out to plaid in the uk, love your work lads.
Let's not forget the next generation though. Kyle Hall, Anthony Shakir, Omar S, Jay Daniel, Rick Wilhite, Theo Parrish, Moodyman - they're still all knocking the deep shit out.
This reminds me so much of Yellow Magic Orchestra. They are just as important to house and techno as anyone in Europe and the States. Anyone that pays respects to the originators of an art form like this would very like alot of their material.
BTW, very nice post. Much thanks.
this makes you free like the wind!!!!! shivers!!!!
I live in the UK and was a full blown Techno DJ for years..!! Some of the best Techno has come out of America..!! from the likes of Carl Craig, Richie Hawtin, Kenny Larkin.. You don't know what your talking about..!! Do your research..!!
Going out to the people that know not to the people that don't know...we are from the uk too true what you say my friend :-)
truly a masterpiece...
so really really good detroit tune with fantastic melody
All of that said, thanks for posting - beautiful!
RED PLANeT Takes me back to the day,Techno for the Gods
absolute quality! genre kickin!!!
Magnifique
Well... to be honest, let's say that Detroit Techno was also inspired by European music (since it was supposed to be the fusion of Funkadelic with Kraftwerk...), and Detroit Techno inspired back European artists. In music, you are always the son/daughter of someone, the cousin of someone else, the father/mother of others etc.
Ye and those people from detroit are good but also all have their own fucking ego's. Because according to detroit everyone was the first ...
subculture trying to define themselves, nothing wrong with that though
Inter galactic funk

@SeismicMultimedia Born in 69, and by elite i just meant that these are the cream of the crop.
But your right, you either get it you don't. my pal used to play 'just this' and around manchester uk. where we live, lots of heads got it,and some didn't. i remember him playing F**k you up by blake baxter, and folks just stood there with a puzzled look on their faces, and i loved that, for me the scene died in 1992/3 but the music remained, and still does,
I need top pm you i think..lol
fucking classic
Yeah I just looked, it's 50 bucks for his big compilation album. I think I'll look for a torrent somewhere.
Too many barriers here.
you obviously don't get it. Techno is a futuristic statement made in Detroit.
Go back and listen to tiesto
Why is the album Red Planet so hard to find!?!? God, I really want to add this to my collection. If anyone knows where I can get it, please tell me.
Cool soooo chill 5*
nice!!!
@ressla what about Kraftwerk?
@ev3nflow Born 1970. Old enough to live thru much (if not all) of Kraftwerk, old enough to witness the rise of Detroit. I like your feedback, but personally don't like underground music labeled as "for the elite by the elite". Either people "get it", or they simply don't. People into cheesy Techno (I leave it to you to decipher that, but I suspect your definition would match mine!) fade from any scene where Detroit Techno & similar are prominent. 'Cause it's about the music, not the "scene"...
@ressla Kraftwerk, my friend ..............history lesson over...
@pnostre & ressla: your comments are silly. I LOVE Detroit Techno & I'm no newcomer-I've spun Cybotron's "Clear" since the early-mid '80's. Ive owned Kev Saunderson's many classics for years. I own many early Transmat trax like "Nude Photo". But Kraftwerk's "Computer World" graces my crates too (as it does Juan's!) Detroit coined the term Techno. But neither they nor EU can claim the ENTIRE genre of futuristic electronic music. It's stool to say all EuroTechno is "150 BPM". Clearly ur not a DJ!
pnostre is the musical equivalent of people who believe earth is 10,000 years old.
@silverdale247 Im European and I think that The Martian are Scottish so......
naw. Berlin scene and UK Industrial is amazing
@SeismicMultimedia
Whatever the other guy said, your dam right, its been removed, but you must be as old as me, and yeah.No one can touch this music, jeff/mike/sun knight/kevin/derrick carl craig/ hawtin/The inventor juan and lets never never ever forget the unsung hero in all this eddie folwks..all friggin genius..This my school and its for the musically educated, no the masses, its for the elite by the elite . i cherish my original pressings with pride, and don't let my kids near em.lol
peace
Sess
@pnostre ahahah! such a gay comment. It's exactly the opposite as you tell.
The World is a Ghetto
techno was a european invention created 1970 by Kraftwerk and it just grew from there
techno was not created by europeans....it was created by black Americans. Europeans just popularized it. You might want to look into some documentaries and do some research.
Also, ressla: you think Detroit didn't put out 150 BPM records?!? Apparently you don't know UR and Red Planet as well as you may think...313's own Mad Mike produced this killer "Techno" track: Underground Resistance - Planet X.
How you like that? This and many other trax bear plenty of the Detroit stamp. I know the music you're referring to, just be careful dissing an entire group of people or music - the world needs less of that nonsense.
techno was european invention it started Kraftwerk 1970 and it just imerged from there
what a load of utter pish. lol.
