Since most of you do not know,The actual CTC is the 2nd year CTC and this is important because if you make a switch / look for a new job, then this actual CTC is used to consider for new offer. The high CTC is not taken into consideration…
Let’s say at Microsoft your quoted CTC is Rs 39,40,000 (~39.4 lakhs).
Base Salary: Rs 12,00,000 which is further divided into two components:
Basic salary and flexible Base Plan (FBP)
Basic: Rs 4,72,000 and FBP: Rs 5,28,000
Joining bonus of Rs 3,00,000 (Rs 1,50,000 in the first month and Rs 1,50,000 after 1st year)
Stock Award: $30,000 (given over 4 years) ~ Rs 22,00,000-23,00,000
Relocation bonus: Rs 1,00,000 (given if you are coming from another city)
Note: This is not included in CTC so this is extra as you will get this only if you claim it.
Performance bonus: Rs 2,40,000 (20% of Base salary)
Note: 20% is the maximum if your company (Microsoft in this case) hits its overall goal. It can be less than 20% and even 0%. So, it varies.
There are other components where you can get extra money provided you claim those. These are not included in CTC. These include:
Medical expenses (Within a given limit)
Travel expenses
and others.
Therefore, the following components are added to arrive at the final CTC
Base Salary: Rs 12,00,000
Joining bonus: Rs 3,00,000
Stock Award: Rs 22,00,000
Performance bonus: Rs 2,40,000
This gives the CTC as Rs 39,40,000.
The following components are one-time that is these components are not considered in the CTC of your 2nd year at Microsoft. So, the 2nd year CTC is always less than the 1st year CTC:
Joining bonus: Rs 3,00,000
Stock Award: Rs 22,00,000
Therefore, your 2nd year CTC will be Rs 14,40,000..
In New tax regime, you cannot do tax saving.
In Old tax regime, you can do tax saving like in Fixed deposit, Interest in loans and much more. This is useful only if you have to pay a large amount of interest for loans like education loan, house loan and others.
Let us calculate the minimum salary:
You are doing no tax saving and are in New tax regime.
You did not receive any bonus (0%).
Then, you get the base salary of Rs 12,00,000 only. On this, you pay tax of 20%.
Tax = 2.5 * 0.05 + 2.5 * 0.1 + 2.5 * 0.15 + 2 * 0.2 = 1.15
So, you pay Rs 1.15 lakhs in salary. Your in-hand salary is Rs 10.85 lakhs. So, your monthly in-hand salary is Rs 90,417.
Let us calculate maximum salary:
Let us assume you do tax saving investments and are in Old tax regime. If you have loan and give interests, you can save tax on the interest up to FBP.
So, you have to pay tax on Basic salary of Rs 4,72,000.
Tax = 2.22 * 0.05 = Rs 11,100
You get the performance bonus of Rs 2,40,000 and tax is deducted on it. So, in-hand bonus is Rs 2,28,000.
So, in-hand salary is Rs 11,88,900 per year and it is Rs 99,000.
Therefore, your in-hand monthly salary range from Rs 90,417 to Rs 99,000.
Your 2nd year CTC / actual CTC will be Rs 14,40,000 per year and not Rs 33,40,000 per year.
Note -You’ll be getting stocks worth 22 lakhs but you’ll have to pay 30% tax +10 % long term capital gains tax on them and if you leave the company in between the unvested stocks will be forfeited
It’s great to get into these product based companies ( better than service based ones ) but you should be knowing all these things

WLB and Learning in project not always go hand in hand. WLB will be a hit if you are working on a project which is being built from scratch.
There is a huge difference between CTC and in-hand salary be it in India or USA in India there is no state tax but in the USA you have state tax as well as federal tax since you earn in $ you spend in $ everything is expensive in the USA, these days RUclipsrs give wrong THUMBNAILS just get viewers and likes.

To be honest, no one except new grads include 4 years stocks while calculating their TC nowadays.
These people just want to make hype by misleading thumbnails and titles. Yearly TC in this case would surely be less than 75 LPA, which is not a small number to state clearly.
But still they are earning in USA and not in India. Which means more opportunities , better lifestyle , better roads and of course petrol prices in America are less than India so cheaper fuel

1CR + CTC is true for SE-2 there (obviously inclusive of 4 yrs of shares), but base component will only be at max 40% of that

3.) Focus on skills and become very good software engineer
So if I am from tier 3/4 college, even if i start with less pay, Within 3-4 years, If I keep working hard, I will be earning good enough and my college tag won't matter.

So in that case will I be considered as a fresher or experienced as I don't have any further development experience in a company so if I switch to product based then will I be selected as SDE1 OR SDE 2

Pretty sure as SDE 1 as even though you have IT experience but no experience in the SDE thing and I have seen people on LinkedIn that have 2-3 years experience in Service sector companies but joined as SDE 1 in Amazon etc.

Yes, they do give a package above 1 Crore. But that's the CTC in hand salary would vary so much and one needs to be the best of the bests to get these numbers.

I love watching your Videos, but you should bring change to your content. There is a lot of different roles than SDE and you only talk about SDE. I would suggest that you could bring other people from different BG and there might be chances you can get more people to your channel. Just a sugesstion.

Everyone's journey is unique and special. Their struggles, how they make their way in favorable/unfavorable situation also matters. No doubt many many people have lots of great skills and experience but they are largely underpaid. So let's be realistic and mindful of practicalities. Don't sell unrealistic dreams just to popularise your RUclips channel. Not everyone can work in FAANG. Not every company can pay like FAANG. Let's not make FAANG like JEE. Though she is focusing on self improvement but the entire video is to to create fake craze for for extreme package. Kudos to her hard work and achievement on grabbing offers from top notch tech companies. But Let's not over do this stuff.

Atlassian India is paying 1cr for SDE-2? This sounds unbelievable. I mean it's not even a senior role.
1 cr with 4 year stocks, see description. So annual compensation is around 50-60 lakhs. Sde2 annual compensation ranges from 40lpa to 80lpa.

I am a finance guy and all the people i know including juniors and seniors with even 15 years of experience are all below 50 lac LPA (we don't get stocks).
People with 5-10 years are within 20 LPA.
How do we grow out of it. In finance we are judged based on our current profile and years of experience and problem solving skills are of little value.
Should we also start learning programming.

no. you don't need to force yourself to learn to program. I think you are already doing really well!

@@somebody-dj6sn actually 4 years ago I was looking for a job but no luck then one of my best friend helped me a lot to learn office 365 T/s and Remote desktop all courses then in one company I was selected as Remote desktop engineer then my journey started in IT field. Could you help me what should I do next
