- Trooper's Report:
On 02/06/24 at 1134 hours I, Trp. Weatherly, attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a green 2003 Suzuki G/S (LPN: 642EP) for
speeding (85 in a 55) on Highway 165 at Willow Beach Rd. I was traveling east on Highway 165 and the vehicle was traveling
west on Highway 165. I traveled to the right shoulder, activated my lights for a traffic stop, and got behind the vehicle to conduct
a traffic stop. The vehicle immediately accelerated at a high rate of speed towards Interstate 440. I advised ASP Dispatch I was
in pursuit.
I accelerated to speeds over 140 mph to keep eyes on the vehicle on Highway 165. The vehicle took the onramp to
I440 west. The vehicle traveled several miles and took the onramp to I30 east. The vehicle took the Roosevelt Rd. exit, went
under the bridge, and got back on Interstate 30 to go west bound. The vehicle traveled west on Interstate 30 and took the
Interstate 440 east exit. The vehicle took the Bankhead Dr. exit and traveled south on Jones St. The vehicle failed to negotiate
the curve on Jones St. near E. 35 St. and laid the motorcycle over on the left side in the tree line on the northbound side of the
roadway. The driver, Jonathon Moore, failed to stay on the bike, traveled to the northbound shoulder, and landed in a briar
patch. Additional responding officers and I pulled Moore from the briar patch to begin assessing his injuries and render aid. We
assessed his injuries and stood by until MEMS responded. I ran Moore and his motorcycle through the Arkansas Crime
Information Center and revealed he had a suspended license, expired registration from July 2022, and did not have insurance.
East End Towing responded to take possession of the motorcycle. MEMS transported Moore to Baptist Health-Little Rock
where he was treated for his injuries.
Moore was charged with:
Fleeing, Speeding, No Liability Insurance, Driving on Suspended
License, Reckless Driving, Owner Fail to Register Vehicle, and Riding without a Motorcycle Operators License. - Авто/Мото

But, damn, go down any of the streets in Philly and there are folks on their bikes whose aggression is far greater than their adhesion (and skill) who not only “fail to negotiate” but fail at everything including common sense while doing 100+ including failing to wear helmets or leathers.

He probably has done this before but that cop was dangerous. A wrecking biker rarely kills more than himself and his passenger. Three tons of police car have killed too many people in pursuit of routine traffic violations. This happened at the beginning of the month so I guess Trooper Genius wanted to get a good start on the monthly revenue raffle.

All I can say is traveling 140+ on that two lane road with center left turn lane where the speed limit is 50 is CRAZY.
And the “sane cop” was doing that too.
That was awesome. State police agencies like ASP, CHP, NHP, and the various Troopers usually have the best drivers. You should watch the videos the California Highway Patrol Academy puts out. It’s the city and county cops that you hear about injuring or killings someone while in route to a call for service.
@@bradydouglas5707that’s the difference between highway driving and city driving not the quality of the cop doing the driving. Use your head and think about it. Duh
@@Dieseldog172 I agree city driving and highway driving is different. I am a former LEO in California and highway patrol for example gets a lot more training on handling their vehicles compared to city police and county sheriffs.
Also agree these differences in technical ability dont mean state officers are of any better quality than city/county officers. Any day could be anybodys lucky day. And luck is when opportunity meets preparation right. @Dieseldog172 we both watched this video and commented on it so according to the algorithm we probably pretty much have the same beliefs and views. But heh the sun don’t shine on the same dogs tail all week.
How many hours of LEO driver training are conducted at 150?
Having ridden motorcycles for over 30 years I can say from experience that country roads with leaves and loose dirt and gravel are not your friends.
Literally everyone is talking about a lack of skill instead of the road conditions and loss of traction.
I second the motion. I was dumped in the spring of the year around a hard curve at well under half that speed from a sanded curve leftover from winter. Not a good thing. Not much damage to me or the bike, I repaired it for under a $100 in parts. But it was a good lesson learned. No real damage to me.
Yes! I always ride with polarized sunglasses; they allow you to see oils spots, water, and sand on roadway ahead way in advance...

A little bit of gravel will get you every time.
@@rustyiron nah that was all rider error. This guy can't ride to save his life. Lol but seriously he was locking up the rear far too much and his body position was terrible. He is either a new rider or someone who never learned properly. If I was the one riding that cop would never have caught up. But I wouldn't be dumb enough to run either. So...
@@RazorBrain1gtfoh! 1st time you can even see him is before he wrecks on leaves before the turn. Other than that dusted his ass, so pretty obvious he can ride ! Despite your 5 second evaluation of someone's abilities. He wouldn't of caught me! Says Joe Rocket... but I wouldn't of ran either! Imagine that?
The bike was not quite fast enough and this rider lacked cornering skills. I could drag my knees on dry pavement at 140mph in my day of crotch rocket riding. But you're correct. These interstates also had concrete barriers all the way and not grass and dirt swale anywhere. Thus he could not jamb the brakes and double back because he coulda gained a quarter mile on every double back due to vastly superior deceleration/acceleration (remember he was on drive pavement and in the daytime with great weather). So instead why not ride within the speed limit when one KNEW they were illegal to begin with?
Highest speed I saw was 148….troop’s COOKIN!
And that bike probably tops out below 120mph.
I remember when that was how fast the Indy 500 drivers went! 😮
@operator0 lol youre bugging. the motorcycle was going like 160 at times. he just couldn't hang. you motorcycles can sustain high speeds for short periods or can get away in heavy traffic but once things open up any car that can go 150 mph will catch up
yeah so much for motorcycles being so fast...police cars are heavy and slow compared to sports cars and dont handle well, and he was STILL be able to catch a sport bike. motorcyclists everywhere are butt hurt lol 😂

The fishtail at 110mph was impressive. This guy needs q race career.
That was a serious "Pucker Factor" huh. I almost crapped myself!!!!
That fishtail was a downshift I suspect, The crash however looked like a touch on the rear brake on a dirty road surface in a curve, resulting in the final highside. He was lucky for sure to end up in a briar patch rather than wrapped around a tree.
All modern cars with stability control can do that. Not impressed.

As a youngster I read the books after seeing the movie (Song of the South) on broadcast TV, and later ended up reading the books to my own kids, doing my best to imitate that fun accent. (FYI, to this day Disney refuses to sell that movie on any home media in the US, because woke.)
Nope
Nope. Love Uncle Remus and his stories.
Ebonics. So, to enable some to, I guess, WRITE MORE BOOKS LIKE THAT... Back in 1996 the special folk wanted to make it an acceptable thing in society, and there was a drive to teach it in school. Oakland! ---- to wit:
"Ebonics was the short-lived Oakland (CA) School Board’s approved program (1996) to teach black students to parse the way they naturally spoke and wrote at home, in the neighborhood, and with friends just as Standard English had to be acquired. The School Board resolution recognized Ebonics-a combination of “ebony” and “phonics”- as the “primary language of African American students,” not a dialect of English. Decades earlier, such speech had been labeled “Black English.” Renamed, the School Board set policy to teach Ebonics to African American students to improve their reading and increase their academic achievement."
Damn! Trooper Weatherly can DRIVE! Well done!
He better be careful when flying going through the metal detectors. Those balls of steel gonna set that off for sure.
He was lucky, that's all. Obviously his ego was obstructing his vision for the entire pursuit.
It worked out this time but there is a huge chance for something very bad to happen during the chase.

You think driving 143mph to catch a moron speeder is GOOD? He has the plate and make of the vehicle-arrest him at home-don't risk everyone on the highway-143mph crash-who would survive THAT? Or hitting some driver from the rear- 70 mph closing speed-lethal-

Arkansas' fuel tax money must pay for ASP high speed driving / PIT training and ASP vehicle repairs, because it sure doesn't pay for road repairs. Those are some of the worst road conditions I've seen. Kudos to the ASP for being able to maintain control at high speed with so many potholes and broken pavement.
Yep, the potholes are what took the fool out. Arkansas roads are awful!!
And yet people still think it's okay to flee from ASP on them.

You think your roads are bad? Come to New Jersey. Highest taxes in the country and crap roads…
@janicehammond6229 Louisiana even worse...I've driven the 48 contiguous states and nobody has worse roads than Louisiana
I question the value of these pursuits, particularly at those speeds. The motoring public are just too unpredictable when trying to weave in and around them. Those left-lane bandits are either entitled morons or so inattentive that they pose more of a threat than the motorcyclist. Chasing that idiot only tripled the threat to the public, in my view.

I question whether this pursuit was worth the risk to everyone involved. If it was a murder suspect maybe I could see it, but a speeding motorcyclist is mainly a danger to himself.
Saw a triple fatality where the speeding M/C cut an elderly couple's car in half..... they were just goin to breakfast. So he's a danger to every motorist.
Do you have a crystal ball to see that the fleeing suspect DIDN'T murder someone? If someone flees a traffic stop (turning a misdemeanor into a felony), I assume he is guilty of something much more serious and must be apprehended.
@@alm4132 Big deal, a car only needs to go 30 to carry the KE of a bike at 140 plus.

That put a lot of people in danger to catch someone for speeding. I'm not saying the guy didn't deserve the ticket, and the rider caused his own crash but that 130mph blast through congested areas was scary.
Exactly... In Australia high speed pursuits by police are only allowed if there is information that a serious crime has been committed. Too many civilian deaths/injuries are caused by cops with out-of-control testosterone levels, and an overblown estimation of their abilities.

The skill and decision making of the trooper is exceptional! A very high speed chase that he conducted flawlessly.
For me, it is impressive and warming to see most drivers noting the siren and blue red flashes coming from behind, and moving over. It doesn't happen so much in Australia where too many idiots ignore emergency vehicles and exhibit the driving skills of a 3 year old.

Props to the department's mechanics. That cruiser was running up to 150mph for quite a while and held up nicely.
Did the briar patch survive? Either way, thank you for helping out, Briar Patch!

I wonder if it was worth it to put all those innocent drivers lives at stake to stop an 85 mph bike…
Only for his ego.
It wasn't. A car typically carries anywhere from 5 to 10 times the KE of a bike at any given speed depending on the mass. A bike has to go 140+ to be as hazardous as a car at 40-50 mph. The Cop probably deserves more prison time than the motorcyclist.
@@plumetheum7017 agreed. On the same math, it angers me how the cops and general public go in head chopping mode over a sports car going over 100 mph on an interstate, yet they 100% tolerate semis going 75 mph...doesn't compute.

Does the state have a move over law? Just can’t believe people don’t see the lights behind them and give room. With some of the speeds I understand you’re better to stay put and let the Trooper who is trained at high speed maneuvers do his thing but most drivers I see are just oblivious to their surroundings.

That's OK, son; it'll scab over.
I can't watch a bike chase without seeing the final scenes in "Mad Max" and "Road Warrior".
The cop may be a good driver, but is it really worth it. If one car that hadn’t noticed the cop zooming up on them till the last second swerved the wrong way, it would have been a bad one. Don’t know how fast the bike was going when he first saw him, but I doubt it was as fast as the cop was running trying to catch him.
Excessive speed by perp AND cop entirely caused by police pursuit. Wreckless driving by perp AND cop caused by police pursuit. Why pursue?
Caused by another coward running.
One reason to pursue is to catch criminals. Are you aware that Minneapolis has instituted a no pursuit policy and since then, drive-by shootings have increased by 100%? Thugs are now carrying guns in their cars because law enforcement no longer chases them, meaning that a gun charge is something they will not receive...
Motorcyclist picked the wrong cop car to mess with. Coolest driving trooper that I have ever seen. Wouldn't go away.
Crashing into the trees at 11:30 AM is not what's meant by getting morning wood. 🤣🏍
This is a bad time of year for winter grit to be on the back roads, best not try chit like that on them this time of year..., love the slow mo thanks...lol
That's a very good point. In Denver in 1967 I took an I-25 exit ramp doing about 75 or 80 (30 mph ramp, I think). The ramp was dry by then, but there still was sand on it from a few days prior when icing had been a concern. My 1967 Tempest sustained about $300 damage from the reflector posts I plowed down while going sideways. Received a well-deserved ticket for that foolishness.
Skilled or not, chasing after anything at this extreme speed in any kind of traffic constitutes reckless endangerment, and I saw several possibilities that could have resulted in catastrophe with innocent drivers for whom it may have been difficult to react in time to a police vehicle coming up behind them at over twice freeway speed. It is animal behavior fueled by high testosterone. I have high respect for most police departments, but there needs to be more real-time oversight in determining the merits of a pursuit and whether it should be terminated.
“I pulled Moore from the briar patch”! 😩 (ouch)
The second I saw how much dust he was kicking up on the road he took I knew he was gonna loose it.
I will never understand bikers that choose to take the highway to run from the police. You give up your one advantage: maneuverability.
The cop was more dangerous than the biker
I’m all for catching bad guys, but why risk your own life and that of folks in the area by chasing over 140?
If a cop has to travel over 100 miles an hour the chase should be terminated because at that point the cop is driving just as reckless
140mph center turn only lane, less than a few feet from innocent drivers in both directions, includingmothers with babies in car seat. grandparents. What an idiot! (the cop)
Very entertaining but unless the person has committed a murder, robbery or other serious crime these chases are too dangerous. Cops need to stop letting their ego's control them.
Trooper, you are nuts.
Officer Weatherly needs to get Pursuit of the year for that one!
And what did we learn? These dummies take exits and turn around every time and the cops catch back up. You can’t outmaneuver a car on a bike!
yes you can just Got To Go Slow To Go Fassst and ya he didnt ;-)
cops are stupid, let him go... it isn't worth it. Just cause he is crazy doesn't mean you need to follow suit. go check cameras and pick him up later... be smarter
Assuming there were cameras. Able to pick up a motorcycle license plate.
You must be a biker...
One of the most dumbest and most reckless thing I have seen by the police putting everyone in danger at them speeds and for what to barley catch a bike that was speeding wow
It always never the POS rider's fault.😂
@@TracyKimbal1973 You people always miss the point. Cars, depending on their weight and the compared bike+rider weight carry anywhere from 5-10 times the KE of a bike at any given speed. A typical bike+ rider needs to reach 140+ to match the energy of a car driving "safely" at 40-50 mph.
The bike at such high speeds was about as dangerous to others as an average car being operated "safely", think about that for a second (assuming you can think in the first place). The Officer didn't kill himself, and multiple innocent people through sheer luck, and a collision would've been a guaranteed fatality. The bike striking a car at this speed is likely survivable for the occupants of a car unless it strikes at an unlucky angle. The trooper's car would've killed the Officer for sure, and even if anyone did survive, they'd be crippled for life.
Physics says that you, and everyone else railing on bikers, and making excuses for the Cop's disgusting ego driven behavior are wrong. If chasing a bike really is so important (presumably in the case of a murder suspect or something), do so with a Helicopter.
@@plumetheum7017 but it's never the POS bikers fault. You sure talk alot with very little relevant information related to the crime and the criminal.
@@TracyKimbal1973 Are you illiterate? I have been saying that the Cop should be in prison WITH the Motorcyclist, not that the biker wasn't wrong for their actions.
I rest my case though, if chasing a Motorcyclist is that important, such as a murder suspect or similar, you chase them down with a Helicopter.
All of what I said is relevant, and your ego is not. You are wrong. I understand that like most Americans, and Canadians, your education stalled somewhere halfway through high school, but this is just sad man.
@@plumetheum7017 if you actually knew American law you would know that your BS about the cop being in prison is just that....BS. Your education is obviously lacking.
