    Picked up the 20 a while back. Got some great shots with it while traveling, but MAN is it a lot in some instances. Ordered the 10 % after watching this video due to the preferable all around results. Thanks for this excellent video!

    Bought both, seems like the 20% is great for a very artistic look like for very moody photography, while 10% is more practical for general photography

    Great video Dan! Love your presentation style. I bought the 10% originally and then Moment released the 5% just as my return window was closing (darn it!) 😊 So now I own both and use the 5% as my everyday filter and the 10 for special effects. Looks great on the EOS R. New sub.

    Just picked up the 20% today and I and quite intrigued by what’s to come for my photos. Unfortunately, Henry’s didn’t have the 10% in stock, but I think this will suffice greatly because I tend to do a lot of these effects in post processing.

    I don’t really know much about cameras but these filters look perfect for my filming style! I have an canon eos 700d - do you know if these filters work well with it?

    • @DanYosua
      @DanYosua  2 года назад

      So long as you have a lens that can accept front element filters (the glass of the lens doesn't extend past the front plane), you should be able to give these a shot!
      Often when buying filters, it can be helpful to get a filter size big enough to work on your largest lens, and then adapt it using step-up rings for your smaller lenses. That saves you from buying both, say, a 67mm filter AND a 77mm filter. I do this with my 35mm that has a small filter thread size.
      In some cases, for lenses and filters you use all the time, it might be helpful to bite the bullet and get multiple separate filters at different sizes anyway. If you want it to fit your favorite lenses unadapted, or want to avoid a big stack of step up rings, it might be good to go with a smaller filter for some lenses.

    Not sure if you still reading comments from this vid, but I just got the 10% and I'm having terrible ghosting and reflections. I use a Lumix 12-60 mft. Not sure if there's a fix for this or is this filter really suited for primes. I know people say variable lenses are more likely to cause flaring and ghosting when filters are involved. Just wanted your input.

    • @DanYosua
      @DanYosua  2 года назад +1

      I am, but unfortunately don't know much about that lens in particular. I had one day where I had some moisture between the front element and the filter and that wasn't good. Other than monitoring that - I'm not exactly sure what to suggest.

    Do not buy from Moment if you need your gear in a timely manner. I paid for one of these filters on Monday. Well it’s Thursday and the filter still hasn’t even been shipped yet lol. Worse part is I payed for 2 day fedex shipping lol 🤦🏻‍♂️

    • @DanYosua
      @DanYosua  3 года назад

      Well hopefully it’ll still ship in two days once it does 😅 It looks like they might not actively be stocking on Amazon so grabbing them directly from Moment might be the only option soon. Which one did you get?

    • @robvision3888
      @robvision3888 3 года назад +2

      @@DanYosua they shipped it 4 days after ordering even though they said it was in stock and would ship same day. AND they shipped it with 3-4 day method instead of the 2 day method I payed for. Ripped off by shipping charges right there. Not the end of the world.. but realized buying from the bigger longer established sites (B&H, Adorama, Amazon) you get a higher level of transparency, communication, clearer shipment estimates, and efficiency. I had to shoot the scenes with the “hairspray on UV filter method” and it worked. I want return the product right when it arrives but I’m not fully convinced that Moment would honor their return policy 🤣😂. Refund might get lost somewhere

    • @DanYosua
      @DanYosua  3 года назад +1

      @@robvision3888 Oh no, that double whammy is a big bummer 😕I would hope they'd at least get you back the differential in shipping without a hassle (even if it's only a few bucks). Good for you for improvising and shooting with what you had though. I've also found Best Buy online to be a hidden gem too. They're really good about verifying low stock inventory through live chat and setting me up with a link to a cart immediately after. I got the M1 Air and 70-200 F4 there when the other bigs stores were out around launch. I can't imagine they would have more inventory than the others, but maybe they trickle it out or got it later or something.

    ...
    Quick note - a few shots in the video show some ghosted reflection/glaring of lights in frame. They were all from the same morning and I don't normally see this behavior... it was especially humid when I was shooting and I was struggling to keep the filters and front element completely dry. I think that was contributing.
    ...
    Some of these shots I would never leave edited as shown if not for the comparison. I copied the same edits throughout a series of 0%-10%-20% to show the effect. Clearly you'd want to rein in some of the 20% edits.

    • @DanYosua
      @DanYosua  2 года назад +1

      I don't have them handy at the moment, but I think physically they do have a front thread meaning that you could stack. In practice, you'd have to see what it does for image quality. You might get some odd reflecting, I think I had some issues when I got some moisture trapped between my front element and the filter... so not too sure. There might be other vids on stacking diffusion filters generally or it might be a good thing to check in with Moment's customer service on. If it were me I'd probably opt for the single 10 if I felt I needed 15... and then you can either add 5 later and try, or snag both if you'll use the 5 alone elsewhere.

      On the photo side you can start to fake it - lower clarity a bit, texture. Dehaze locally around prominent light sources. But it’s tedious and not quite the same. On the video side it’s a bit harder. Or at least with my more limited knowledge, I wouldn’t know how best to try and go about it.
